The autoupdater will not connect. Blizzard and Steam are functioning normally but once again the Cryptic product has issues.
Jack Emmert: "Starfleet and Klingon. ... So two factions, full PvE content." Al Rivera hates Klingons Star Trek Online: Agents of Jack Emmert All cloaks should be canon.
I was playing, yesterday, without any problems but now I can't login anymore. When I run STO, It opens a window named Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate, it says:
"Trying to update the launcher.
Please be patient.
Tried connecting 1 time."
It takes some minutes, then I get an error window " Patcher error", saying "The patchclient got a message while it was in a state with no response function."
I tried several times but somehow It doesnt update my game client.
Some mmorpg has a manual update patch, I wonder if STO has it too, if doesnt, it would be nice having it too.
It will avoid problems to players, specially just after an update, like now.
Best Regards.
PS: I already tested my Internet Connection, trhoughput, latency, everything is like yesterday, except my STO game.
I haven't been able to log on for 4 days now, have support ticket, they think it is my network problem.
However, the Cryptic Servers are laggy and down often.:(
I'm not posting here to complain but in hope to find a solution.
Here is my latest reply to my support ticket including pic I uploaded to them too.
Verified Connection to Cryptic Servers Please see attached jpg formatted picture.
I connect on average 1 minute, download 4Mbs and your latest Cryptic Launcher (decides to time out) errors out.
_ Suggest telling people IP range; "208.95.184.0 - 208.95.185.255" instead of subnet syntax; 208.95.184.0/23.
Sorry, no luck here. The file was exactly the same as the launcher I already had. I login to the launcher, but it says Patch instead of Engage. No updating occurs, it just hangs a few minutes until it crashes and the Cryptic error handler appears. Submitted 2 bug reports, been down 2 days so far.
But now, it never gets to start syncing. Here are my recent tries. Looks like no response from the servers:

After reading hundreds of posts about this error, there is no fix, this game sucks, no fix not even from the dev team, this doesn't happen in wow, rift or d3, only here, I guess this gives you the long sight of the future of this game = Going Nowhere.
Star Trek Online = FAIL
BTW If someone says reinstall Windows 7, this is not a fix this is there way of telling you to stop whinging.
the problem is with both the game and the internet.
there is a rouge ip block on the server thet is causing this prob.
it blocks the ip address and area of the game. wait for the next patch, your area will hopefully be allowed access.
Hope it helps.

LLAP, everyone.
The first time it lasted about a day and then just took care of itself. I had tried several things like removing power from the router, turning off protection software and firewall, etc. I had finally given up and gone to bed. The next day it was working again, so I just assumed that it had been a problem on the other end of the connection.
Yesterday it happened again. I tried many of the same things, gave up and went to bed, but this time I still couldn't connect when I woke up. In the USA a lot of people with cable modem rent their routers. I rent mine from my provider. The set up in my home has two routers, actually. One is wireless and one is direct cable. I usually have my gaming PC hooked to the direct router. Out of desperation I switched it to the wireless router.
That seems to have worked. I can now log in to the game. This whole problem might be a router issue. I use Charter Cable, the router that stopped working for this game (but would still work for the rest of the internet) was a Touchstone Telephony Modem, and the wireless router that now lets me connect to the launcher is made by Ubee.
I hope that helps somebody else troubleshoot their issue.

OMG it hit on my cmp. Abandon ship, run for your lives! Might be time to take a break and see if it fixes it self. Luckily i have other games that work perfectly. My zen points to xbox! BUJAAAH!!!!

Why does it open my explorer when trying to open launcher?
res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff_webOC.htm
This will NOT simply fix itself. That being said, there are two reasons why this happens and they are:
1. Magistr - Which I highly doubt as that's an ancient virus (in terms of computers)
or
2. Bad .DLL files
Now, what's a .dll file? Simple; you can view a .dll as a highway sign of sorts. You click on say, your IE icon and IE opens up if you have solid .dll's or if you have corrupt .dll's it may open up another program or it may do nothing or merely throw you an error.
That's wonderful, now how do I fix it?
Well, you can do one of two things:
1. Run Winblows restore and attempt a restore from a previously working version (I do not suggest this as I frankly have never trusted the Win Restore utility. Read up on Microshaft's KB database for more information regarding the restore util and actually find out why I don't like it or just run with it.
or
2. Format - That's right, a nuke and pave.
Sadly, these are really and honestly the only two things that can sort this out. I'll wager you haven't performed maintenance on your system in a very long time or you've recently had a virus or some other malicious software that's corrupted your system. Regardless of HOW this happened, know now that you must do something before the corruption spreads. I'm sorry to say that once a computer's software is corrupted its only a matter of time before it spreads (like a cancer) and begins to affect other systems.
Wow, I just sounded like an engineer... hmmm... Anywho, that's about the size of it and I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, although I do wish you the best and hope that I'm wrong.
She told me my relatively (2-3 weeks) new modem is off spec on one area and that might be causing the error?
I can easily play SWTOR, which I will be doing and not spending any money on STO or Champions this week.
So basically Cryptic's systems are just too picky or you have some other nefarious junk running that needs something other games don't?
Pretty suspicious.
Before you throw in the towel, try uninstalling Pando Media and then relaunch to test. This has fixed issues very similar to this in the past and I hope that if you do that, it'll work for you.
I don't have Pando Media installed unless it is masquerading as some other file?
The ISP Tech support was pretty sure it was the modem problem.
I will report back when I get my new one.
Otherwise I will simply get rid of STO and Champions.
Working as intended?
Have you attempted to directly connect your computer to the modem forgoing the router? Sometimes misconfiguration can cause issues such as this which emanate from the manufacturer. So no, I'm not saying it's "your fault" not at all.
