Retrait, Respecies, Resex, Recareer Tokens

I know this has been talked to death since closed beta, but will we ever get these type of tokens (Retrait, Respecies, Resex, and Recareer) in the Zen Store?

This is something that I believe everyone would love to be able to do thru the Zen Store. I have two toons I would like to change up.

Cryptic please chime in on this please.

    Cryptic has stated several times that they are aware people want them, and they eventually want to offer them, but there's no exact time-frame as to when they might be available.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    Retrait should have been added when all the traits were changed. We shouldn't have had to wait this long, since traits are the ONE THING in our character builds that we have NO CONTROL over once we create a character. We cannot change them or alter them in any way, and when the devs made changes to virtually all of them, it invalidated that portion of our characters.

    This isn't something that should wait. It is something that should be absolute TOP priority! :mad:

    It's just a friendly reminder that we still would like to see this and the sooner the better.

    You know like most other topics that people just need to keep bringing up topics until they finally do something about it. If we didn't we would have never have gotten things like the Death Penalty, Diffculty Slider, Carrier, Escort I mean a mini carrier, and etc.

    My assumption is that there must be either a manpower or technical limitation with regards to implementing the trait respec as they could charge for this and make quite a lot from it.

    Considering the cost of a skill respec, if there were not a technical limitation I imagine we would have it in-game already.


    Another possibility is that the traits are due for some kind of overhaul, seeing as some are extremely useful and some are terrible.


    Just speculating.

    Last thing I know is that Captain Gecko is working on it in his spare time... He said he would like to give the retrait-option together with a complete trait-overhaul.

    This was said in his last interview at priority one. I would like to know how far ahead he is too. My hopes are that he is ready til season 7. But like he always says himself: "Its not written in stone yet" :-)

    I just deleted and redid my toon from the start, was alot more fun that way.... I don't know how I feel about my previously sexy female human in a miniskirt getting a respec to a gruff old Tellarite with a bushy beard. Joking aside, I think its something that is hard to develop and that is why in these types of games in general it does not exsist often.
    Cloaking generators break down at first sign of language.

    The one thing that keeps me from starting a new toon is the doff system grind.

    Lol, if we have to wait for them to have the time to devote to "getting it right" we may as well assume they will never be available.

    Really? Leveling a char is ridiculously easy with Doffs. Oh, you meant maxing commendation categories. Meh, few of my chars have gotten past 4. Most of them that have did it in either Diplomacy or development. (Yay! for Hamlet!)

    Yeah, maxing out every DOFF Category (Ex. Science, Medical, Tactical, and etc.) is a pain and for a person who is always changing who their main is, the doff system has stopped that from happening and has stopped me from adding more toons. For me I like to change my main all the time ell at one time in my STO MMO history I had 15 toons (Yes all VAs), but not wanting to grind them all up thru the DOFF system I have down sized my toon population to 6.

    I don't like having an incomplete toon, having a toon with a incomplete DOFF Category bugs me. So I had to downsize how many toons I had or grind them all thru the DOFF system which wasn't going to happen.

    A Retrait, Respecies, Resex, Recareer tokens would atleast give users like me that don't want to grind thru the DOFF system again and again an opportunity to to play a different species in a different career path and with different traits without having to max out the DOFF system again and again.


    Hopefully we will get a Retrait, Respecies, Resex, Recareer tokens before I get bored with this toon and want to do something else, but don't want to grind thru the DOFF system again.

    Yeah, I know that Leveling a character is really easy, but getting them good gear and Max CXP is a whole 'nother story. I have done enough STF's to make my ears bleed with one character. I am never making more.

    It is not the same char now is it as I want to change some of mine to be especially my main which I made in hurry so I could get started playing.

    I want resilant or stubborn as a human.

    Some things to take into consideration (if you're reading this, Cryptic):

    1. I would pay for this for 5 out of 8 of my characters, the payday after you add it (or sooner).

    2. One out of three of my Gorn characters does not have bits of people stuck in his teeth; this is a problem, and requires a retrait.

    3. Gorn players cannot, at present, throw gigantic rocks. This would be an awesomely fun trait. Bernie Mac's character from the first Transformers movie had an excellent quote regarding the proper usage of thrown rocks.

    4. Many of us will want to change our traits whenever you rebalance things; this will be a steady income item for your business that no one can really complain about, so long as it isn't overpriced/broken.

    5. Additional species would be awesome for this; I have a Federation 'Cardassian' alien, but it would be nice if we got the proper neck bit for them, since maximum neck width just doesn't cut it. Give us new species, and you're bound to see a lot more of these respecies tokens sold, especially if you don't paint us into a corner with undesirable manditory traits.

    It's taken me 5 to 6 months to get my current main (If we don't get the tokens, my last main) to grind up all my DOFF categories to tier 3 (4 categories are tier 4 and 1 is tier 2). If I'm not grinding for Fleet marks or STFing I am DOFFing on all 6 toons.

    There is no way I am going to add another toon to the DOFF mix.

    I want a new system where: once you have chosen you character, you can't change him/her forever. No respec token and so on. Also, when the character dies, it is dead for good. Roll a new one. Same goes for ships, they need to be repurcahsed if you haven't missed your escape pod. (mechanics needs to be intorduced) This ultra hardcore mode can be unlocked through paying a z point fee. If you die and roll a new character, you have to pay again. Upside: once you have payed the starting fee, you don't have to pay anything else again. But if you die, you lose everything you have aquired up to that point.

    I have two characters. One Fed, One KDF. The likely hood of me buying more, is zilch. The likely hood of me buying these tokens? 100%. Possibly a couple of times. There is no excuse, in time/expense put into these things would easily be surpassed by what they'd sell for. Easily.

    meanwhile..create more accounts "the way you want them" thereby spending more money c-store items that you already purchased for your other toon because those items are not account wide unlocks...

    We know cryptic's theme.

    Each new account is a blackhole for the purchaser and cryptic is the blackhole.

    Every other MMO I have every played has had a Retrait, Respecies, Resex, Recareer Tokens. I don't understand why this is so hard for Cryptic to come out with.

    I'm starting to get bored with my current toon and would like a new one, but I really don't want to grind up a new toon.

    CRYPTIC PLEASE GIVE US A RETRAIT, RESPECIES, RESEX, RECAREER TOKENS.

    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

    Yeah really, I have multiple chars so I can PLAY with different setups, races, and careers. It's being able to swap chars and use a completely skill and ship setup!

    If it keeps people in game......YES. I am so tired of leveling new toons just to try out a new trait or a new species and every new system they add to STO makes wanting to level a new toon even more unappealing.

    So if a retrait, respecies, resex, recareer tokens keeps me interested in this MMO then yes give us the tokens, because not everyone wants 50 toons.
