Yeah, in hindsight I should have labled it "Much less likely to buy promotional items again." Suppose I'll do that now, if it'll let me.

Oh I was just letting out my frustration, but keep the Lifetime tag because if I were you, I would've already had a stroke. I would've definitely purchased the lifetime membership for the CO just to get that special Mirror Universe costume. I am a collector in pretty much anything unique. I am thanking God that I didn't know anything about the CO Lifetime membership since I was traveling around the world during that time =P

No matter what others say, Cryptic is doing an extreme injustice to the "collecting" aspect of the game. Whenever they hold another promotion, I insist that Cryptic MUST put a label "early access to C-Store Items" whenever they come up with another exclusives, as specified by the OP.

I hope Cryptic realizes that not everyone bought Lifetime to save money or jumped on other promotion wagons because of seeing the joy of their friends joining the game or collecting cool looking boxes that said "Collector's Edition" with a little hologram on it. Some actually collect the rare ingame items and there's absolutely no reason for some of us to participate in these unique promotions if these items will be available in C-Store later.

Well I all I can say is live and learn, it's to late now for those of you who bought multiple copies to get so called "exclusive items". I had thought about it but decided against it ( I am glad I did read all the warning posts from previous Cryptic customers and their experiences.)

What I have learned from this whole mess is that I will never buy another Cryptic product again, I had thought that SOE was the worst but this company is catching up if not passing them very fast.

The whole idea of the C-store bothers me to no end, those items should be free as part of the $15 monthly sub that you pay. It's not like people are standing in line to buy/play this game or that you only charge $5 a month for it. You should be thinking of throwing a bone to the few people left that are actually still playing this game instead of nickle and diming them at every turn. Whats next charging for season updates + patches?

It's kind of a shame that Cryptic has messed STO up so bad because it had some great potential but I'm afraid this ship has sailed.

I guess it wont matter once SWTOR is released, this game will just fade away (if it makes it that long) which is a real shame.

Both my hubby and I have lifetime on CO and STO. We're both much less likely to buy Lifetime, preorder, or anything else again because the exclusives we paid for (at least as far as Lifetime goes, preorders aren't really paying extra) are now on the CStore.

This is not an "I quit" thread. It's not a rage thread. It's not a "I hate Cryptic" thread. It's a "just going subscription and not buying into exclusive item hype next time" thread.

Yes, I know the playable Borg isn't up, but the CO Lifetime -> STO mirror universe exclusive is up.

Ultimately, we're not upset. We're just going to ignore any offers of exclusive items when making purchasing decisions around Cryptic or not. This is a pretty big blow considering we essentially paid a total of about $1200 collectively between the two of us.

He cares less than I do, I only care enough to now read "Exclusive" as "Paying $300 for Early Access For Something That costs $3 Just a Few Months Later"

That is to say that at least my husband and I don't suffer from the hyperbolic discounting fallacy that Cryptic's marketing team seems to be relying on at this point.

No what it seams to be is another whining thread. Pl.ain and simple about how dare cryptic betray you and blah blah blah. Please stop whining.

I understand that you don't like people to rock the boat. I get that. I really do. The problem is that positive change happens because of people who do rock the boat. People who are complacent only contribute to the problem and serve to reinforce and encourage further problems.

I hear your frustration and empathise.

Now i have only the time to play few online game, one i loved was called Pox Nora. They too did exatly the same with a limited edition Collectable called a pox harbinger. It was hard to get and worth a lot of in game pieces (at the time there ws only about 200 of them).

Then they put them on sale for money, they were real BAS@#$ds as they made each one progressivly more expensive. Soon people were paying 150 dollars for an "online collectable card" (which as they started put at 50 bucks is a huge mark up). I do not think cryptic have been that bad.

If there is to be a change i hope it is in the wording of the products.

    Just my $0.02

Ok, so let me get this straight. It's ok to be misleading to people who purchased it previously but it's not misleading to those who purchase it now? How ok will it be 4 months from now to mislead the people who purchase it now? Sorry, I really did not want to go there, but this is honestly the first thing that popped into my head when reading that.

    (edit)
↑ Look up there ↑ at the person above me. I'm not the only one who read it that way.

Your last post, Stormshade, was essentially an admission that the wording is misleading. You could cleverly reinterpret the words as exclusive meaning "you get these items for free, which is an exclusive right, with any other edition you'd have to buy them." But nope, instead it's misleading. An admission of guilt straight from Cryptic. I am seriously headdesking here.

