the destroyer that is listed is almost certainty the aquarius pet made playable. in the kdf ship store that bortasq pet bop is listed as a playable fleet ship. with the aquarius being even smaller then the defiant, destroyer is an incorrect size based classification for it, not even frigate is correct, corvette would be more appropriate.

there is no advanced escort fleet ships so far, and it doesn't sound like there will be due to the MVAM ability. the non fleet ship advanced escort just got a slight hull and hit point buff though. the fleet ui is still full of placeholders and thats likely a hold over based on previous plans

Yeah, I seem to recall the Aquarius being referred to a Destroyer once. So with the HoH'sus, its very likely its just that.

And I don't understand why the there is no Fleet AE, given that they are stepping up other Refits with the new Fleet Standard.

I got a bit of a tingle when they talked about the tier 5 Conni and then the 1000-day vet ship. FYI, Conni's are actually a lot more common in cannon then you think. On Memory Alpha if you read background info with the eps for TNG and DS9, there are a lot of references to them and characters that were suppose to have served on them. Stargazer was originally suppose to be a Conni refit, Picard mentioned to Scotty about a Cadet ship and Conni are seen at Wolf 359. Not to mention countless planned encounters on TNG that kept getting changed.

See, I can totally see a Tier 2/TMP Connie design in service. It looks a BIT off but not too off.

It's the TOS design I'd take some issue with unless Q was magically making Tier 5 versions for players or there was an Undine ship that could look like it (Undine ships can shapeshift in STO while retaining their native capabilities) or a holoemitter console.

I don't know that the distinction is clearly being made with devs or that they are clearly making the distinction with CBS.

And this is according to who?

Certainly not the creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry.

Gene stated if it is seen on screen, it is canon.

As such, the dedication plaques giving Physical evidence overrules the dialogue that script writers were too lazy go verify before filming.

93 episodes of TOS stating the ship is Starship Class with a physical onscreen dedication plaque overrules 2 or 3 script writers who hadn't done their research.

First before i say anything im totally on your side about most of this. however a note from Memory alpha.

"While probably discussed or originated in behind-the-scenes proposals and communications, the name "Constitution-class" originated in canon productions only as an unreadable graphic on a computer screen of a phaser diagram from Scotty's technical journal, in TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles". Authors of reference works such as the Star Fleet Technical Manual were privy to the fact that Enterprise herself was Constitution-class, even though it had never been mentioned in dialog or been readable on screen. Technical Manual drawings by Franz Joseph with the class name appeared on screen, again mostly unreadable, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. These were the first occasions a canonical production assigned the Constitution name to the class design of the Enterprise. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home assigned this class name to the refit Enterprise as well, although some production staff previously and, apparently, unofficially called that design Enterprise-class. The name Enterprise-class was also used in reference to the refitted Enterprise and the Enterprise-A in Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. However, that particular book is not considered canonical. The class name wasn't mentioned in dialog until 1987's Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Naked Now". The name has been mentioned numerous times and been more prominently visible in later series and episodes referencing ships of the TOS and movies design. "

Now i almost positive that the computer screen on the bridge when checkov tells kirk that someone has broken into spocks quartes shows a schematic of the TOS Enterprise and says Constitution Class on it. However i could be wrong about the word constitution being on that screen.

The fact that it shows the location of spocks quarters on an exterior of the TOS ship indicates that even though the ship had been modified she was still considered a member of the specific class.

this would also make the Saladin/Hermes Class

    And the Ptolemy Class

and by specific mention in Dialoge TMP the Federation Class

The same sort od Dialoge that calls for USS Columbia to rendezvous with USS Revere

Now if it is on sreen itis canon then fine. But this picking and choosing what is canon and isnt gets tiresome and old.

If it is on screen there for it is canon then we should be able to start seeing some TMP Saladins or Ptolemy or even a federation class in there some where.

Actually, Kirk asked Scotty if he was reading "another" Technical Manual.. In no way was is a reference to a Technical Manual on the Starship Class vessels.. Scotty is an Engineer.. as such he would be expected to keep up with Tech from all types of Technical manuals.

