Anyways, silly me, I should have got the reference for us to be able to get the Jellyfish, even if it's been years since the Kelvin Incident brought us to the split in the timeline.
Considering that Star Trek: Picard deals with the aftermath of the destruction of Romulus, it's very appropriate that we'd get the ship that Spock used to try to contain the Hobus explosion. Star Trek: Picard was scheduled to be released this winter, but it was delayed 'til after New Years.
I have tried all of that and nothing works for me, I cannot get the coordination necessary to do all that and actually win the race at all. I gave up any further attempts 2 yrs ago.
I realize that the jump technique sounds like a lot when described (it's really not that hard), but the roll technique is dead simple. Are you saying you are completely unable to double tap directional keys to make your character dodge/roll?
I hope this is not an offensive question, as no offense is intended, but are you perhaps having to play the game while having to navigate a physical disability? I know some players who have motile difficulties of one form or another that prevent them from performing certain physical combinations in games, or make them really difficult to perform, especially without the use of hotkeys or special controllers, etc. I only ask as knowing might help in formulating a solution.
Baring that, I am fairly certain one can practically win the race without ever even sprinting... When I run the race, my goal is to finish my race before the person who started the race before me, I occasionally do over take them, and if not, they finish just a few yards ahead of me, so clearly my full on try-hard is unnecessary to win one's personal competition with the AI. So you might try "speed walking" the whole thing, and if that doesn't quite get it, speed walking with only occasional "safe" sprints.
No more attempts to beat the unbeatable will be done.
Unfortunately there is no technique or hotkey I am aware of that will compensate for an unwillingness to try.

P.S. (this would be a separate comment, but the PO-lice done showed up, so edit previous comment, I shall, even though discussing the winter event in a post that talks about the winter event because someone complained that they would never be able to get the thing announced in the post would seem fully on topic and actually helpful... but I digress...)
Alrighty, tomilak, I have done EVEN MORE research for you, so here are some further suggestions:
Divert all power to the speed walking shoes!:
The burnam CQC envirosuit or armor will both boost your run speed (and as it turns out, your walking speed) by 10%.
The Hostile Environment Shield from the same discovery reputation will boost your run speed (and walk) by 20% when your shields are full, which during the race, they should be.
Also, there are craftable weapons on the exchange with a modifier called "[run]" <=type that into the exchange (minus quotes) and search and you should find heaps of them real cheap. Might get more expensive when winter event rolls around. But these weapons will boost speed by 15% when equipped as your primary weapon (I tried toggling between my two weapons and noticed the modifier seems to stop working when it is in the secondary slot.)
There is also the physical conditioning ground reputation trait 6.3% bonus to run speed, and the close quarters combatant ground reputation trait 3.8% bonus to run speed.
Total=55.1% bonus speed.
With all of these speed bonuses making your walking speed faster but not quite running fast, should you be unable to win with normal walking speed only, you can keep adding these bonuses up until you reach a point that you can win without your speed becoming unmanageable.
Also, if you do have issues with double tapping directional keys to roll, under escape=>options=>keybinds, there is a listing for "roll" right under "run" you can make that a quick button press like "alt" (right next to space for easy hitting) if you don't like your character jumping every time you try to alt+tab out of the game, you can make it "alt+w." I found that "alt+w" would trigger while holding W for forward motion and tapping alt, so it has basically the same effect without the "jumping for alt tab effect." "alt+w" also worked while holding W and Q (holding mouse button for camera control) so it can even roll you diagonally if set this way. Or maybe make it "R" that felt rather comfortable for me, or make it any key you wish really. This will allow you to easily roll with one key press, and as I said, my experimenting with frost boots seemed to indicate rolling would be the best solution as it definitively stops slide in a way jumping may not if executed incorrectly.
With all of these tools at your disposal, I declare you have no reason not to try this season. In the words of the immortal Mr. Spock:
My guess for the "Altamid Drones" is that they will be a hangar pet event reward of some sort. STO rolled out those "one pet is multiple ships" hangar pets with the Discovery Constitution and D7, but there aren't that many instances of clouds of fighters in star trek to make that mechanic worthwhile. It made sense for the Discovery Constitution, and it makes sense for the Altamid swarmships (though their attacks were purely.... melee... which would be interesting) but not for tons of others.
It would certainly add some variety to the event rewards, which have increasingly been ground equipment (blech!).
Yeah what did they mean the ships we've been waiting for? What ships???
They mean a T6 Vo'Quv Carrier OR WE RIOT.
I won't riot, but I'll tut derisively
As to the Q race... run, jump then turn in midair while using shooter mode, reactivate run, repeat...and learn where you can clip turns to keep a straight line
PLEASE put in the lighting crackles between their stares, at least!
Nice to see someone else knows the classics. And a crossover of sorts would be completely justified given how a certain redheaded 'greatest scientist in the universe' isn't above tinkering with dimensional rifts and whatnot...
Folks, this is not the thread for winter event advice. Please stay on topic. Thank you.

