You may have missed the part about how easy this bug is to accidentally accomplish. I tried a ton of permutations of it and figured out that it is extraordinarily easy to create and more importantly by events that one would normally do in the course of average gameplay. You cant ban or suspend players for having the bug when probably the greater majority of the ones that have this bug dont even know it or know why. There is a certain other bug running rampant atm and I'd bet all of them have this one as I saw that behavior from this bug. That is just how accidentally easy this is to create they dont even know they have super ships for the most part.

If someone is dropping in with a mega juiced vampire bat build or EWP3 cycling Jemship and just stalking the hell out of the pvp queues, then start reporting him and after 20 reports pop up in Q&A something might be done on account of abnormal deuchebaggery.

I'm not sure who you were addressing w/the "You" pronoun. But even if it was by default on every ship, it doesn't follow people have to actually use the Boff abilities above what their ship should support. It's not like hitting CRF3 would auto APO3 at the same time.

Also, the Dev stated in this thread they won't be enforcing the ToS regarding this exploit. This means no matter how many tickets are created there will be nothing done for "abnormal deuchebaggery."

Edit: I forgot to mention they're not even admitting it is an exploit. Just they don't in general want/have the resources to enforce this kind of player abuse.

Dude, get over yourself. It's a bug. Fix is in the pipeline. Unbutton your pants and have a juice box. (I would say beer, but you seem underage)

Until then, either a) Do other stuff in the game, like PvE. or b) Go play another game. Stop trolling the dev response. It was nice enough that he let us know it's been recognized and worked on.

wtf?! I got an official warning from branflakes for trying to bring this bug to the devs' attention and now you are encouraging people to exploit it. Disgusting.

You realize this bug is ruining pvp and you are sitting there telling people to have fun with it. Well, guess what? IT'S NOT FUN TO GO UP AGAINST PEOPLE USING THIS EXPLOIT! I just don't understand your mindset at all.
There are people who won't understand how to properly use a bug that gives you every possible BOff power at once, as unbelievable as that sounds. It's not those players that are the cause for alarm; it's the ones who do know exactly how powerful that is.

It was already known it'd been worked on and the fix was in the pipeline. What was not known was:

    1. They aren't going to enforce their ToS regarding griefing via exploits.

    and

    2. They are willing to lie about exploitative bugs not being exploits.

    and

    3. When the fix was coming. It was actually in the pipeline before the most recent patch.

Further, this is not a new subject and speaking for just myself the issue has been brought up most recently here:

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=447701

    and in this thread:

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=453101

    Fyi, I'm not trolling.

Known, repro'd, and should be fixed very soon. Have fun with your extra Boff slots 'til then!

An employee of cryptic advocating an exploit of the game nice, you must feel as if your job is secure to do this. You just gave the a-ok to exploit broken mechanic in the game you work for see anything wrong with that. Guess that?s what haapens when they bring RP/PvE heroes to fix pvp haha what a joke. Well at least you will not be around that much longer. In advance bye bye borticus hope that STO still gots room for you.

Yup I got one too. I'm not going to wait for the apology however. Just decided to stop spending my money on this game from now on.

The fact is he has friends in high places, but only as high as cryptic goes PW could care less who he is. It the fact PW has a zero policy on exploitation of their games and STO is an entity owned by PW. Now usually a mother company would care less about a dev promoting exploits, but PW is a gaming division and thus has interest in what the teams of their games are doing. Especially team members for their newly acquired American market. I guess we will see in the long run though if he goes or stays on promoting exploit for years to come. I think he is use the method of ?If I say it?s not an exploit enough it will be believed.?

^^^ Not sure what this means, but even Farktoid said enjoy your extra boff slots on the forums when the bug was on Tribble... so the whole argument is stupid. Either way they already acknowledge it and said it will be fixed so they are not sweeping it under the rug.

Frankly, I think the only sound advice that one can give new players at this time is to stay away from PVP in STO.

This is the kind of thing that you buys should be dropping what you doing and fixing immediately and hot patching ASAP.

That pretty much sums up my opinion on this issue other than this is another blow to the already non-existance quality control and testing at Cryptic.

Hell, why not make it a party! Someone that knows what it takes to bug out your tray ought to post up how it's done then. Lets throw some gas on the fire since they say its not "really" a fire. We'll see how fuzzy the line is...

I hope by "very soon" you mean this coming patch. PvP has gotten out of control since you posted this comment and your following comment about it not being an exploit, which we both know is complete b.s. Every time I see someone using this exploit, I call them out on being the cheating scumbag that they are, and they say it's not an exploit or cheating and that even the devs said it's fine to use, and then they paste a link to comments you have made in this thread. I call them a cheating scumbag again and put them on my ignore list.

    Hi,

This thread has now most definitely run its course, and isn't providing any constructive feedback, so due to this as well as the high number of flaming/trolling posts and/or reported posts in this thread; I'm closing this thread down.

Players may need to re-slot their Bridge Officers and/or Bridge Officer abilities.

An issue was resolved that erroneously granted some players an extra Bridge Officer ability.

Heard about this, Buddy of mine had access to EVERY Science ability in his BOFF roster and a good chunk of the extra ENG abilities.

I think this may have been a leak on the future "Captain slot" coding.
