Memory Leak

I just had to force exit my game via Task manager. Before I did I noticed that it was using 2gb of memory when the game normally uses like 500 to 700mb. If this is in the wrong forum. I apologize.
My basic specs are:
Intel HD 520 Graphics (up to 4160mb dynamic video memory)
i3 6006U dual core at 2ghz even (3mb L3 Cache)
8gb of DDR4 Memory
1TB Hard Drive
Windows 10 Home 64 bit. Post April 2018 Update
Acer Aspire E15 E5-575T-367B (it is more a work laptop but can run the game)
These issues have been going on for at least a couple weeks. It seems to happen when there is A LOT of stuff happening on the screen at once like enemy spam in the Battle of Procyon V Advanced. Occasionally in CCA. Please look into this as soon as you can and if anyone else is having an issue similar to this please chime in as well and leave your system specs so you can help the developer team figure out what may be causing this and who this is affecting.

The game regularly jumps into the 1.2-2 gb range for me, usually doesn't do anything except cause an occasional bit of lag though and normally drops back down after a short period.
    LTS and loving it.

    1-2GB is normal though.

I rarely ever see it make the jump that high though. It usually always stick around 700mb. It only ever goes that high if there is a lot of stuff happening on screen at once and due to my CPU not exactly being the best. It completely freezes the game up and I can't do anything except force exit and restart. I shouldn't have to do that.

Have a look at background tasks and clear it up..But STO does use between 1-2 GB of RAM..Try the 64bit client as it will allow using above the 3GB block put on memory..BTW what OS version 32 or 64?

I'm running directly through Steam. And it is Windows 10 Home 64 bit and I am using a 64 bit client

Use the game directly and I would suggest using the 64-bit client as they have resolved some, but not all of the issues that were plaguing it..

It's important to make a distinction between memory leak and a large memory footprint. A memory leak is an unintended and continuous increase in allocation of memory usually caused by the developer not freeing unused memory correctly. This normally leads to your OS killing the application when it can no longer satisfy the needs of the same. I see no indications of this in Star Trek Online. The game does however allocate large amounts of memory. With the 64-bit client I consistently see virtual allocations of 3.9-4.9 GiB and physical allocations of 2.2-3.0 GiB. This has been consistent as long as the 64-bit client has been available.
