Actually, to be completely honest, I picked up the gag after being told multiple times I'm "Not a real fan" of the franchise because I was noticing things that didn't work. It started occurring to me that maybe what those people were saying had some validity, so I started examining the "Fan" community as a whole, the number of times people trot out dropped or throwaway lines to justify something, etc. etc.
It occurred to me that "Huh, maybe I'm NOT a real fan."
Well, it occurs to me that your "tactic/gag" is just a special variant of the defining feature of a True Star Trek Fan, according to my theory: Only a true Star Trek fan would deny someone's Star Trek fandom. You're just doing it for your own
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I actually realized that within the 'fandom' community, I don't really qualify as a FAN. I'm not a fanatic,
I would challenge that claim, based on the observations from your forums.
You obsessively (and fanatically) repeat the same claims about Discovery Klingons, about the Mary Sue status of certain Discovery characters, about (assumed) opinions and feelings of Cryptic employees about the Klingon faction. You do this over and over again, whenever a thread even remotely touches one of the things you're fanatic about. Your behavior certainly seems quite fanatic - do you not realize it yourself?
Also, fans are well known to be strongly opposed to anything they don't like about whatever they are fan about. Be it a player of their favorite football team, be it the newest movie in their favorite franchises. It doesn't make you anything special and unusual and somehow removed from the "fandom". You could argue that you're not a fan of Star Trek if you saw the whole franchise as terrible and maybe said Babylon 5 was the only true sci-fi franchise worth watching. At best, you might be a sectarian, e.g. a particularly subsection of the fan community.
Star Trek fans are a complex bunch, they aren't all the same, but if you're there to discuss Star Trek from a position that there is good Star Trek and there is bad Star Trek (or "not true Star Trek"), you're already part of that fandom. You're really just haggling over the price.
That Discovery's getting compared to what amounts to a parody (The Orville) and it's actually coming up short on delivering good stories? That right there is an example of a ludicrous situation. Someone at CBS needs to be fired for that.
It is a sad day when the parody has more Star Trek in it than the actual Star Trek series.
If that day happens. As it hasn't and DSC is not only a far better story than The Orville, but it actually is Star Trek, it's immaterial really.
Considering some of us prefer Orville over Discovery, the 'official' labels won't mean a damn to some of us.
And? Official is a word like fact. It doesn't rely on your feelings on the issue to still be true. You can claim to like TO over DSC but you cannot assert it is more Trek than an acual Trek production just because you don't like the latter because the latter is by definition Trek.
Though considering you do seem to think facts are optional I suspect you'll argue against this as well.
Discovery spent too much time with the Klingon War to capture the essence of Star Trek which is "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before" and using aliens to create social commentary about our existence. The only instances of this is with the Tardigrade, Pahvo, and the Mirror Universe. The only Star Trek series that focused on a war as much as Discovery is DS9 with the Dominion War and it took a few seasons to get to that point. Maybe the second season will resolve this problem and focus more on exploration and social commentary.
Orville looked like what Gene Roddenberry could create if he had today's technology and social problems. The Orville is definitely the spiritual successor of TOS even if it doesn't have Star Trek in its name.
DSC cannot be compared to any of the other shows for the simple reason it's not all aired yet. Whether a show had the right feel for you cannot be judged until you can watch the show. As we've only seen one series out of a confirmed two that's not even a seventh (due to shorter series length) of DS9 or TNG.
That's also leaving aside the fact that there is no consistent feel for the franchise. Series 3 of ENT, it's all about killing Xindi, not much new life and new civilisations. Most of VGR is spent legging it back home not exploring self and meaning. TAS is Roddenberry given a animation budget to go play with his colouring book where pretty much nothing happens. Most of the latter half of DS9 is spent sitting still to stop a rampaging army of killer clones from trying to make Wolf 359 look like a little scuffle. Lots of exploration of self and Humanity, not much in the way of seeking out anything other than an end to a war.
But so far it's done an exploration of exactly what happens when you stick Humans in an interstellar war when they haven't been sat on their arses for the last century. It even tracked it's characters evolving and developing views on how to deal with that war. It's given us a better look at the self vs. mirror self than DS9 ever did. And it's also done what DS9 never did, it's shown you can move on from an interstellar war. And it's even given us a roster of characters where we don't hate all of them and some of them even have developed personalities and backstories and have changed in measurable ways over the series. Kirk didn't change until TMP. Picard until TNGS3, Janeway every episode and several times in some episodes alone (okay, scratch that last one).
TNG Series 1 and 2 and TMP were the spiritual successors of TOS and showed what Roddenberry would have done with a larger budget. Namly, go both insane and bland at the same time. TO is nothing more than a parody of TOS and TNG. Other than including oh so cutting edge references that will date it as badly as TOS is dated now, it adds nothing new to the mix in any way that would make it successor.

Any form of hatred is fanatical. It doesn't matter if it is towards a TV series, politics, religion, or a person. Love and Hatred cause an emotional response and shows that they care about it. After all, if someone didn't care for something, then they would be apathetic towards it instead of hate it.

I admit I enjoy seeing Baddmoon's mod pics, but this particular debate is getting a bit out of hand.

It's probably more of a symptom of a topic that can't advance due to having been examined thoroughly, lines drawn, etc.
I mean, how many ways can someone say they like/dislike a five second screenshot? The Enterprise redecoration looks good, but then, I've got no issues with the exteriors of the Federation's ships in Disco because so far, they have all looked good.
One of the few things that Discovery did right. Update the look of the ship for the 21st Century, but it still looks like TOS Enterprise. Seeing what the Enterprise's interior looks like might actually resolve the issue with Discovery's technology. Discovery had the Spore Drive and its other futuristic technology might be due to it being a testbed ship that contains technology that the rest of Starfleet won't have for 20 years.

