Metallurgist, I completely agree with what you have stated. What these people cannot gather is the difference between legality and morality. There are legal loopholes that many companies and such can fall into. What is being done here might be legal in certain circles, but immoral in any circle.

Deceptive practices are never a good thing. Housing bubble, Derivatives market, Tungsten Steel inside gold bars on the international exchange market, oil in the gulf, depending on what the definition of "is" is, redefining what exclusive means....

Some people have no moral compass... well.. honestly I think MOST people have no moral compass. Explaining to them the idea of moral business practices is like trying to explain to cancer how it is killing it's host.

They say it is greed that drives people to wish to retain that which they purchased.... as they drool over taking what you paid a heavy cost for for nearly nothing.

They can't even see the irony as it slaps them so hard across the face, you can count the fingers in the red marks left behind.

Promises mean something. I for one will never be in line for any Cryptic promotions or provide any effort into any promotions Cryptic every puts out again. Trust is broken. I know that if I wait a bit, it will be for sale....no matter what they say now.

So keep talking like this is a good business practice guys,.... while your at it,.. go down to the Gulf with some pro BP banners and make a nice pep rally for the oil as it washes ashore.

ra ra sis boom ba.

also to you guys mouthing off about the oil in the gulf. I live in the gulf region. This is star trek online not a discussion forum about what to do about the problems in the gulf let's keep it limited to star trek online.

That post was in regard to Warpvis trolling, yet you "kronoso" refer to him as "I".

Excuse me, I need to catalog the elusive "multibox troll" into my pokedex. What an amazing discovery!

I will keep the conversation limited to where it applies.. business practices that are shady and immoral...

...and as the Russian epic of Cinderella says, "If the shoe fits,.. wear it."

So, as long as there are shady practices being made.. i will compare them to other shady practices... no matter if you approve of the reference or not.

I think you need to read what he wrote again.

You seem to skip what you don't want to read..and then make assumptive conclusions.

I see a lot of assumption coming from your direction.

Read ... it ... again.

She, actually. But that's neither here nor there.
<@Cryptic_Daeke> There will be plenty more exclusive offers on the line later in production. The Mirror Universe costume is exclusive, yes.
<@Cryptic_Daeke> Look at all the CO preorder deals.
<Sorbek> So the Uniform is exclusive? aka we will not be able to get it anywhere else?
<@Cryptic_Daeke> That's correct, Sorbek.

In case you did not catch that. Sorbek asks "we will not be able to get it anywhere else". To which Daeke confirms that.

Now this isn't a matter of "at the moment". Why? Because the question was phrased in a matter of future. "we will not be able to get it anywhere else?"

Also, you can see in the IRC log that Daeke had three lines in that snippet of the log. On two of the lines he confirmed the truely exclusive nature of the offer in black and white three times and on the other one, he implies it.

There were no blinders on. Whether Daeke had the authority or not, purchases of COLTS were driven by this QA session with Daeke, whose job it was to sell the COLTS to Star Trek Online fans.

Actually the STOLTS is currently $300, not $100. If I had the money, I would not loan it to you for two reasons 1: I do not know you. 2: You advocate violating agreements, so I even if I did know you and even if you were a friend, I can't trust you any more than I can trust Cryptic's promotional nonsense.

Also, I will not personally take Cryptic to court because I do not want the game to die. This must be the fourth or fifth time I've said as such. And, I will not shut up until a Cryptic employee tells me that the topic is offlimits on their forums. At which point I will leave the game and take it to CNN and perhaps the FTC.

At current, it's not worth anything more than asking Cryptic to make amends.

The thing is, I've been following Cryptic's tactics for quite some time. First, they issue apologies. Then they watch the threads carefully and silently. Meanwhile, they secretly plot and plan to make amends. The silence can last anywhere from 4 days to a month and a half.

However, at this point, if they make amends, that amends will serve, at least to me, to be a metric of trustworthiness. The moment they make it available to anyone else, I'm leaving. But the amends isn't here yet.

Try not to get too aggressive Jaruslothran. The reason I've remained civil the entire time is because they're trying to goad us into lashing out with personal attacks. At which point they'll hit the report button. The mods have a zero tolerance policy. I currently have 3 infractions from a stint where I was defending Cryptic against this one jerk who rather fervently claimed that Cryptic is under legal obligation to release their subscription numbers. I had 8 but 5 of them were reversed because the mods decided it was a bit too harsh. So I just pretend to be oblivious to their trolling and respond to everything dryly and at face value.

Ok, no problem. Just delete the quote and I will edit mine. These people are just beyond the pale. Just frustrates me that they cannot see the damage they are encouraging...

Yet, if the shoe was on the other foot, I have no doubt .. not even a second of hesitation in the thought that they would run screaming to every person they could proclaiming the great injustice of the situation.

Even if I didn't have these items, I would still be defending the rights of those who had been lied to. It is the principle of the matter.... and I will always try to be consistent in that.

I assumed you were referring to me because metal was getting rather upset when i suggested he just quit the game if he didn't like the way cryptic handled things but thnk what you want. and I'll tell you the same thing I've been telling metal and the others like him in these same tired old queeny threads.

Its not about that. Its about the fact I live in the gulf region and I'm tired of people up north telling us how to handle things down in the south such as the oil spill. you guys think we aren't handling things with it so damn well by all means effin come down here and do a gd better job then. Far as the farms and our local economy its totally screwed if we get a hurricane this season and the storm washes all that oil inland. All our crops will be destroyed but I doubt a pos like you would care anything about that your too concerned about people on a gd having costumes you paid for months before. That's much more important than our way of life and our agriculture in the south being destroyed by the oil if its washed ashore during a gd hurricane am I right? You wanted me to get ****ed off by you effin mentioning the guilf oil spill yeah I'm ****ed off

I am not taking pleasure in her misery. In fact I have made every effort to make her feel better about the situation. All I did is express my general happiness at the wide release of formerly exclusive items. I have acknowledged at every point her right to be upset. She just seems to think I need to be upset with her and that is not going to happen.

I am 33 and comparing bad business practices to other bad business practices. Both eventually lead to a blow out. Whether it is oil or loss of faith and customers, the damage will be done. Both will take a long time to recover from, if possible.

As far as what they cost me, i saved up and paid for them. I am not wealthy. I have no Credit Cards. I have no outstanding debt. I don't believe in it. Just because I worked more hours and saved up money, and gave up some things on the side, It does not mean I am rich.

More assumptions.

True, and nothing you say can prove you do either.

I work with the SAXET Gunshows which are held once a month there as well as an art dealership dealing with western prints.

But you know.. those facts must just be random.. because there could not be such a thing as a gun show in Texas called SAXET in Corpus Christi.

I worked for my Stepfather at a place called P & H Wildlife in New Braunfels, and did work for him going to shows and deliveries and traveling to his other 5 businesses which branched off, before he died.

Now I just work the art part (which is all that is left) with dealers in different areas... like the gulf.

Actually I think the conservative position would be to favor free markets, but that is getting into politics and we don't want to do that.:)
