Ok, so I just started STO again for like the 3rd or 4th time today and the Launcher was unexpectedly patching. After it was done I hit Engage and a window pops up Unable to start game client: client quit unexpectedly
Anybody else having the issue? Running the game through Steam atm.

i am now unable to get into the game following the patch, I AM NOW PISSED OFF.
Sent in a ticket regarding issue.
Post patch, if I try to launch the game client directly, it gives errors about missing files, including steam dll files. I found that odd since I'm still using the standalone launcher and have never used the Steam version.
Based on that, it seems like the patch server is handing out the wrong files all around maybe (as husk mentioned).
The game launches fine for me. However, I'm having issues playing "Quark's Lucky Seven." It just keeps crashing while loading the first map.
It initially launched fine for me, I was playing for about 2 hours when it crashed on me when I tried going to my bridge. After restart the game patched about 2GB worth and then would crash when trying to load the character it crashed on initially. One thing I did notice is the game was patching on every initial zone prior to the crash. Doing a force verify resulted in a 5.5 GB patch process which now keeps the game from launching at all.

Game crashed as I did the mission "Uneasy Alliance". Did force verify and also tried to launch from Stean and then Arc , same results,

(They usually patch on Thursdays and someone probably clicked an option they shouldn't have tonight just before they called it a day.)

I'm not putting down any money on this theory. You're probably right.
So the games been down for the whole day for some (a lot) of people, and Mike couldn't even bother to make an official post in the forum or update the launcher with a message? Just a single tweet for the mods to find and post here?
Communications still not a strong point obviously.
As for the actual fault, I got bored and did some digging, replacing the missing or bricked files, but even once it loads its still super unstable. As for why the new .exe is loading the old 32bit files its not used for a long time is probably related to why its so broken. Be interesting to see if they say what the fault was but I doubt that will happen.

Probably because the time that the issue has cropped up, first noticed by Cryptic and acknowledged means Kael was not at work at the time!! The game hasn't been down 'the whole day'.

I noticed it when I tried to patch my NWN LAST WEEK as I rarely go there but now I know what broke my STO
somehow I got it working again by editing windows registry (deleted all cryptic entries)
but then the new STO patch broke everything again
so support was telling me my computer was the problem
I tried to start the launcher this morning its patching again, 3 gb and it has been going for an hour I have verry little hope of being able to get in the last day of the event before it goes away unfortunate cause next time I will have to really push to keep up cause for me the loss of 1 day is a BIG deal.