That's not what I'm saying what I'm saying day after day regardless the forum there is a new thread created every day about the ds9 uniforms or the mirror universe uniforms or the borg officer or this or that. When is enough enough? You guys had it before everyone else? you guys were rich enough to afford a life time subscription. I was not I didn't even have money for this month's subscription a friend paid for mine with a gift card because he was just that swell of a guy. What I'm getting at is that there is no room for gneuine posts by the moderators or other players because these threads are on top all the time and if we create a genuine thread about something it will just get pushed down because of a thread like this because over a matter of a few uniforms that were once exclusive that are now in the c-store and because people got ****ed off and didn't like and felt their feelings were hurt.

Kudos by the way on the poem. I've seen a variation on the last part though.

    The variation was
    THEN THEY CAME for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up for me

I was not actually rich enough to buy the lifetime subscription. I bought it because I'm not rich enough to afford a monthly subscription. The way that works is quite simple. Every month that goes by further reduces the overall cost of the LTS. After 18 months, the lifetime subscription will have paid itself off. After that, as time goes on, the overall per-months of access cost of that approaches zero.

As for the variation, I hope you didn't think I was trying to misquote the poem. The one I grabbed was off of wikipedia. Of course it's translated from German and it's not a literal word for word translation (because then the grammar would be mixed up) so variations are likely to occur.

We got the mirror uni a MONTH ago, and paid $200 for them in August. If cryptic was looking to please people with stuff then EVERYTHING would have gone into the c-store. There was a forum riot over the Galaxy-x being for referrals only. Is that in the c-store? NOPE. Why not? Because they think they can get more overall money for it by tying it to 5 referrals. The mirror unis were tied to to the CO LTS, and they already have all our money.

Cryptic are proving to be a greedy, greedy corporation, and are willing to sacrifice customers they already have for customers they MAY get and a few buck from the c-store.

They said they wouldn't make the mirror unis available by any other means than the CO LTS to drive up sales for their very poor game. There are quotes from Daeke about this posted in the thread. I don't object to others having the mirror unis, just the fact that cryptic used it to sell a $200 package for a half finished game by saying they wouldn't be offered again.

Unless we buy items from the C-Store. Which, again, if you were willing to shell out $250 for a LTS, you probably bought more than one copy and/or the CO sub. At this point you're STILL worthless and it's better to anger that part of the gaming community they can't profit off of and instead appease that part that is still profitable. :(

I didn't, I could only afford to preorder two copies. One for myself and one for the hubby. In Beta, I was using /powerhue to change the power of my phasers to blue. He got the Constitution, which we find out after release has blue phasers. I was like "cool, but I don't need that, I have /powerhue". Then they removed /powerhue. That was mildly annoying but I understood (more or less) and moved on. But I always envied him and his blue phasers from there. Tetryon is just so late in the game and they don't pack much of a punch so I don't care for them.

But I never once thought "You know, they should put the TOS Connie on the CStore." Why? Because I made a decision to go for the Joined Trill rather than the TOS Constitution. I've had experiences with other games where exclusive items are exactly that. So I wasn't about to bang my head on the wall begging for something that, in my perception, I would never receive. That's why.

Eventually I heard that you can still get the TOS Connie if you buy a certain edition of the game. I thought "cool, but where do I go to get the proper version?" and could not find anything concrete, so I didn't bother. Even then, my mentality was still "Don't complain that you don't have it. You passed up your chance. You made a decision."

if they get their accounts banned then they can just go to their respective banks and have the transaction for the lifetime subscription overturned. I guess you didn't think about that did you. I have capital one for my bank 0 liability policy. and in my state all cryptic could do is get a judgement filed against them and they could never collect.

Sure, what's going on here isn't anywhere near that bad. But

There should not be a 'but' after that. I very strongly disagree with your use of that poem in this situation. That was about people being dragged off to be killed as if the extinguishing of human life was an assembly-line project. It has absolutely no correllation to what Cryptic is doing.

Lest you think I am focusing solely on that, let me add that I fully and 100% support your right to continue speaking out. In fact I do hope that someone at Cryptic does listen to you and does something, if for nobody else then at least the COLTS. (And I know that many people are unhappy with the entire situation, not just the COLTS.) We have the ability and right to speak out, and I would encourage anyone with an issue to speak it; that is how problems (hopefully) get resolved. You will never hear me say that you should not speak out when you have felt wronged. Just like I hope you understand why I had to say what I have here.

So if i am reading this right, could you do me a favour and buy me some round the world cruise tickets for me please. You pay for them and then say you don't agree with it being on you statement. In fact you must be the richest person in the world because surely you get you Bank 0 policy (did i call it by it's right name?) to cancel all your payments? Because if you don't agree with them, and surley if your paying for something you should not agree to it, you can just cancel it!

It's that sentement i was being sarcastic towards, mayby i did not express it clearly in the first place.

Your statment seems to suggest that you can behave any way you want and have no personal consrquences.
