Am I the only one who thinks the dell taco shuttle is totally lame? im going at max speed (but not full impulse, just max normal speed) and the little thing speeds up to catch up with you, stops...then lags behind and then catches up with you again? They should make its speed scale with the players so it at least doesnt look so ridiculously stupid.

If Cryptic posted a downtime estimate (start/end time) and indicated things they would not like us to do (such as try to login repeated while they are working on the problem) they would reduce the negative feelings and behaviors significantly.

They can do a lot to quiet the masses with effective communications.

LOTRO had excellent communications, and a sense of humor when they posted problem reports. They were also very timely in getting the information out.

I am, however, pleased that I can point at STO/Cryptic as a place that provide even less information about downtimes than the place I work. Now I will go back to beating on the login servers for fun.

    Exactly my point.

Back to bombing the login server.

ohh man, read all the posts and hoping server would back online.... STILL NOT.. As a lifer, I have been very patient w/Cryptic but this is NOT acceptable !!! This is live not beta anymore, you said you have added more servers, etc... Every testing or unexpected downtime should and must be done in BETA. I guess your bosses are all incompetent. Let's say the server down due to overload now, what will happen on Tuesday 02/02/2010? In the mean time, I will take my frustration on my wife and kids (lol j/k... time for counterstrike). Anyways, please work harder. Else you guys will be out of jobs :-)

MUD's are MUD's... and no they were not MMORPG's, which we have shortened too MMO for sanity's sake... Trying to Call MUD's an MMO just to say look at me I have been doing longer is just epeen.

I fondly remember the "launch" of Q-Link's Rabbitjack's Casino. Long load times. Crashing servers. Took them a month to get it right.

    Stardate: 2359

War has broken out between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Apparently a bad case of dysentery which raged through the ranks of Klingon Warriors brought about the war.

The cause was traced to the building of a Del Taco on Qo'nos, one of the last remaining Fast Food chains in existence. We should have known better, we were fools to ignore the dangers of Tacos.

In 1985 there was an internet of sorts... you could use a modem to call up someone else's computer and if they were running an old BBS they could have games that you could log in and play. They were generally text based.

True, ( i spent alot of time on BBS's =) BUT i wouldnt call any of those games MMO's.. nothing MASSIVLY about <10 people playing at a time... sure there might have been 1000+ people playing it but most of them time it was less then 10 at a time and they would log in play there alotted turns and log out... usualy less then 10 minutes....

Perhaps since its unscheduled 'crash' the portion of downtime would be unknown. Go hug your family or something!

Here's an idea for a drinking game...

Keep a bottle next to you and every time somebody asks, "Where's Sulu?" you have to do a shot.

    LOL

    Incoming transmition, Captain!

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your vessels. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."
