i have just enough left over from my carrier to buy either fighter and was wondering what fighter would be best for missions like The Vault. now i have 746 zen left over and i did notice that we will be getting tholian lock box's soon so i was also wondering if i should save up and get keys for the box's (only if the odds are good though).
well i bought the stalker fighter and with it's stealth it's a nifty little ship. I did a few Deep Space Encounters in one just to test it out and it was really fun watching the stream of miss miss miss rise above the ship. Havent had a chance to test it out in the vault event yet though. But definitely a fun ship to fly.
I stuck my spare jem ha'dar XI space set on it, plus a point defence from thunderchild. science console for an additional 20 stealth. plus you can of course load dual heavy cannons on front (have green xi disruptors atm)
Will probably mess about with consoles and weapons and see what works best if i give the vault a go at some point.
there's really no place in the vault where stealth benefits you, since you have to kill everything in there anyway. the peregrine with its built-in cannon rapid fire in addition to a universal bridge officer slot will be more effective for that instance because you're getting two useful abilities instead of one.
the new tholian widow fighter from the lobi store will also be a pretty good option as it has both tac and science bridge officer slots, unlike most small craft which only get one bridge officer slot.

It is hard to say. They are both nice fighters. The Peregrine comes with an innate Cannon Rapid Fire I, so you don't have to use your only BOff Slot (Ensign Universal) for a boost to firepower.
On the other hand, the Stalker does have an innate Mask Energy Signature, so you can get very close to your target without being seen. It also comes with a console (Thoron Generator Universal Console) that generates a pulse does damage, drains Aux power, and can shut down the Aux subsystem and may Jam the target's sensors.
I lean towards the Stalker for the stealth, but the Peregrine does a bit more damage. Either way, they are fairly cheap, so you can get one now and earn enough Dilithium to convert to Zen to buy another fairly quickly (assuming you don't want to spend cash).
As to the new lock boxes, a 10-pack of Master Keys to unlock those boxes costs 1,125, which is more than you have, and I guarantee you that the odds are nowhere near 1 in 10 to get a ship from one. I wouldn't waste the Zen on it.

Being able to get position before you are fired on is a big advantage, and it comes with a Thoron Generator console that does damage, drains Aux, can shut down Aux subsystems and may Jam their sensors. It is true that the Peregrine will do more damage, but don't sell the Stalker short.

Here is it taking punishment in a DSE it's in the green blob of disruptor blast just off centre.
