I've been reading this thread with great interest, in an attempt to improve my ship building ability, and I have to say that there is a lot of very interesting info in this thread.
I have a couple of questions about the aux to bat builds,
1) DontdrunkImshoot's builds make extensive use of RSP - but if I wanted to adapt this type of build for STF's would it make more sense to change this
EPtS1, AtB1, EWP1, DEM3
EPtA1, AtB1, RSP2
to this
EPtW1, AtB1, EWP1, DEM3
EPtA1, AtB1, EPTS3
with the goal of maximising damage output (I have a mirror AC and Vorcha to try this out on)
You mine as well change EptW1 to Engineering team if your going for the Double Aux 2 Bat Build. Mainly because you'll only need 2 Emergency power to X powers while running Double Aux 2 Bat. Other wise either will probobly work fine.
You think that your beta test was bad?

I have a couple of questions about the aux to bat builds,
2) I've been trying to improve my Vo'Quv(Sci captain) build, to get more up time on my CC abilities, and at the moment I'm using 3 blue deflector doffs, 1 blue Warp core engineer and 1 blue Gravimetric (couldn't afford purples).
With only a LtCmdr eng boff slot at the moment I run
EPTS1,EPTS2,AuxtoSif2 (all get rotated in my keybind)
Would attempting something like
EPtA,AtB1,AtB2
Give good enough uptime with 3 blue quality technician doffs to consider swapping out all self preservation healing to the science Boff slots, or would the aux drain from AtB render them useless.
would give equivalent levels of self preservation with increased uptime on the CC abilities and a payoff in terms of increased power levels. Before venturing down this potentially hugely expensive path I would appreciate some words of wisdom on wether this is likely to work or simply fail hard.
I'm running DBB+turrets front and BA+turrets rear (all polaron) to give me 360 degree coverage for subsytem targeting and run 2 hangers of Bops to bump up the DPS, with syphon drones on standby for drain/neutralising duty on TAC cubes and other hard targets if needed.
Problem with an Aux to Bat build on a ship like the Vor'quv is that using powers that rely on Aux is thrown out the window.
Also, using Aux to Bat 1 and 2 means you lose powers like EpTS 3, RSP 2, EWP 1 (If you'd use that), or DEM 2..
Powers I suppose you could use Powers that aren't as Aux Reliant..Such as Tractor Beam Repulsors, Viral Matrix, You could even use Energy Siphon to aid you but it's Aux Reliant, so when your aux goes down, as it's prone to do between cycles, those powers won't be useable regardless.
In other words, for a Vor'quv, it's probobly a bad Idea to use Double Aux to Bat, because of the need to have Aux for almost everything a Vor'quv accomplishes.

Drunk's build is good. You don't want 3 emergency powers. With 2 you have both 100% uptime. EptS you obvious need. But EptA you also need to get your aux powers up again, so your science skills work (HE, TSS). EptW you don't need since you already have extra weapons power transferd from auxiliary.
You say you want to do STFs. Then I advise you instead of RSP to get aceton beam to debuff cubes/gates, or extend shield (if you have no points in thread generation). If you need more shield resist/heals, go for EptS3, which results in fitting ET1.
the power from AtB and EPtS 1 already puts you pretty close to 125 shield power already, any EPtX skill higher then 1 is not needed. same goes with EPtW, set weapons to 100 and the power from AtB is all you need. 3 different EPtX is never a good idea, use ET1 is you really want to use EPtS3.
i find RSP quite useful in stfs, in cure wile killing probes, and in the other 2 wile shooting the gates at point plank range. if you don't want to use that though, i would suggest ET3, you will be able to use it every 15 seconds.
on the carrier you need more then that LTC station to make 2 AtB work, and you proboly are in need of that aux for other things. not every ship is going to be able to make use of 2 AtB and this is one of them in my opinion. short of that, you could run 2 purple damage control doffs so at least you could run 2 different types of EPtX at full up time with very minimal chance of failure.
Thanks for taking the time to answer, as a fairly new player it is a great help to get advice from the vets.
Looks like I'll be saving up those EC's for a while before I can afford to pick up the doffs that I'll need, but thanks to knowledge I've gleaned from this thread and others on the forum I can at least be a team asset rather than a burden.
I merged dontdrunkimshoot's A2B EWP spam and ghosty's control neb builds today on my Tac. Theoretical plan is for solid CC, utility, and decent DPS with 6 SWDs, tac buffs, EWP, low aux TBR and GW. I'm testing it now, but its pretty fun so far.
Ghosty is....well, no longer here to critique. But what about you, dontdrunk? Ideas?
Ship: Neb (If I start to really like it, Fleet Neb)
Weapon: 6 SWDs
Crew:
CDR SCI: HE, TSS, TBR, GW (last two may be changed)
ENS SCI: PH
LT TAC: TT, APD
LCDR ENG: EPTS, A2B, EWP
LT ENG: EPTS, A2B
Doffs:
3x Tech, 2x I don't know yet..... Thoughts?
This saucer zips around pretty readily in my current testing (due to high engine power from A2B), spamming EWP everywhere. The science abilities on the shortened CD are nice too. DPS seems pretty decent.

