Starfleet Command would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the {UFP} a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
While we celebrate the holidays, Starfleet Command would like to take a moment to welcome all of our newest additions to the fleet. We hope you enjoy your time in the {UFP} fleet, and would encourage you to check out the many awesome features and events we provide as a fleet, and as a community.
SFC also sends out a sincere thank you to the many people who work behind the scenes, making the {UFP} a fleet we can continue to be proud of. Your committed efforts ensure the {UFP} has a long and bright future ahead of it.
As we say goodbye to 2010, we look toward 2011 with renewed expectations and confidence, hopeful of the many promises it has in store.
Star Trek Online has been going from strength to strength and the overall mood of the STO community is one of positive outlook toward the future. With Dan Stahl at the helm, STO is promising to make up for a lot of the initial disappointments many of us felt from launch. Season 4 promises a big update for ground combat (a good 50% of the game), and a whole host of other features. 2011 looks to be a good year for STO, and {UFP} is proud to continue to support it.
But not only STO, CBS have themselves confirmed that new Star Trek games are on the horizon, holding off to give STO some initial breathing room. Will 2011 be the year of announcements for new Star Trek games? We'll have to wait and see, but with the latest movie proving to be a box office success, Star Trek gaming is certainly likely to get a second look from developers.
Star Trek Infinite Space, the free to play browser MMO will be released in the coming year, and while we have little to go on so far, it's a positive step toward seeing more regular releases of Star Trek games - and for some perhaps, a positive step to see continued use of the pre-JJ era time-line.
{UFP} has shown remarkable resilience in its long history. It has stood the test of time, facing numerous challenges along the way but always managing to overcome them through the dedicated nature of its member base.
2010 has seen remarkable growth and change within the fleet for the better, and we can leave 2010 knowing we're a stronger, better equipped fleet moving into the new year.
2011 will mark the 9th year of {UFP}, and it's one we're collectively excited to see in.
With that, we hope you enjoy your holiday, and have a safe trip into the new year.
I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas, and has a great and safe new year
I'm quite chuffed. After I don't know how many hours of farming for minerals, alien artefacts, particle traces and that other thing (you'd think I'd remember but I guess I've suppressed the memories already), I finally had enough material to bump up my Research Skill points and acquire the Aegis set. I guess this is punishment for not having crafted in the past, but hopefully I'm quite caught up now.
Although I must say it was worth the effort I think. Having the entire set does give some nice bonuses. Not at all keen on the pink impulse engines but I can turn those off, and I do tend to use my Borg engines when travelling through sector space, but all in all, glad I did it.
Just don't have me do that again Cryptic... please.
I can't wait until tomorrow when TV goes back to normal. All these marathons are getting irritating; especially when they rerun the same films over and over again. Some marathon lol.
