PWE is infamous with forcing playing to spend money, by forcing them out of gameplay

    That's not really an answer.

How does Cryptic "force" you to buy zen for STO when they gave us 5 free T6 endgame ships last year, and all content is free to play without limits?

Yes, most other ships cost zen and so do convenience features like bank slots. But you don't NEED those even if you WANT a free T6 Connie.

This change simply decreases rates of inflation, which means there's still nothing to actually "fix" our problem. This is so painfully obviously an attempt to wring out players for more cash.

Hopefully, this will help make the Dyson Ground Battlezone more popular like the old days.

For me personally, I can't tolerate Dyson Ground Battlezone or any other shared combat zones, because I just don't enjoy shared battle maps on that scale.

So making this change to Admiralty will not be in the least bit effective in encouraging me to go to those zones.

STO is routinely regarded by posters on this site and reddit as a very friendly F2P model.

Yup, for all the complaining I do; I'll admit that STO's F2P model is much kinder than some other models out there. Is it 100% scum-free? No, just less scummy than other games. :D Personally, I wish it had not gone F2P at all because that puts 90%of the dev focus on creating the next thing to sell in the store and not content. The rate of content of STO has slowed alot since the pre-F2P days. But the store is always fresh with new stuff!

Cryptic is not forcing players to spend money, the player decides to spend money or not. They are not forcing you to play the game. You can decide to use the admiralty system or not even with the changes. It is still your choice.

That's why I prefer to say they 'force' players to buy Zen. You gonna grind for 200hrs or open your wallet and spend $50? Game companies prey upon human weaknesses like lack of patience and FOMO to make money.

you know farming means working for something instead of buying it?
it has the same meaning in any mmo

Let us try this again. I am free-to-play and I do not farm. You farm and you are free-to-play. Clearer? Thanks. :)

I love how they had to hide these changes in an announcement of a bonus xp campaign, and even then it was in the midst of a new super ultra mega ship reveal (featuring an uncountable number of drones to drive hype further) and another T6 ship coupon event campaign.

This kind of behaviour is just incorrigible. Almost on the level of the completely silent replacement of the Elite Starter Pack with the Elite Services Starter Pack.

It's not "wrong" or an "exploit" and I never say that it is.

However, it does not directly give Cryptic any money to keep the servers running, pay the license fee to CBS, pay salaries, hire the Star Trek casts for voice acting, etc. so it doesn't support the game.

Farming only benefits Cryptic when someone buys that dil using zen. Non-farmers who pay real world money are more important to the game's health. Without the real money spenders the servers shut down and you have nothing to farm and no one to buy your crops.

Cryptic does want to make F2P fun for most people to keep them coming back, so eventually some of them decide to spend real money.

No that is not what I am saying. I do build up and take from my dilithium and other currency piles but I do not farm. I do have goals on my characters, I just do not farm. That is not how I do things. Yes, it is slow but I play casually and focus on my main character mostly.

Unsure if this change will accomplish what Cryptic wants it to. Dil farmers will find a way to farm Dil. Me? I have eight chars and was doing just enough Admiralty stuff so I had a reserve of Dil to be able to use it as needed. For Upgrades and purchasing Fleet gear. I know I'll never have the opportunity to acquire Dilithium with the ease some claim. Nor am I concerned with doing so.

While I applaud the idea of getting people to play the game, instead of clicking through chars and windows, I do not think this will achieve Cryptic's alleged desired result. More people playing rather than working Admiralty cards.

How about making missions and TFOs which players, might actually want to play?
What about spending some time reworking other missions so they are in fact, playable? (I'm looking at you, Gon' Cra.)
Instead of 'fixing' something you perceive as broken, Cryptic, why not remove it? You set the precedent with Terror Dome.
I would like to remind the whole staff at Cryptic, along with a lot of other MMO's,
We the players are not your competition. We are your customers.

I happen to enjoy the Admiralty part of the game. It is a pleasant way to play STO throughout the day, instead of just when my free time allows. I set up Admiralty missions prior to leaving for work and then collect from them when I sit down to spend an hour or two playing nearly every evening. I believe firmly I am not the only player who does this.

But now I find out, one more time, I am playing this game wrong. I apparently do not spend enough Real Currency on this game. Although I have spent about US $40 to $60 per month on this game since March 2012.

I'll not touch Admiralty again after this change. Just like I no longer craft or DOff. Please help me understand how taking parts of the game away makes me play more? Because the longer I play, the more likely it is I will spend Real Currency on this game.

This is the reason why casinos do not have visible clocks anywhere on the gaming floor.

If you don't want me to spend my free time playing STO, Cryptic, there are easier ways to accomplish this than removing parts of the game I enjoy.

so you farm, for yourself. you put effort and time into achieving your goal in an MMO.

I grind, I don't farm. Some people have dedicated characters that they use for farming, I do not.

Yup, this kills it for me. Ill grind them to 10, then abandon admiralty. The dili was the only reason I was doing it on three toons. Now its pointless.

I really hate the change to the Klingon Admiralty campaign. I wish they'd changed the Romulan or Federation campaign instead. I don't need Romulan upgrades with the Phoenix packs and the Federation campaign reward is weak. It would be nice if they granted something useful like Fleet Marks, Lobi, or Phoenix packs....

I like the changes but I agree that Romulan upgrades are worthless and that Cryptic could consider changing them to something more useful like 2 phoenix packs or just straight up 2 phoenix upgrades. With this change to Klingon and Ferengi admiralty, the Federation reward of spec points is now more equal to the Klingon and Fernegi rewards. I'd leave Federation admiralty as it is going forward.

Balancing the in-game economics is at best a red herring but probably just an excuse or lie. This as well as the omega trace being bound to character is about extracting more real-world cash from players.

I have a lot because: I play the Annual events, ya know. Between Cryptic making the collection of Admiralty ship cards automatic AND unlocking the Romulan ships to everyone. I do have ship cards coming out of my ears.

I can only run 6 assignments at a time...I only do that Admiralty once a day. I rather DOFF or play Annual Event Games.... like kill snowmen or hunt for bird eggs... well, right now, going to sign on to play the Omega games (last night for it).

Well, I do all Admiralty Campaigns until I get them all to Level 10. Then I concentrate on the Federation Tour to earm XP for Spec Points and the 10 of 10 until all Specs are maxd out. During a day doing Federation, I will keep doing Assignments (those with the most XP) until I am able to slot the Tour Assignment. Then I move on to KDF or Ferengi Assignments until I get to a Tour, etc.

Hopefully, this means someone other than myself will donate Dilitium to the Colony Sub-holdings until they finish out their Tier III to IV climb. Fleet Dilitium is only good for Projects, not to buy Fleet equipment.

Notice that these changes are announced the day before they are implemented and are tied to a Bonus Admiralty Event. They say that you can get more Campaign XP, well that's not very productive for all those Admiralty maxed out Characters. Also, is the Daily Campaign XP Limit of 10,000 lifted? Otherwise, getting a bonus doesn't do much good if it quickly caps out.

PWE is infamous with forcing playing to spend money, by forcing them out of gameplay

If that is the case then why did the Monthly subscriptions get ended that was a monthly income for them right there. So the logic of forcing play to spend money don't work as an argument.
