Mirror Universe ships

kronkstomperkronkstomper Member Posts: 4 Arc User
I got the mirror KDF battle cruiser and was excited and disapointed as well.
There is nothing about the ship that makes it stand out as from the Mirror universe.
You could have at least made it so it had a universal counsole or special weapon and for
the Federation the ability for them to use cannons.

I like the ship and will use it but sigh it wont pop like a galador or frengi or even the
Jem'hadar any way you could at least give us an option of giving them a Mirror ship only
paint job.

Dont forget the terran ships are basically consolation prizes to make lock boxes a bit better, its just a bit sad that the terran ships are essentially 100zen point Rear Admiral ships

The mirror ships are nothing more then a skin. STO devs embarrassed themselves again. They make ships that say they have a tactical advantage but they are identical to the lower admiral free ships short they were to busy to be bothered with the fact they swapped the crew capacity between star cruiser and assault cruiser. Everyday that goes on they compound insults to our intelligence with lies and double speak. I wouldnt invest in this game if it came with free stock in apple.

All they did was swap star and assault cruiser's skins and called them Terran.

Worked out for me because I wanted an Assault Crusier, and all i had to do was sell a handful of Doffs instead of spending my Dil. :D

It looks the same as my Star Cruiser with yellow bits, but it was cheap.

Do you have to use the Mirrorverse skins or can you use the regular ones as well? (I hate that yellow tint). And if you wanted an extra cruiser so you could spend your RA token on an escort or sci ship, getting an extra ship for a million EC instead of dilithium is a pretty good deal.

You can over-ride the MU skin -- it's an optional extra "material".

I left mine on, but I'm also using the Borg gear with visuals enabled.

I paid 2M ec for mine, but the price might drop more. I figured it was the price of a key anyways, so it just cut out the gambling.

Nope, they're pretty much bog-standard. Except the crew numbers are switched:

SC: 1000 crew, AC: 800 Crew.

MU AC: 1000 crew, MU SC: 800 Crew

From Dev Blog on Tholian Lockboxes:

"These unique Star Cruiser (Fed), Assault Cruiser (Fed) and Vor?cha Battle Cruiser (KDF) variants will offer different bridge officer slotting and console slotting than their ?Prime Universe? counterparts, as well as offering unique visuals not otherwise available for player ships."

I had a look and the Vor'Cha retrofit has the same console slots (4eng, 3tac, 2sci) as the MU Vo'cha battle cruiser. Same hull (36K) and same crew (1500).

But Retrofit has Cmdr & LtCmdr Eng, Lt Sci, Lt and Ens Tac Boffs, where the MU version has Cmdr & LtCmdr Eng, Lt and Ens Sci, Lt Tac Boffs.

So they got part of it right for KDF anyway... although i would have liked to have seen a 3,3,3 console slotting arrangement..

Just to make sure I'm not missing something:

    MUAC:

    TAC = Ens, Lt
    Eng = LtC, Com
    Sci = Lt

    Consoles: 4xEng, 2xSci, 3xTac

As near as I can tell it looks just like the regular AC slot as far as consoles and Boffs go.

I have edited and color coded boffs, and bolded and underlined differences between retrofit and MU battlecruiser Vorchas

but a picture is better than words.. Retrofit on the left, my Mirror Vorcha on the right

I love you can now make your assault cruiser look like the mirror universe counterpart just wish the iss prefix or Terran empire symbol. Does anyone know if you can make the vorcha cruiser look like the mirror version?

Yes. I believe the swap an LT and an ENS slot between TAC and SCI boffs. This is because they reversed the ships and their appearances. Star Cruiser really looks like the Assault Cruiser.

So if you look at it that way, compared to the ships they RESEMEBLE, there is a minor boff difference.

    They could have at least:

A: given them an ISS designation.

B: given them the purple engines normally, instead of having to use the Jem'Hadar shields to get the same effect.

That would have been enough to satisfy a lot of people, I think. (I could be wrong, though.)

    *sigh* not this debate again.

YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET AN I.S.S. DESIGNATION BECAUSE YOU ARE STILL TECHNICALLY STARFLEET OFFICERS. YOU DO NOT WORK OR REPRESENT THE TERRAN EMPIRE AND YOU NEVER WILL!

These are Terran Empire-designed ships stolen and refitted for Starfleet use.

After World War 2 ended, the United States Navy acquired a few ships from the German Navy and kept them in service. This did not mean that the personnel on those ships suddenly represented or worked for TRIBBLE Germany. It just meant that they slapped a "U.S.S." in front of the ship's original name.

C'mon, when the Tholian Lockboxes started, the MU ships were listed at more than a million EC. When I bought the MAC my Eng is flying, they were still 700k, and I'm really not regretting spending that - it allowed me to pick up a RSV for my RA token and saved me 120k dil, that was totally worth it.

And the MAC really is a very good ship, it's better than both the normal Assault Cruiser (+200 crew), and a lot better than a Star Cruiser (better inertia and the BOff layout is better suited towards an Eng, as you need the tac slots to tank).

Both the Mirror Universe Assault Cruiser and the Vor'cha are really worth the money unless you're already owning a better cruiser, and I'd advise every newbie to this game to pick one up just in case - if only to be able to spent their RA/BG token on an Escort/Raptor/BoP.
A bit of versatility never hurts, and this is a very cheap way to get there. ;)

The prices for the Mirror ships was no cheaper than 350K only 3 days ago. If you got yours for 20K, you got lucky. Were the other ships also listed at 20K at the time?

Yeah, they're listed at 600-700k now on the Exchange, to be honest I don't really mind as I paid 500k for mine and considering that's cheaper than buying a key and the Tholian LB has been discontinued, it's not too bad a price.

I say that you should buy them quick while you can, even if you're not the rank, I doubt you'll get them a lot cheaper later on and if you change your mind later, you could probably make a bit more than you spent back anyway.

I bought the mirror ships only because they were dirt cheap and my fleet is Terran themed. By dirt cheap I mean less than 200k each. However there is nothing special about it. Changing the specs on each ship so that an assault cruiser looks like a star cruiser...ohh I'm mirror derp derp derp. Hey devs, have you ever actually seen a Star Trek episode? Seriously, the mirror enterprise wasn't some sort of reversal or kirks ship, just used for different purposes :P. Oh where's the Terran Empire symbol? Your lame story telling suggests the empire came back, and you killed Smiley O'Brian for no reason whatsoever. So where is the Terran Empire symbol? On the bridge? No. On the ship? No Seriously, I don't think the devs have ever actually watched Star Trek. I suggest you devs have a Star Trek watching festival so you can better develop your products to appeal to your customers.

this would be perfect for me as i absolutely love the look of the thing
but i am a tac cruiser guy
and want the extra tac officer slot

best of both worlds as they say

Well, the fact of their being so cheap makes them great for trying out new things. For instance, I recently picked up an advanced escort and have been having fun with it. Granted, I had to hit the exchange for a pair of appropriate dual cannons, but EC's easy to recoup...

At various times, I have owned and used all the MU ships. I like them. They are a pleasant variant on the primes. But this is all they are, a variant. Not Godship versions of our favorite ships.

Up until I bought the Mogh, my Klink Sci was still flying a MU Vor'cha which he had been in for nearly a year. I may very well go back to it at some point.

For starters, you might try asking in a thread that hasn't been dead for over a year. :P