ive been thinking about building a neb too like this, due to 2 AtB swag. again, with a tac captain for maximum kirk potential.
VM and TBR are skills that do their thing without aux, well, TBR does its damage without aux, not its push. using a lot of sci skills that need lots of aux would be counter intuitive, but you gotta have heals of course.
im still mostly a sci noob, just never had that much interest in it. i might build something like this though, if i ever get a neb.
doffs other then tech doffs would be vm doffs. just make sure you hold off on using TBR wile someone is trapped in your plasma. i would proboly run plamsa torps and 1 beam array fore and aft for sub system disables.
and though mav and ghostly are no longer with us, i would heed the advice of 'king of the sandbox', he may have similar insight
perhaps i should remake this thread, im pretty good at not getting baned, and im not about to jump ship for MWO
I've been trying to spam TRIBBLE gas and GW, while staying at 4.5 km away so my no-aux TBR does its damage. It's a little difficult sometimes. I might swap that ability out for something else.
I'd like to swap out PH for TB, but not having a CC breaker is hard to stomach.
I'm pondering plasma torps and such as well, though the slower turn rate have turned me off thus far.
Perhaps its worth a go, as you've said.
Nevertheless, this is a pretty fun ship to buzz around in. I'll keep an eye out for another one of your build threads too.
'king of the sandbox' eh? I'll keep my eyes peeled. :-)

TBR is a soft hold counter, as in it pushes the holder out of effective hold range. siphon drones? runabouts? other players? crushed, or pushed away. yes, ive thought of everything lol.

This is true. Didn't think about it that way.
Perhaps, I'll drop GW for VM in the CDR slot as well. I've been abusing the SD doffs in the other two active slots, putting in 2 VM doffs might prove comical to observe.
A brief aside:
Just dueled an engineer friend (while I had the gravimetric doffs in the other two slots) and seeing gravity wells, aftershock wells, and plasma all over the place is pretty funny.
When you go to do the ripping out of this thread, just quote ghostys posts, that way you get the full thing every time
i could start the thread, and you can then post your stuff, so everything is in our own words. and yes, things need to be quoted that have external links for sure so they can be correctly copied. a bunch of old outdated stuff of mine i wont transfer over, just the final version for ships. i'll probably make post 1 the table of continence too, so its easiest to find by anyone going to the thread.

yes, this should should cause a hell of a mess, and ruin days like crazy without resorting to the truly hate able sci abilities. well, VM is quite hate able, but at least its not sensor spam
theres a sci ship thread like this cruiser thread, neb talk belongs over there i think.

We both know I will probably be ghosted soon If you quote mine, you can edit them later as needed if the game changes and I'm gone.

good point! hey, what do you thin about making it just 1 thread? we could include escorts in that too. with a well organized table of continence it should be fine.
im thinking about organizing things into 2 different categories, and then builds per ship.
the 'hi, im new to pvp and am looking for build advice', beginner section were everything is long form and its explained why you use some abilities not others. it would also be builds on a budget, if you cant afford leet doffs and equipment
the intermediate to advanced section thats full of acronyms and advanced strategy with high end doffs and equipment, talking about using P2W stuff and when and how to use those in combination with things. and the more specialty builds like 2 AtB and the like

That should work very well, as long as you make the TOC very clear.
Also it would make life alot easier to hot link into zone chat via keybind. I'd been struggling for months trying to figure out what other key I can quick hit to make a thread link into zone.
Also if you like I can write the keybind for your thread and post it there, so all you'll have to do is press C, and you'll drop a link to the thread into zone chat.

would the link in this post help? keybinds are fool proof with this, basically no work involved at all