Later, when Kirk ordered Scotty confined to quarters, Scotty was happy because he could catch up on his technical "manuals".. stated in the plural. AKA, not necessarialy manuals about the Starship Class.
Now i almost positive that the computer screen on the bridge when checkov tells kirk that someone has broken into spocks quartes shows a schematic of the TOS Enterprise and says Constitution Class on it. However i could be wrong about the word constitution being on that screen.

The Class name is unreadable even in the Remasteresd edition... One can suppose that it says Constitution Class, but it is unreadable.. Done on purpose for a reason?

I agree, these should be separate ship classifications as per canon.

The thing people fail to realize is that when CBS says "NO" on the Connie, they are actually referring to the TOS Starship Class T1 ship, not the TMP Enterprise/Consitiution Class T2 ship.

That is the distinction I am trying to point out.. When the Devs say that CBS says no to the Connie, people automatically bundle the TMP T2 with the TOS T1, which is not the case.

CBS holds exclusive rights on the TOS T1 Starship Class (Fandom "Connie").. the TMP T2 Enterprise/Constitution Class on the other hand belongs to Viacom/Paramount with full usage rights given to CBS (part of the agreement of the CBS / Viacom split in 2005).

Now if the Devs aren't going to bring up the TMP Enterprise and Miranda hulls into the Fleet Store, then cool... however the Excelsior Class is also a Paramount/Viacom ship design and will most probably be part of the Fleet Ship Selection. The Excelsior Class is only about 14 years younger than the TMP Enterprise refit (Enterprise Class NCC-1701 launched 2271, Excelsior class launched 2285 (TSFS)). The Miranda Hull is supposedly created in between this time.

That is why I was saying that the T2 Miranda and Constitution classes should be considered for upgrading into the fleet stores, especially when considering the Excelcior Class being upgraded.. there surely was an upgraded hull design with the Excelcior, but after the transwarp failure in TSFS and it was retro fitted with the same warp core that the Enterprise had, the tech was basically identical on both ships, with exception of a faster loading torpedo tube. So why not upgrade then?

T2 Miranda? What are you even talking about? There is no T2 Miranda now and never has been.

And evidence points to T1/T2 Connie being bundled together in that no, seeing as there is no T5 version of either on tribble right now.

Face it guys. T5 Connie just is not happening.

Sorry, don't know how T2 even got in that sentence.

I know they won't be T5, but maybe bring up to T3/4?

It would be nice to start a new toon and have access to these hulls at higher ranks and for them to be viable, even it it isn't end tier.

I simply want a T5/4 Connie or Miranda simply because I'm sick of going into battle alongside 5 of the same ship. Nuthin' but Oddies and Defiants at endgame. With the occasional Dreadnought.

Come on though... give me the sacrifice of angels type battles with tons of different ships with different shapes and sizes slugging it out in the vacuum of space....

If it takes a T5 Connie or Miranda to break up the monotony, then MAKE IT SO.

Even if the Consitution-class name was in speculation back then, in Star Trek 6, it became unrefutable that the Enterprise is the Consitution-class Starship. Both the original TOS version and the Refit.

Was pretty sure CBS got everything Star Trek except Star Trek 11 (Abram's Reboot).

Either way, I'm pretty sure they are including the Consitution-Refit as well. STO supposed to be in the future, so there shouldn't be anymore Consitutions flying around.
So why not upgrade then?

Note: The TMP Enterprise is the Consitution Refit. (See ST6).

Even if the Excelsior launched in the TMP era, we have it still in use in the TNG Era all the way up to the Dominion war with the Lakota-Refit. And the Sovereign was to be the Excelsior's replacement.

So the T5 Excelsior is based on the Lakota-refit, and in the STO-era, being phased out in favor of the Sovereign (now on her first major refit).

The First Mirandas was made in the TOS-TMP Era, but doesn't mean those same ships are still flying around. In DS9 you see many Mirandas had 5 digit registrations, which means they are new ships, based on an older hull design. So that's why we won't see a T5 Miranda, because shes being phased out.

Now all said and done, doesn't mean Cryptic couldn't throw in new designed ships based on those older ships at T5. The Shikar, no, something newer. The Exeter is new, and given they made the Sabre as good as any T5 Escort, they could do a similar treatment. But to me, if there was any Consitution at end-game, shes going to be as larger as a Sovereign or Galaxy.
