Some #### n00b-mouth in chat said only 4 days left to get the FREE Breen Chel Grett Warship! God willing I'll have gotten all of my elligible chars through by the 14th! *sigh* My friend Mike and i both missed out on last year's event (for different reasons). We came back on F2P's opening weekend and players were all going on and on about the Jem'Hadar ships!
From the wardrobe upgrades to special weapons to a badass cruiser (i can say "baddass" right?) my time & effort is well spent; a good thing too as i've put off New Romulus, the new Borg and Tholian missions; even the FE Ruruns spending all my gametime in QWW (Q's Winter Wonderland)! After i Grind one KDF char to Lv 24 to race and get Nanopulse Bat'leth, i have to strategize which chars to do which FE Reruns and/or grind my low-Lv chars (if any; FED to Lv 5 and KDF to LV 24, lol).
Then win the lottery for buying a fortune in Master Keys! L0L!!!
Happy Holidays!

Does anyone know if there's some sort of issue taking screenshots on the pond while wearing skate boots? I managed to get a few but the (almost 30 screenshots) came out as complete black.
i have just bothered trying to do the race without any rolls or any other tricks, just normal walking and running.
there are basically parts where u can run smoothly for a few seconds without much stirring, if u simply "walk" at the total rest of the course, u finish before the animal with a good 5-8 seconds to spare, which is quite a lot without any rolls.
additionaly i tried running the course without looking at the radar and with one error where i came to a total halt.
the animal was directly behind me when i finished the race.
so im guessing if anyone fails this race, i could help them out with this:
u can be off the track and behind the polls a tiny bit, to keep the speed, it wont disqualify u.
thats worth knowing for essential parts of the race, where u else if u stay 100% on the track, would lose speed or time.
if u still fail the race, then there is a general problem with your latency (internet connection),
your monitor, maybe a problem with your keyboard not functioning properly.
with rolling the race is much easier of course and u will finish it so much faster.
I have latency problems, and have always generally sucked at doing the "arcade-style" stuff as described. I love your map, that is more-or-less the way I learned I could complete the race, with the exception that I think I cut more corners than you.
A good rule of thumb is that where there are blue flags, you can pretty much just run over the snow (on the corners), which prevents you from sliding.
You can also line yourself up at the start line, looking toward the far blue flag, and start sprinting about the time the countdown hits "2", then run up on the snow and stop running for a sec, turn, and continue on. Keep sprinting as straight a course as you can, then stop, line up again and head off again.
Rolling, for me, has not helped and I've pretty much lost every race I've tried that in. But, using the "C" key (default for crouch) will help do a controlled slide, and if you're on the snow, will sometimes roll you into position for the next run.
For those of us who are "movement challenged", every little tip helps. I only ran like 2 races last year because I couldn't win and it was just frustrating. But this year I have one toon that could use a free ship, so I'm doing my best and it's getting easier.

This has been a lot of fun so far - thanks, Cryptic, for this little "extra!" Wasn't around home to get in on last year's event, so I know what everyone was jazzed about now.
One question, though, regarding the PvP ("Fast and the Flurrious") race: has anyone else had the issue wherein you come in (and know for a fact you do) within the top three, but someone else grabs your "flag" and you get left with the "Participant" flag and awards?
I've taken 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and "placed" each several times, but I came in '2nd' today - and, again, I know for sure I did - but saw someone who was well behind come and snag my flag while I was still slip-sliding towards it. In a later race, I also saw someone who I know took '1st' get their flag ganked by someone who came in after them.
Is this a glitch (like being able to jump over the side at the beginning area without being disqualified as some did before the glitch was fixed), or is it set up this way? If it's the former, I hope someone sees this and addresses it.
If it's the latter...well, that's kind of a bum deal to lose your flag because you skid further than the person coming in after you, ha!
I believe it's by design - you have to grab the flag in order to grab the "place". I've lost my standing more than a few times 'cause I was sliding all over the place, or it was very close between say 2nd and 3rd place, I missed the 2nd place flag and the person in 4th beat me to the 3rd place flag.
Then again, I've had people beat me and run straight past the flag and on up to the pavilion, leaving me the 1st place flag. I guess the answer is to start spamming the "F" key at the end and plan your slide for the flag.

I have started to ignore picking the flag. I enjoy imagining some toddler being overjoyous that he managed to snatch the flag from me.

LOL - good one. Although this toddler is overjoyed if able to finish the race, so I thank you for the opportunity for a couple of epohh tags.

Lock box keys are 125 zen, or 1125 for a pack of ten. Each lock box will give you at minimum 4 lobi crystals. And you need 305 lobi crystals to buy all the boxes you need to be cerrtain you get what you need for the ship. So worst case, you'll need about 9000 zen, if you buy the ten packs. That's assuming that each autograph box gives you 2 autographs only, and that each lock box you open for Lobi only gives you the minimum of 4. So that's 90 bucks american.
I think you are thinking of the old duty officer box that cost that much, and was giving out either 10 lobi's or a bug ship. But that's not available any more. Now you have to buy keys and use them to opent he lock boxes liekthe temporal one out now.
Begin December I went on vacation for a week and I was offline during the Christmas days.
I purchased some boxes to get more autographs.
Currently I have 593 autographs and I did not get the 40 autographs yet for today.
But if my calculation is right I will get 7x40 = 280 more.
At the final date I will have 873 autograph's. So I need 122 autographs more.
Is there any way to get more autographs,
beside the packages (what I already tried, as stated above) which get you only 3-6 autographs?
Thanks in advanced,
Alexw
The cooldown on the mission is 20 hours, so if you make a concerted effort to log in and run the race every 20 hours, you will get another full run in. That would be 320, for a total of 913, leaving you "only" 87 short.
If you are EC rich and Zen poor, you can buy the keys and lockboxes from the exchange.
Worst case scenario, as malkarris stated, if you only get 2 lobi from each box (possible, but improbable) you need to open at least 44 more boxes to get the additional lobi.
But you also might get some stuff from the lockboxes that you could sell on the exchange and recoup your investment. Here's hoping the RNG gods smile on you.

I guess I will pass this one...since it only cost me a lot of money. And I don't think it's worth it, since I already got all of the ships (Vice Admirals one) from the CStore...
Our Holiday Event is now officially over and we hope you all had a great time at Q's Winter Wonderland this year! As a reminder, you can still pick up some of the winter items until the end of the month. Details: http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=798511

Don't listen to them. The Q's place will be here until the 14th, unless Q decides he's had enough of us 'puny' mortal bags of mostly flesh.

sadly no, the only way to get more is the buying the boxs that randomly give you 2-6 extra autographs.
g'luck
Do you even Science Bro?
So I have pay 10.000 - 24.000 ZEN to get the ship.
Those boxes were 300 right?
The boxes are 5 Lobi each. But you'll still have to spend a lot to open lock boxes to get enough for what you need.
I know, but you need 300ZEN to buy a box with those lobi.
