Hi all!
I hope you all are ready for the coming weekend, and are planning to have a good relaxing time of it, one way or another. In either case, I posted a question in "The Academy" section, but seeing as not as many people visit that section as here, I figured I would also ask my question here as well (I hope that's ok). So without further adu...
I sorta have a concept for a ship & character that I want to at least try and put together, but to do so I am going to have to get some more information about some things, and so it's question time yet again lol. I am thinking about making a pseudo "Rick & Morty" typer character concept, with Rick Sanchez as the captain, and his crew consisting of different variations of Morty. While Morty's per say seem to be fairly easy in a way, Rick's look is sorta throwing me off a bit; specifically the lab type trench coat he wears. So my first question is this... is there any clothes/costume pieces in the game that at least looks in passing like a lab/trench coat by chance? If so, what is it called, and where might I be able to find it?
Second question... I can invision if he had his way, Rick would have a Starship that while very powerful, functional, and dangerous, would look a bit... ugly, if not even steam punkish as well (btw, am I right in thinking that?). I really don't see him commanding a "pretty" ship like the Galaxy class for example lol. So, what ship(s) would you suggest that could fit the bill so to speak, not only in function & power, but appearance as well?
I was looking at the Fek'Ihri Gok'tad Carrier as to me at least, that's a fairly ugly ship, though quite dangerous (and the pets could be little "Morty's" too flying around, killing things lol), but as I can't seem to get that one in any shape or fashion, what would you all suggest instead? I was sorta thinking about a Science vessel (of course) that also had at least one hangar bay (for flying Morty's), but I am not sure. What do you all think?Oh, and what profession do you think Rick would have? Science or Engineer? I have yet to try out a Engineer, but I am not opposed to it, and it might be fun too with Rick always building things.
So yeah, there you go... I did happen to look a few winter event Jacket options in the exchange as
@phoenixc suggested in her reply (thanks again for that btw
), and the pure'ish white one certainly looks like it might be sorta satisfactory (even though Rick wears a open lab coat in the show), but I am still a bit stuck for a ship (even though the Fek'Ihri Fe'rang
@phoenixc also suggested "might" fit the bill as well), not to mention if he should have the Science or Engineering profession. So I am quite interested in hearing what ideas any of you might have on the subject.
Thanks again for your time, and I look forward to hearing from any and/or all of you...
Peace...

For the lab coat, is one of the Fed dress uniforms a long coat that's kind of similar? What about the Lincoln coat if you color it white?
It will be a C-Store purchase for either the Jupiter or Open Jacket, but might be worth it.
As for the Gok'tad... my fleet used to call the older Kar'fi the Catfish.

Yes, they added all the tech attachments (science kit, intel armband scanner, etc.) back in 2012 I think, and not much since besides a few badges and lobi store items.
Fez's are cool.
Haz we not a fez?

No. However female characters do have access to "leggings" so you can emulate thin, tight pants under the skant.

Personally I would suggest the Cnidarian Defender as a Rick themed Starship since it's the one that resembles his Car/Ship the most.
Yes, I have seen that one, and I am considering getting it. Thank you very much for the reminder @leemwatson.
True, but while that may be a great idea (and I did always want to get that ship), we can't get it anymore as the Risa Event has long since ended, right? Or am I mistaken in that we can't get it even with the Event being over with? If so, where exactly is it by chance? And yes, I checked the Dilithium, Lobi, and Zen stores, and it is not listed in them at all unfortunately (at least under Cnidarian Defender)...

Unfortunately, the summer event buyout ended on August 24th this year (they usually keep it open for about a month, give or take a week or two, after the event).
Yep, all those fashion items in the foundry going to waste. Put em into the tailor, darn it!
True, it is kind of halfway between a Fez and an Igbo cap, but it could pass as either one in a pinch.
Another good hat would be the gray Federation service cap from The Cage that went with the sparkly gray excursion jacket of the era even though it was only shown sitting on a console in Pike's cabin (they only made one before deciding the costume budget would not stretch far enough to actually equip landing parties with them) :
Well... technically speaking the service cap was seen again, but in the Kelvin Timeline.
Still need the NX-01 hat though.
And with the current ballcaps in game it can easily be done.
Perhaps, but they are still canon Starfleet attire in the Kelvin Timeline. At least they look better than another Kelvin Timeline hat I saw.
What even is that? A hat frame?
But we do have canon evidence that hats existed. Both in the 22nd Century, and at least one instance of one in the 23rd (The indicated hat in Pike's quarters from The Cage)

It wouldn't be out of line in any way to compare Starfleet to modern day Coast Guard or other similar groups during peace time. And we see pretty much in any era that Starfleet draws a lot from maritime traditions, referring to ships as female, navy rank structure for officers, naval terms, even some bybrid naval/submarine warfare.
To say that Starfleet is not military in any capacity is wrong. By nature it HAS to be to handle everything asked of it. It is a form of military in all but name. Just one that does FAR more than any modern military is asked of today.
