So when is Boreth being moved in-game?

somtaawkharsomtaawkhar Member Posts: 10,222 Arc User
Was re-watching the latest episode of Discovery and noticed this little map seen in one of the last few seconds of the episode

44T48lr.png

Discovery has moved Boreth from the location it was in the Star Charts, to a new, now canon, location. When can we expect to see the system moved in-game to reflect that I wonder.

Here is the Star Charts map the game is based off of, and the in-game map itself, for comparison, with Boreth's old and new locations boxed

cause we're trekkies and we care about nonsense like this?

I don't see why Discovery keeps messing up canon... And I don't think Star Trek Online should move Boreth just to fit Discovery, when it's location have already been determined in The Next Generation: "Rightful Heir" and Deep Space Nine: "The Muse".

It's location is also placed in the Star Trek - Star Charts..

No it wasn't , Trek always moves planets...apparently everything became closer to DS9 whenever plot convenient

    • Discovery is a TV show, so it's canon.
    • The Star Charts are a book, so are not canon.
    • TNG and DS9 gave no location for Borath, so DSC is not changing anything canonical at all.

Borath should be moved ingame as well as turned into a Temporal Adventure Zone.

Amen and Amen again. I'm still wondering how STO screwed up by putting Solar system in Beta space.

I'm still waiting for STO to add Ceti Alpha 5, Regula 1 and the planet inside the Great Barrier for nostalgia.

Sol is right on the Alpha/Beta border.

I don't think we're getting Sha'ka're because our map doesn't go to the center of the galaxy. And with the current location of the Mutara Nebula... I kinda have to wonder if Regula 1 is even still there after about 100 years or so.

Your square is in the wrong location, it should be to the left of the Yan Nebula. as you come from Qonos, almost directly in front of the Yan Nebula, a little to the left.

since you mentioned it, pheben is also out of position as well and needs to be moved a little to the left, the distance between mempa and pheben on the discovery picture and the one in game isn't accurate either.

    Somtaawkhar,
The Delta is out of map yet we travel to it. The Mutara nebula was absorbed by the genesis wave and it's elements were formed into the planet. If science was correct back in the 70's they said nebulas eventually ball up into planets too and genesis wave can't create dirt out of thin air. Just sayin.

As for the Delta quadrant: yes, it has a different map, and new maps could be made for other sections of Alpha and Beta. But if there's only one thing to travel to, it probably won't happen.

A name for it probably. to idenfity it as a specific nebula rather than a class. in the same way you got Somtaawkhar and Markhawkman to tell the two of you apart even though you're both human.

That's only an unsubstantiated claim. I will believe it when I see it that anybody here is human (or vulcan or whathaveyou). And no, paid actors at conventions don't count.

Yea... in a novel I have, Voyager came across a Nebula they called a Mutara type. If I had to guess, the Mutara class nebula is probably named after the Mutara Nebula, and have the same characteristics as said Nebula, which include the effects on ship systems such as shields and power.

Yeah it wouldn't be the first time humans had named something "*insert name here*-type" if it had similar characteristics to the orginal thing. I mean the name "PC" comes from the fact that orginally PCs were similar to an IBM computer model called a "Personal Computer" or "PC" for short. Name name for that style of computers orginally being a PC-clone with the "-clone" part dropped later.
