Indeed and considering the current state of the world what ever plans Cryptic had originally could have been changed due to not having the resources to do it at this point (or more accurately not having the ability to bring said resources into the same room to work on those missions effectively).
As it stands it's best to be very patient as the current state of the world has put rather severe limits to how well companies like Cryptic can function, so we must accept that things will be slower then normal.

This is likely true, and I hope it is, because the alternative, stretching that out for three weeks, would be terrible.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

I wouldn't mind some form of break from the event spam. Or if they feel the need to have another event, make it one with several options to break up the monotony. My Event Fatigue is pretty high right now.
Honestly if they haven't gotten most of the work done before they went into "stay at home" mode I suspect we won't be getting new events anytime soon (First Contact event will probably still happen but there won't be major changes compared to last year's event) this simply due to what state of the world is at this point, most if not all Cryptic employers are working out of their homes which will slow down things due to not being able to walk over and ask someone what their working on so communication within the teams will slow down.

They are apparently working on stuff from home. Plus, as demonstrated with the Ten Forward livestreams as of late, the team probably video chats with each other on a daily basis.
Talking will be the easy bit, its the programming side that will likely take longer.
They might just flip a switch and use one of the pahvo TFO's (or be nice and give both as a choice) as they would only really need the reward item adjusted from the previous thing.
3 weeks of AFKing the first contact day would be a bit much even for cryptics desire to make the bums on seats metrics look good.
Coming up to 2 years since the last MI but as they're still dancing around the discoball that's not likely to resurface for a while yet unless they shoehorn tilly into the end section for a threeway with leeta.
wild guess... it'll be first contact day, next week
Kinda doubt that, the rocket building seems too less of an effort to earn progress towards the token/1k lobi. Has to be a TFO that takes more than doing absolutely nothing to "win".
No three item selection box awards however, just one Spec Point.

Huh, looks like we really can earn progress by doing absolutely nothing though that "fresh coat of paint on this one" might imply that now it has to be actually played to earn something.

While I realize this is "technically" a Federation inspired event, it is a tad annoying that any faction can do it, but only the Feddy Bears (yet again!) get the special reward out of the prize box. 17 new comm badges. 17! So, where is the event that gives the KDF, or the Romulans, or Gods forbid the Jem'Hadar, anything like new costume unlocks, or (dare I say it), new ships? Oh, that's right. Those do not exist, because even though they are a viable playable race, they don't warrant the extra attention. Sorry for the rant. Just pisses me off that we are forced to play as Feddy Bears if we want any special perks. They introduce new factions, and shaft them in ways that are borderline criminal. And don't get me wrong. I have several Feddy Bear characters. But it would be nice to see the other factions get some love, too.
@ambassadorkael#6946 I hope that at least one of the '17' "never-before-released Comm Badges" is a Cardassian Legate badge.
You know that race that Cryptic charged 500 zen for and forgot about. I remember them talking about maybe including a Cardassian phaser pistol/rifle weapons as a mission reward in victory is life in one of their live streams. I guess they forgot about that too.
Oh well... I am sure those 17 variations of the same Star fleet Delta badges will be welcomed... *groans in disappointment* .

From a careful read of the blog, it kinda sounds like First Contact Day is NOT part 2 of the 4-part event. But it doesn't explicitly say so... it just doesn't mention that at all.
Well, I was going to use 7 Legacy Featured TFO Tokens towards progress on this Event. If this is eligible (nothing in Blog but may be implicit), I am going to add one Token at a time and see how it works out with the Badge Rewards.

Well, I still do all days anyway, for the Bonus Dilithium.

I generally prefer combat over minigames, however since the new queue sounds like it's gonna be a ground map I guess I'll keep building the replica Phoenix this year.
The 'fresh coat of paint' on the Rocket building may be changes to prevent loafers on that solemn ceremony.

Ponders Dreamily - "wouldn't it be wonderful to have refined dilithium as a reward once in a while instead of ore that is artificially limited to refine - just to keep players ponying up for Zen".

Just sayin'.
The console reads like a reworking (copy) of the singularity projector from one of the romulan birds.

And more progress on the big campaign doesn't hurt either.
At least we got options for this one.
Yeah... and no cutscenes... so great!
