been asking for this for 12months or more..

i cannot fathom why they wont do it, at $15-$20 a pop they would make a mint,

espcially with recent LTS's who now have access to the lib borg etc..
    caitian/feresan races

got $15 and a beer for the first dev to implement this..
let me check my inventory.. maybe some chat'o picard aswell

The custom Alien pool isn't as diverse as it looks at first glance. Most of the actual races have a trait or optional trait you can't get as an Alien.

and racial traits.... Alien gets a lot of really good ones, but most named races have a unique trait that Alien can't have. Some are unique abilities, others are improved versions of generic powers. see: http://www.stowiki.org/Trait_chart

Aliens can have all space traits. I think that's what he's referring to.

    I would pay zen to

Reset my race and passive skills
While keeping everything else the same
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

That's actually a good point. They don't get access to all of the space traits, but can choose 4. Named races can have between 1 and 3 space traits.

And just because I know someone will ask.... Here's a list of space traits: http://www.stowiki.org/Category:Space_Traits
There's only 8 in the game. To save people the time of looking them up:
Accurate: ALL races: increases space weapon accuracy by 10
Astrophysicist: NOT Caitian, Ferasan, Pakled, Saurian, or Lethean: +10 to sensors, flow capacitors, and particle generator
Efficient Captain: Alien, Benzite, Bolian, Lethean, Liberated Borg: increases warp core efficiency.
Elusive: half the races, including Alien: increases defense by 10.
Joined Symbiote: Joined Trill only: increases several ship stats, it gives you a total of 33.3 spread across 7 different stats.
Leadership: Humans only: increases hull repair and crew regen
Techie: NOT Caitian, Ferasan, Liberated Borg, Pakled, Saurian: +10 hull repair
Warp Theorist: NOT Caitian, Ferasan, Pakled, Saurian, Leathean: +10 to warp core potential and EPS

    see: http://www.stowiki.org/Trait_chart

As you can see, 4 of the 6 space traits that Alien gets are available to most if not all other races. Caitians, Ferasans, Pakleds, and Saurians are kinda screwed in the space traits department. One benefit of being an Alien is that you actually have the option of choosing 4 space traits. All of the other races have at least 1 required trait that is ground. That might be what he was thinking of. But the three BEST (IMO) are only available to Humans and Joined Trill, or available to all races.

*mental note: chart needs Ferasans* Ferasans only get 2 space traits, Accurate and Elusive.

On a side note they need to fix the Gorn passive traits. They have the short end of the stick when it comes to flexibility.

I would love to tailor my Gorn with sci traits that are appropriate etc... 1 player choice trait? Really? *Sigh*

yeah I really don't get their logic behind that... at least Gorn are the only race like that. But it still sucks. Another anomaly is that Saurian players don't get Reptilian strength or Efficient, but Boffs can.

But getting back to the Gorn, I think they should have made Reptilian Strength a better Resilient the same way Leadership is a better Techie.

I haven't said this in a long time so maybe it bears repeating:

I think species traits should be upgraded so that every PLAYER character gets 4 space and 4 ground. It's the only approach that can be done without anyone losing anything and it allows for species to have thematically required traits (say, three required ground traits) to have an even shot at getting played.

Traits are modest enough that it would have little effect on gameplay and as long as it's only PCs affected, it's not a dramatic change for PvE missions. For PvP, everyone has equally increased opportunity.

And here's a nifty side benefit:

It provides some advantage for teaming with live players instead of BOffs since you know any live player will have 4 space traits and 4 ground traits. Even the worst player will probably back you up better than the best BOff then.

I thought Cyptic was on the business to make money.

Just doesn't make any business sense to not make money off this need.

It's a nice idea, but.... there are only 8 space traits in the entire game. 2 of those are race specific. Also several races only have 2 options for space traits. They'd need to add more.

Which is why you'd go to 8 traits total.

You misunderstand. What I meant is that the game needs more space traits for that to be workable. Caitians have only 1 required trait, but MUST choose a second ground trait simply because they only have 2 options for space traits. (Accurate and Elusive) Allowing Caitians to choose 4 space traits is pointless when there's only 2 for them to choose from.

Alien has the most options here but even they only have 6 options.
