TMP Connie is a sexy beast of a ship.

But advancing it to T5 highlights an interesting question...

How do you create a universe where an NX, ENT J (and everything in-between) can coexist in the same era?

Throw in a Bajoran Lightship and JJ iPrize and you're left with quite the puzzle to solve.

I don't envy this challenge that the devs are currently facing.

It is still a T1 ship. Its only been added back for peeps that dismissed it and want to buy it again for nostalgia.
Quite what one would want to is beyond me unless for roleplay reasons...

I have done some digging and thinking in the last week and with the announcement of the Fleet Escort and Fleet Science Vessel I find myself incredibly pissed at a Mr.Citter. Yes. Mr.Citter is CBS's representitive of Canon and Cryptic Studios content towards Star Trek Online Content and Canon Development. One reason why they are afraid is because with JJ in control of the TOS-Restart timeline they fear that with any endgame ship from the TOS and Movie Era1-6 will get JJ's interest where he will constantly sue their asses because of the usage of the ship. Since the ship is once again the center of the BIG SCREEN POPCORN movies. So. there is no rule or law preventing it from being in game. the representitive at CBS just doesn't want to get their asses sued for having such a favorable ship at endgame. this isn't the only thing CBS has interfered with. The developer who writes the Stories/Canon for this game has wrote quite a good chunk for the KDF side of things. But it continues to not see the light of day. Because of CBS. there is a whole list of stuff that hasn't made it into game because of them. I would write a list but I know one already exists buried in the caves of Cryptic Studios.

do you actually have some proof of what you say?

because somehow i doubt JJ is going to care if one of us gamers flies a tier 5 connie around the screen. a ship that wont even be the enterprise and does not even look the same ship he is using, and a ship that CBS has full legal rights to use if they want.

So when you're arguing for a T5 Connie. How are we to know which one it is? Personally, I have no interest in a T5 TOS Connie. I'd let a T5 TMP Connie slide. But that's me.

That said. If the Tier 2 ships are in there. Boom, T5 Constitution - movie style.

Personally I'm hoping for these babies

Where is Mr.Citter to back that statement up? Oh yeah. He doesn't post on the boards. Until he shows his face on the boards we'll just assume they are talking out of their butts.

The problems are with the limited 3 types of ship. Hull size makes no difference in the game, type rules all. Take carriers, biggest ships in the game, HUGE ships, but because they are science ships they only have 6 weapon systems.. same as the smallest hull size sci ship. Hull size could have gone two ways, more weapons since there are more places to mount them, or better/special weapons small hulls can't mount. The same goes for the cruisers/ look at the size of the Ody vs the Star and Assault cruisers, rules say 8 systems no matter the size. Escorts, vary greatly in size, but again type rules.

I do like what they did with the Armitage, the Akira is a much larger ship than the Defiant, yet it was badly placed below it on the tier list and stripped of the things it should have had, it finally got restored to where it should have been in the 1st place. The Prommy also suffers from the type problem, much bigger ship but stuck with the same low hull and limited device and weapon slots as the Frisbee/Defiant. A bigger ship should mean more than it does in the game, but hull size means nothing.

Just for fun and giggles, that link to Scotty and Picard on the Holodeck together? Scotty refers to serving on freighters, cruisers and starships. So if that dialogue is to put the final nail in the 'is it a Connie or not' debate, it also establishes that a starship is a distinct type of vessel from a cruiser.

    Discuss.

So where is your proof?

And I'm pretty sure someone else "confirmed" that the T5 label was a mistake and was fixed to T1.

/takes whatever bghost is drinking and tosses it out the airlock.

The Miranda-class is listed as a T1 Light Cruiser only. Taking it's Light Cruiser type from the t1 Connie - now simply called Constitution Cruiser.

In the Starbase Military Project IV there is a listing for Fleet Destroyer and Destroyer. NO ship is designated for it at this time. No Destroyer designation exists yet on the Ship Requisitions UI.

i can confirm its listed as a tier 1 ship along with the NX, oberth, and tos connie, costing 8000 dilithium and having nothing to do with the fleet system. so why would you say something not true?

the centaur class is a destroyer which is one of the variants of the miranda. also for the science vessel bit the other 2 ships are a galaxy and a Prometheus. the are no tier 1 fleet ships. it's official name is "Fleet Destroyer". epic name for a ship. i'll admit i could be wrong cause it's weird that they change the name of the miranda from light cruiser to destroyer. it might be a brand new ship. or.......... the Saladin...... i'm leaning more towards the centaur.

I do hope there are no T1 ships as T5. If that is the case then they have no excuse not to have a T5 connie type ship!

Indeed. I am still waiting for Star Fleet in this time of war to dredge the Yamato off the ocean floor and refit it as a starship, complete with wave motion gun capable if one-shotting entire lower tier fleets.

There are presumably some limits to which refits are practical, even with replicators. In fact with replicators it is more likely that simply building a new ship from scratch would be a lot less effort in most cases.

I would love if Leiji Matsumoto was in charge of ships for trek canon. good idea.

The listing of available Starfleet starships under Military Tier IV is incomplete. There are NO specific starship listed at all. The word, Prometheus, doesn't exist within the text. And Miranda certainly isn't either.

Only the KDF ships are clearly defined by type and name.

the prometheus is the advanced escort that's what it's called in game, the prometheus is a variant of the advanced escort. we already know from al rivera the fleet ships get the same variants as the dilithium/VAT5 ships. and no new variants. i use the prometheus and the galaxy cause it's more recognizable that advanced escort and exploration cruiser.

as for the destroyer the centaur is classified as a destroyer.

All the Miranda style ships are Tier 1 are designated as Light Cruisers in-game, not destroyers. Therefor, you are still wrong.

    looks the same ship wise.

19,500 base hull hp vs 10,00 for old

    1.25 shield mod (vs 1?)

    2/2 weapons vs 2/1

    4 device slots vs 2

    400 crew vs 200

    2/1/1 vs 1/1/1 for consoles

bridge officer slots are the same (1/1/1 for ensign)
