It's hit and miss for me as well, started up about the same time. Just played fine for a few hours, then major failure. The disconnect is usually followed by odd issues like 'Failed to Authenticate' and script errors in the launcher window.
It's hard to blame someone's net service when the problem affects multiple people across the globe and has additional symptoms. I've not had connection issues with anything else, myself, to boot.
But I've had no problems at all connecting to STO all this week. If its not a connection problem, then how do you explain this???

Yes ignore the Hijack This log. The program was taken down as of yesterday.
Unfortunately your dxdiag was discarded by our system for some unknown reason.
Regardless, it seems that you will have to wait for the developers to fix this situation, hopefully within a week. They are aware of this issue, as many other users have submitted tickets and have posted in the forums about it.
Thank you for being patient with us as we try to solve this problem.

This is becoming unplayable now, game timeouts, server not responding, launcher won't even load. What on earth was broken? I did not have this issue until the website and forum changed. I would check the connection where private messages and ingame mail once were linked. Maybe something broke when you severed it.
Yeah I can't even get in game now. The launcher takes forever to load and once it does, gives me an "unable to authenticate" error. I was able to log on for 30 minutes earlier today, but got booted. Now I can't get back in.
I was unable to log in the first day after the PWE assimilation. I was able to overcome it by logging in as an administrator and setting up firewall rules to unblock the launcher and client, and that worked for a couple of days, but now even that's not working.
In that span, I've gone from p!$$ed at PWE to moderately irritated and now back to p!$$ed.
Just tried it again. Was able to get in and do half a mission before being booted. Launcher got stuck and had to manually close it in task manager. I think I'm done trying for now. Will wait to see if this gets fixed.
I have read about 3 pages of this and find it curious how only one person seems to think that it isn't "STO's" fault.
I have had the same issues that everyone here has described. I have uninstalled the game - reinstalled it - cleared my cache - ensured everything was up to date - checked my firewall - contacted support...
Nothing has gotten fixed.
Yes - it is intermittent - the errors. When it works - I am surprised. When it doesn't - it is expected.
I know it isn't my internet connection as it works fine with everything else. I am sure it has something to do with the linking of accounts. Somehow after I did that - everything has been crappy on my end. It has gotten to the point where I get kicked even when I am not transferring from one area to the next.
I am pissed.
I pay for Zen, Cryptic Points, you name it... this is just absurd that this issue appeas to remain unnoticed by the devs...
I have played STO since it came out... this is the worst experience I have had... Although many seem to share the same problem --- I have never felt so alone when it comes to finding support...
On the lucky chance I *do* get in, the chances of getting dropped seems to skyrocket anytime you change zones. Entering / Exiting anything, and there's a good chance of getting dropped.
Played for 6 hours without a problem, had to force close game when it finally stuck on a loading screen. Now I am back to Cannot Connect to Patch Server again, so the game plays when I am in it. I really dont think its ISP, Nettest showed all my ports are open and responding.
The irony is, while my brother is having the same problem you described (he says that he couldn't play after yesterday's maintenance, and I've seen the cannot connect to patch server thingy), me and my sister are having no problems playing from our computers.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
As many are still in the game unaffected I would guess this is one of those hit or miss type of issues, hopefully this being the case doesn't make finding a solution all the more difficult. For what its worth when you get the error window trying running the cryptic error app, it will do a log dump and send the files to cryptic.
Discovered something interesting. It seems that I can connect to and play on the Tribble test server with no issues at all. I can log in with no errors and transfer maps all I want with no server boots. But the moment I try to play on the main server...errors and server boots galore. So weird lol.
To get to Tribble you would need to get at the Launcher, I cant bring it up and as tech support told me to try a reinstall earlier in the week I no longer have my beta files.
Might as well add mine in too. 50Mb/s connection now and each time I've tested it. No issues with any web sites, games, downloads or speed tests. No outages or anything else while streaming movies (still get 10-11Mb's on my system while that is going on. Note: All nettests and attempts to connect to STO and Patch server were done with no other connection to the router active.
First 5 tries of nettest were timed out. 6th try..

We're not crazy. Something is definitely wrong, and not on our ends. I started having problems at about the same time. The exact same issues you guys are having. Setting a program to Administrator should never be necessary, but I tried it just the same. No joy.
I'm in the middle of a reinstall. I'll try the proxy-on when it gets done.
The problem is still here for me, it's been days seen I've been able to play this game and this is honestly frustrating. Considering all the cpoints I've poured into this game, the time, and dedication, because heaven knows Cryptic needs more support, I find that I'm only able to play on a very brief window of time before I'm kicked. I can barely even doff now.
This matter better be addressed by the end of the week or I'm gone.
We can hope its a week, thats what support said to expect but I am not feeling very optimistic that a dev hasnt dropped a msg of some kind saying they are sorry and working on it. The game hasnt been fully playable since 6/14 do I get a month free for my trouble or some c points maybe?
It sometimes lets you in, you can play for a number of hours then thats it, you can even relogin during that time frame too with no problem then it breaks again.
My reinstall experience was terrible, and indicative of the issues. Took several tries to get an install that didn't crash.
The reinstall didn't work, so I'd say don't bother if you haven't already. I can still play, but still getting the same problems as before, intermittent connectivity with the back-end servers. Problem's not on my end, and it's starting to sound like something very close to PWE's end of the network, if not their client and servers.
I'm occasionally timing out my connection with the Login server. I'm frequently timing out my connection with the Gameserver. I think the problem is either a change made to the client during the last patch that is either getting the connection wrong or causing the Gameserver to stop responding in enough time. Maybe both.
This has nothing to do with ping. Nothing to do with FPS. It's strictly a connection between the client and the servers. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think it's server-side issues as much as a bad client patch. Certain ports time out every so often via Nettest. The fact that many other folks are having the same problem tells me that it's something getting choked on the server side. Maybe the latest patch is making bad calls to the server, sort of an accidental self-imposed DDoS. Who knows. I just wish there'd be public acknowledgement of the issues.
I'm not quitting the game over it (unless they never get around to fixing it, of course). Just a little frustrated.

Yeah, but the funny thing is, it only happens to some people. I have a computer that's identical to that of my brother and sister, and only my brother is affected.
Edit: Is there any way to 'pause' a Game Card subscription? I think that option would be really helpful to my brother, due to the fact that he was leveling not one, but TWO characters to 50 this month, and if it doesn't get fixed REALLY soon... he'll have thrown the key away for nothing.
