Another Idea: (if the accountwide BO slots cut too much into PROFITS) Make the accountwide slots limited (2-6 slots for example) anything beyond that limit has to been aquired with slots per char.
Thanks to the 183rd voter, a full 80% of players polled have expressed a desire for account-wide slots, and would not buy character-only. 11% would buy character-only slots, and 9% will never buy at all.
56% (102) would buy account-wide slots, but NOT character-specific.
24% (44) have already bought character-specific slots, but would ONLY buy more if they were account-wide.
7% (12) have already bought character-specific slots, and would buy more.
1% (2) have already bought character-specific slots, and will never buy more.
4% (8) have not bought slots, and would not care either way if they did.
8% (15) will never buy slots from the C-Store.
I wonder how many of the 80% would take them up on the offer if they trialled a price.

I wonder if Cryptic is even paying any attention to this thread or poll for that fact.
Exactly. Without wishing to gripe and complain at Cryptic, it would make sense for the C-Store to offer both options.
From what I recall, the reason why it hasn't been implemented is that the additional Ship and Bridge Officer slots will cause a lot of server lag when changing locations. But it's lag that will happen for a single character at a time anyway, and to my knowledge would offer no discernable impact from a player who has bought these slots on a single character.
I could, of course, be wrong. But I still feel it is worth debating to determine what a fair C-Store price for account-wide slots would be.
I don't buy the argument about server resources. If it were a problem, they wouldn't have had a sale on just those slots. That being said, you won't see account wide slots for these items.
Seriously, they would make more money on this if it was account bound rather than per character. I will not buy slots until they make it account bound. In addition, I think some people will buy slots more than once.
I seriously do not see myself buying any Character Specific Ship, BOff, or Inventory/Bank slots. Not unless they reduce in price drastically and would be able to be applied to another character should you choose to delete the one they were applied to.
I would be way more likely to buy an "Account-Wide" upgrade, for a nominal fee, to give me more ship slots, BOFF slots and Inventory spaces across all of my characters. I seriously loathe character specific things in cash shops.
Heretic has recently stated every character that has completed the Diplomacy grind will receive an additional four Bridge Officers when Duty Officers go live.
That's a lot of BOffs to juggle at short notice, with no space to juggle them unless each character is paid for individually.
Should additional BOff slots be granted in this case? That way it becomes a reward and not an expense.

Wow... i hope that at least 50% of them will bring their own accomodation with them, otherwise they have to camp in cargobay 2... unfortunately hazardous materials are stored there too .
Rather then account wide options for those the the Store team shoud reevaluate there pricing.
Real micro transactions are small compared to some of the larger chunks you have to pay for.
Think about a ship option 1,500 points for a ship variant you only use for one or maybe two toons so why pay that much at all?
Something like a account wide vault (bank) where i can store gear and BOff's would be a more pressing matter to me as account wide option then BOff and Ship Slots.
The latest Ask Cryptic states these won't be going account wide. It's unfortunate too. I would of bought some of each if they were available in account wide but sadly, they don't want my money bad enough.
Well, it took nearly a year to get a response, but there we have it:
I guess the 12% polled who don't mind character-only slots are going to be happy.
*sigh, puts some money back in the purse* but thanks for asking.
But according to the F2P matrix we may get at least the BO-slots for some Promotions (retroactively) like the Captain (not sure about "missing BO slots) and the RA/VA promotions
I change uniforms nearly every time I log in. Seriously, uniform or personal changes are the reason I'm always broke. I recently thought about getting the +2 uniform slots until I realized it was per character instead of per account. I don't play just one character though, I have a science, an engineer and a KDF character that I hit up from time to time depending on how I want to play.
The fact that the slots are single character instead of per account is the reason I didn't buy it.

Please feel free to ask yourselves as well.
Cheers for getting in there early. For what it's worth, I've asked too.
Let's see if we get noticed this month!
The Good News is the question wasn't answered in the July Ask Cryptic.
Keep on advocating...
Character only, and limited to a few extra per character.
Strangely enough, the Bank Slots are cheaper, despite being inventory slots that can only be accessed at certain locations.
Guess you pay for the convenience.
STO is increasingly explicitly a cash shop game that makes you pay for the privilege of accessing the store

/Prepared to be ignored.
Likewise. First page and everything!

Let's see what happens...
Let's hope we get some joy in the August Ask Cryptic.
Seems like Cryptic is less into making money and more into making costomers unhappy....
We may be lucky with Perfect World, *maybe* under their "command" we will see improvements.
We can only hope.

By the time we get a response, this thread will have been going for nearly a year. So reporting for sticky.

Given (approximately) 4 in 5 players of the players polled won't be buying unless the slots are account-wide, it's a risky gamble for Cryptic.
Here's hoping the STO store follows the Champions lead and offers both character and account-wide slots, at corresponding price points.

As the forum is about the business model behind the game instead of the game itself, it seems appropriate.

(Unfortunately it seems that we will loose some bankspace)

So I am a statistic that the OP can use.