Well... I can see the same TOS layout but with Discovery style displays. Kinda like a hybrid between TOS and Discovery. I mean we saw touchscreens on the Shenzhou, and she was an older ship.

We might see an updated version of the Cage uniforms that doesn't look so much like a 1960s sweater. Not only that, we know from TNG and DS9 that Starfleet has had two uniforms in service at a time before, generally a transistion from one style to another seems to take a while, so they allow both versions to be in service until the transition is completed.
This. As unpopular as this opinion may be, I really don't want to see those uniforms.
I'm sorry - I know some don't like the Discovery uniforms (or anything about Discovery for that matter) but the uniforms from 'The Cage' looked pretty terrible; cheap 1960's sweaters with a tiny, fabric, Starfleet Delta sewn onto them and rank insignia that didn't really make any sense. I don't care about the canon status of those 'uniforms' - we're better off without them in my opinion.
I wasn't even crazy about the normal TOS uniform tbh, the silky version from '09 is much better imo. I personally hope we get something halfway between Discovery and TOS, maybe single color (ie no metallic deltas) Discovery tops in gold, red, and blue, with black Discovery pants?

I do not know were people are getting the "Visual Reboot" idea from when Discovery "SET 10 YEARS BEFORE KIRK" REMEMBER THAT!!! So The Enterprise Her Self would have Gone into a Refit after Pikes Second 5 Year Mission I cannot Say that enough Really and the Window View Screen Yeah its annoying but I think what they are going for here is that there Sensors may not be Strong enough for kind of View Screen we have in the TOS, and we have to Kept in mind Enterprise we See here is only a Reboot of the Cage Enterprise not of the TOS one they Even said that in an interview SO PLEASE Stop bitching about that they are fing with the Cannon when they are taking Great lengths on preserving it visuals and all hell even the Klingons they said there many different once the Discovery TNG and TOS witch they said we will see in Season 2 sometime

I think its the fact it just looks more advanced than TOS in general. In a way the tech lines up more with around ST5 and 6 with the touchscreens. Also the uniforms. As for the viewscreen... Enterprise showed the NX-01 with a standard viewscreen like we saw everywhere else so...

Honestly its just nitpicking IMO.
Yes but Beyond showed the Franklin with a window and 09 did the same with the Kelvin. The former predates the NX and the latter predates the Conni.
Also, as Ent and the Kelvin both look more advanced than TOS anyway TOS is still the odd one out. ENT-Kel-DSC-TWoK-TUC-TNG is not a huge difference in appearance of ships or bridges or other tech. TOS never fit in with TWoK aesthetically i wouldn't expect it to fit in with DSC.
Though I want it untouched just because I found DS9s Tribbles and ENTs Mirror cardboard Connis next to ENT and DS9s glorious CGI models hilarious.

Yes, you keep saying. It still doesn't.
Silver computers will always look more advanced than red cardboard ones with jelly bean buttons. Holograms will always look more advanced than solid cassettes inserted into black plastic slots that produce only audio. The ability to fire multiple weapons from every conceivable spot is objectively better and more advanced than the single forward facing emitter of the Conni.
There's more to the Conni than just the exterior shell.

TOS connie looks more advanced than the NX, to me.
How did you reach that conclusion?
How does this:
look more advanced than this:
Simple. The NX is all gnarly, covered in greebles and kibble...we even saw a few times crew having to go outside the ship to fix things. Everyone on the connie is inside. Also, the Connie is smooth, sleek, simple. Heck, even Drexler himself stated something similar. And as Starfleet's NX was mainly a human made only ship....the connie, made a century later, is the mix of various races' technology...and materials and techniques will be able to make a ship with the connie's slender features, and yet be mega strong. Connie scragged the NX, and several others in a Mirror Darkly......and the Connie even withstood a point blank nuclear explosion, with minimum damage.
Even take a 1957 corvette, compared to say...a 97 model, and the later is smooth, nearly featureless, the former is a bit on the gnarly side.
Just like with Star Wars...the most advanced looking ships I seen where the Naboo ones, those were awesome.....the rest just looked like prehistoric junk.
So, to me, the Connie looks far more advanced. ~curtsy~

None of the bolded makes a difference to how a ship looks, as that is the discussion.
Needless to say, maybe (during the TOS run) they simply didn't have the budget to show people working on the outside of the ship?

The Constitution (USS Defiant) in the Mirror Universe was a good few years more advanced than the Terran ships of the time, so it's hardly a surprise that she bested them!

The one thing the NX seems to have over the Connie is known Escape Pods.
The closest we see of Escape Pods for the Constitution Class is actually two different variants in the Kelvin Timeline. Both of which seem to be one man pods. First was in '09 when Kirk was marooned on Delta Vega. The second was in Beyond after a refit to have more escape pods, especially around the Bridge. At the moment I know of no Prime Timeline Connie Escape Pods at all. I DO know that the Connie apparently has some form of Saucer Seperation via explosive bolts, but that's about it.

~curtsy~
Needless to say, maybe (during the TOS run) they simply didn't have the budget to show people working on the outside of the ship?
The Constitution (USS Defiant) in the Mirror Universe was a good few years more advanced than the Terran ships of the time, so it's hardly a surprise that she bested them!
Fair enough!
To me, it's a thing of beauty and simplicity, which helps make it look advanced.
