The new outfits and accessories look really nice, the brown winter long coat in particular. It would go perfect with a Malcolm Reynolds named toon. :D
OOOooooOOOOoooh. A Captain Tight Pants-look, eh? Good idea.

As much as I love the fashion, I have to admit I'm slightly annoyed at having to buy separate colors and styles for each toon; moreso that I can't control the colors myself. Would have preferred there just be three jacket styles (long, short, cropped) that could be made any color I wanted in the way that regular clothes can be modified (I would love a red and white, all blue, or all yellow jacket, for example).

Likewise on the new 2012 scarf. I wish it wasn't color locked in bright-blue.

C'est la vie. Not really complaining, as it's not that big of a deal... But the locked clothing colors are my least favorite thing about the new Winter Wonderland. Just sayin'

    :P

this is a great event with some great prizes, my only niggle would be with the jackets - its a pity you cant put them on and take the off at will, it would have been great if they fitted in your kit slot then you could have worn them whenever you felt like it, as they are i am reluctant to get one as i dont realy want to permenantly cover one of my uniform tops and would not want to goto the trouble of going to a taylor every time i wanted to wear them or take them off.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Everything should be donated to the player when it logs in .All missions should be removed because it can annoy someone. If possible someone from cryptic should donate money to lazy people to play/wait in the game or when get rewards (we all know is not cool to get rewards and get no paycheck for accepting rewards).

    *facepalm*

now no wonder they give no s*** about what is said on the forums.Who'd give when most people write some things that are outside of any logic .

I think people are missing the debate between winning/participating.

As someone who was on the other end, I am going to give my perspective. While I wasn't complaining about the Fastest race on ice, I was shall we say disappointed.

It isn't about spending 2 minutes in game for 25 days to earn the "Big Prize". I knew going in I would have to work for it, and I had no problem doing it. The "problem", if you want to call it that, was I didn't realize that earning the big prize meant I would need a skill set I potentially lacked.

And there you have it, by making it "Win" instead of "participate" some people aren't going to get the big prize as they lack the skill needed. Which from my perspective was disheartening.

Now I will say, it doesn't end my enjoyment of the event. It is great fun, especially now that I have my snow gun. Nothing beats taking out an army of snowmen with a snowball launcher.

I think people need to relax on both sides. While I want Cryptic to know their work is appreciated, people need to understand that comments/feedback can be helpful to Cryptic as well.

I am not talking about the "I can't get blah, blah, blah. Cryptic is Terrible" comments. But real feedback on something like this, negative or postive, is helpful for Cryptic to look at what worked, what didn't, and even if not changing things around for this time, Hopefully make the even even better for next year.

It's too bad so many people complain about the event.[/COLOR][/B] Yes, there is some difficulty, but with some effort/practice, it really is doable. This is supposed to be a game, it's supposed require some investment on the player's part to accomplish the act of "winning" and thereby being awarded a prize.

Personally, I'm very happy with the way Cryptic has set up this year's Event. For one thing there really is more of an Event feel to it. I think because there is more than just the single daily race. There are multiple things to do, more than just a the solo race. There's the group race that can be done 4 (?) times an hour as often as you want, there's the awesome snowman fight twice an hour, there's snowpile farming if you want some mind numbing button pressing, there's exploration (accolades), RP fun, ice skating (the new animations are sweet!), creature transformation, snowballing, DOff missions, etc. Not to mention the look of the Wonderland, truely is wonderful!

And if you want to. Purely optionally, you can spend dilithium ("time currency") or real life money, and buy Cryptic products which give you an advance of goodies. You do not have to. Sure, people will spend money (I've already seen a few Breen ships in play!), and I'm certain they're happy to receive it, but Cryptic is a business. It's ok! Let the game make some money. For those who say they pressure you - Think about this - They also make it easier to not spend money - by unlocking the Holiday Collectibles, the Wonderland zone chat is full of buy/sell/trade offers - You can get anything you want for free (some effort, notwithstanding)!

This 1000 % YOU DID GOOD CRYPTIC !

    THANK YOU

Criticize when it's DESERVED, THEY don't deserve it NOW, with this event.

This year you can get all the holiday goodies for FREE for a little bit of effort and time , or if you want to speed things up, spend some cash, but it's NOT necessary.

We wanted more to do in the winter event, WE'VE GOT LOTS of fun things to do this year.

The map is beautiful, like a virtual Christmas card. I only wish that we could have a night map too, all lit up holiday like, maybe next year ;)

This is a HUGE improvement over the past years and it shows that they are REALLY listening !

I don't know whether this is a bug but the fastest game of life seems to be unusual I played yesterday as my Fed and KDF toon and both times during the race my baby girl started crying so went AFK while in the race. When I came back I continued thinking I failed the race and will need to start again. However when I got to the finish I was told I won. I thought Q had things to race against. Is this a bug or is the race challenge insanely easy if you stay on the ice

Agreed! The map is fun to be in and look at. Maybe next year we could get a day/night cycles (like the Bajor ground map) with corresponding "Christmas tree lighting" effects for the after dark portion of the cycle.

I really have fun on the races. They're one of my favorite parts, be it the single one-on-one, or the group race. For the latter, I'm really looking forward to the cliff/shortcut being fixed. I'm not hatin' - I mean "everyone is doing it" - So yeah, if everyone jumped off a cliff, would I? In this case, yes. That's fine, but I think the race will be even more interesting/challenging when it's longer, and we have to deal with more obstacles. That should really be interesting.