Of course, what STO needs more than anything is some way to have fan/player created content and missions to fill in the gaps between episodes and to reduce the need to repeat TFOs ad nauseam just to avoid boredom...
I hope they decide to run 'Hearts and Minds' since they didn't have time for a 'Holloween' Episode. We could also use either a Featured Episode Rerun or, even better, put those Unique Items back into the corresponding Episodes to begin with. AND NO do not add them to the Phoenix Store like they did with the Kobali Uniform.
No work involved here, just turn the stuff on.

And last but not least, a celebration of Star Trek Online ships you've been waiting for. So I'll finally be able to get my Steamrunner, Oberth, Nova and various lower level Orion ships at T6? Cool beans.
Jumping to conclusions can too easily lead to disappointment.
Yeah, kinda meant it as sarcasm. Text on a screen doesn't convey that well, at least not when handled (mishandled) by me. Those are some ships I want, but I know they won't be there for the anniversary.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
I think it could be the new physical models they found a partner to release .
And it occurs me that the swarm ships mean that they have finally aquired the rights to use stuff from Star Trek Beyond. This could mean both yet another new version of the Constitution Class like the retrofit it got at the end of the movie, maybe this Constitution will be an Escort or Science Dreadnaught ship and even better we might get the wicked Space Station in the movie.
Will it be a carrier? I consulted my Magic 8-ball and it said 'Cannot Predict Now'.

Btw what the heck is the Engles and Seches bundle?
I suspect it's akin to the Caitian/Ferasan escort bundle, but instead containing the prime-universe Engle-class (as distinct from its Terran version, found here), and its apparent KDF counterpart, the Sechs-class (which can be found in among other places the Defense of Starbase One TFO).

But the Mirror Universe Engle includes the Prime Universe Engle skin. So the Engle from the bundle will likely have a different skin for the hangar pet and different color animation for the experimental weapon and console power.
Not particularly impressed. Still waiting for that exploration system. You know... the logical result of Exploration having swept the poll Cryptic posted a while back asking the community what it wanted to see them focus on next... I said it before and I will say it again. I think they included that option with the expectation that it would be the choice of the minority, that way they could shoot down further requests for it with a "the community voted exploration as the least area of interest so no." But it was the majority response. So we got a season update that had a catch phrase about getting back to exploration, and that is how the narrative of the season content started off, but then it went right back to business as usual... blowing everything that flies up in space and killing everything that moves on ground. But the mentioned exploration in the narrative, so that takes care of the poll results, right?
Not to me. Not a single penny will find itself from me into PWE's coffers until we can start exploring strange newe worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and boldly going where no-one has gone before... So no... this roadmap does not offer me anything of interest...
They really want to sell a story arc as the new exploration system? *sigh*
Some little voice in me hoped that the foundry was sacrificed to make space for a massive exploration system.

Space really is not a problem nowadays, storage is really cheap compared to everything else. They got rid of the foundry because it was based on an older engine and just about every time they updated the main game it broke the foundry again.
Cryptic have said that they only had one or two more story arc ideas left before Discovery and all these other trek shows came out.
The only one confirmed is a "Mirror Leeta returns" arc, which was the original arc planned for after ViL, and was supposed to finish off Mirror Leeta's story, and is what they have said they will get around to after Discovery is over. The other is presumably a "Make the Borg great again" arc, since they have talked about, many times over the years, how they want to make the Borg end game enemies again, revamp the Borg TFOs, and replace Defera. And that would be a great time to add a Borg Cooperative faction, which is the only major faction choice we don't have yet.
So yeah... that's about it for non Disco/Picard/Lower Decks/Section 31 story arcs.
IDK - after the Discovery stuff is over, I'm 100% certain they'll do content that ties into "Star Trek: Picard" prior to doing anything more of Geko's storylines. Then we'll get Star Trek: Section 31" tie ins (or hell, they'll do a tie in to the animated "Lower Decks" or Nickelodeon animated Trek series by that time.
^^^
basically, for the time that new Trek series appear on CBSAA and elsewhere, expect story tie ins to those for the foreseeable future.

Losing faith in humanity, one person at a time.
Yeah, my though on that entry was "Ok, what's the ship I want the most? That one won't be included."