Another thing I noticed about the group race, are the people that throw snowballs at other players in an attempt to knock them down just prior to the start. Not my bag, I would never do that to others (on this I do take the higher moral ground). I've been knocked down. I don't care. I get back up and run anyway (funny thing is, both times I beat the snowballers, lol). I figure it's just part of the "charm" of the race, and even if it were to make me fail, who cares? A) Just a game. B) Snow Epohh Tags are uber-plentiful. C) There will be another race in just a few minutes, and this is still going to go on for weeks to go! >shrug<

I played STO a lot these last two days. My main Fed character has everything except the female-only cropped jackets, the Flurry gun (I got Avalanche, and one snowball gun is enough), and the purple lirpa (holding out for the purple bat'leth). I've started on my main KDF toon, and he already has the three long jackets, scarf, and Avalanche.

Being able to trade in Zone Chat for Holiday Collectibles is awesome! People are usually pretty receptive to requests (in fact when I post: I need 1 of X for 1 of Y), s'long as it's matched rarities, I've never gone unanswered. Cryptic, thank you for letting us trade HCs; the meeting of new people and wheeling-and-dealing has been a convenient, and even a fun aspect of Q's Winter Wonderland.

I been having fun with it. Already did the series rerun to get my Breen Officer. So he could show me how to operate a Breen ship. Even with my busy schedule, I been able to find a few mins each day to do the race. So I can get it. With is good on my end. As during the week its hard to me to find gaming time. I'm mainly a "Weekend Warrior". So with the quick race I can get the ship just like most. I'm looking forward to adding it to my KDF soon. As I hadn't yet missed a day for a race. With Christmas coming up. I will need all I can get for a head start incase I do miss a few days to race.

Many thanks to STO for making the Breen ship playable. The Breen is one group not many wants to deal with. Looking forward to striking fear as I cruise the stars in it.

Let me start out by saying I'm really enjoying this year's winter event. It's a great change of pace from the usual activities and the new costumes are very attractive.

However, there's a problem. The KDF scarves do not show up if you have the "armored uniform" option selected. This is preventing one of my captains from showing off his great-looking 2012 KDF scarf.

Was this an intentional design choice or is this a bug? If it's the latter, any chance this could be fixed? If the former, any chance if could be reconsidered?

Thanks for the event. It is a nice change and a more fun grind than the fleetmarks xD

I love the races and I hope that you will patch the cliff. It doesn't bother me, it just that the race distance is to short with the shortcut :-)

And please buff the speed of the NSC's so that you need at least a little bit of skill to beat them :-) Or even better let us choose between the normal race and a elite version with faster NSC's :-)

What were the devs thinking with this stupid race? That's too difficult and boring for a not that great ship anyway. I'm not here to play idiotic races...

I'm fine with the rest of the event, but the race? A pure waste of time.

Too difficult? Are you kidding me? It takes two minutes, it's easy as pie and if you don't want to do it or want the ship, why are you complaining?

It's not easy, it's easy if you like arcade games but if you're used to play with your brain instead of using your hands it's not. I've always been lame at race/soccer/whatever game implying to click on stuff at the right time. I know you can jump, roll, etc, but every time i want to play the race it takes me 5-6 attemps, which is an obvious waste of time to me. I master all STFs, fleet actions, but i'm completely lame at this race. I'm a RTS player, not an arcade game one, sorry. :P

Strangely enough, my passion for gaming lies in the RTS genre too, never been any good at arcade. But it's not really arcade style, the trick is sliding, don't jump or roll (I know everybody says to do that, but whenever I try it I jump or roll right out of the lane), slow down and slide at corners then sprint in the direction to recover.

Though if you don't want the ship, the race is kind of pointless either way to you lol.

I really like that the single player race has been changed slightly so you can't stand right next to the Breen to start it any more, you have to be in the queue area. Though it might have been better if this wasn't a stealth change and you listed it because there are now a lot of people flooding zone chat whining that they can't start the race because they just tried to skip ahead of people who were already waiting.

Wonderland has been great fun, loading up on winter goodies. Just 2 little questions...

Is there any chance that the skating physics could be tweaked to allow us to skate in reverse?

Can you fix the colour on the Black Winter Jackets? It's Brown right now.

Oh, just a last thought, how about a skating event for the next outing.

Yall picked a great time Cryptic! Im gone alot during the holidays... i cant get the ship therefore... But if yall extend it another week or two until close to the end of January that would probable give me enough time... I know i speak for a lot of people who actually have lives and don't play this game ALL the time. It is Christmas season how many people do you REALLY think are going to be at home playing STO the whole time?

So... may I take from this (Q's Winter Wonderland) that Cryptic has taken in some of the Paragon Studios employees and to prove themselves the new/old employees ported (with some modifications, no doubt) the old CoH/V Winter Events from that (Inter-dimensional) Pocket D?

actually I believe Winter wonderland was also active last year, well before Paragon studios tragic demise (loved CoX), although cryptic was the original designer of the game, so its possible some of the people who originally conceived the idea in the first place was part of cryptic's team to begin with and stayed with them when the let the CoX go.

This has been a lot of fun so far - thanks, Cryptic, for this little "extra!" Wasn't around home to get in on last year's event, so I know what everyone was jazzed about now.

One question, though, regarding the PvP ("Fast and the Flurrious") race: has anyone else had the issue wherein you come in (and know for a fact you do) within the top three, but someone else grabs your "flag" and you get left with the "Participant" flag and awards?

I've taken 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and "placed" each several times, but I came in '2nd' today - and, again, I know for sure I did - but saw someone who was well behind come and snag my flag while I was still slip-sliding towards it. In a later race, I also saw someone who I know took '1st' get their flag ganked by someone who came in after them.

Is this a glitch (like being able to jump over the side at the beginning area without being disqualified as some did before the glitch was fixed), or is it set up this way? If it's the former, I hope someone sees this and addresses it.

If it's the latter...well, that's kind of a bum deal to lose your flag because you skid further than the person coming in after you, ha!
