It's a shame that relations between PvE and PvP is as it is. In all the years I've been playing this game the most immersive and memorable moments have been found in either a) higher end PvE with friends when things aren't going as planned and the game plan changes from win to try and survive or b) PvP versus friends, via an endeavor, or random challenge versus a comparable player or group of players. Item b) occurred again not to long ago. Couldn't tell you how long the full set of rounds lasted, guess I lost myself in the game.
200k hits and a moderately de-buffed opponent reminds me of the days of entropic, 70-80 base per charge.(xx) deals 152917 (274185) Kinetic Damage(Critical) to you with Warhead Module - Quantum (6 charges).
Nothing should be able to defeat an opponent in one shot, so far cryptic done good to eliminate these issues.
Conditions for that to happen:
1. Drop opponents shields and/or gain 100% shield bypass (critical)
2. Debuff the target
3. Buff Quantums/torps
4. Generic buffs
5. time your abilities
If you're crying about that module actually killing someone in STO PvP, there's a wall over there with a list of things you should cry about first ===>
Until then, perhaps we need one general thread on "PVP - I was killed by X so it must be nerfed!" and one on "PVP - I can no longer insta-kill someone using Y so it must be nerfed!"
There is no way a clicky console should be able to consistently deliver 3-6 200K critical hits in the span of 3-4 seconds, anyone who says otherwise is high as a TRIBBLE kite.

3-6 200k hits in 4 seconds is hardly high. My torpedo are doing that constantly. Why shouldn't a torpedo console put out the same damage as torpedoes? If you nerf the console any lower it will be pointless to use, if anything it needs a buff. The console is no different from being hit by a high yield torpedo volley and we can do those every 2 seconds.
Until then, perhaps we need one general thread on "PVP - I was killed by X so it must be nerfed!" and one on "PVP - I can no longer insta-kill someone using Y so it must be nerfed!"
Or we can remove the haters from the game, if you don't pvp please, this thread isn't for you
The problem is that when PVPers demand nerfs for everything that kills them or they can't kill, those nerfs are applied to PVE too.
99% of players lose fun toys because the 1% doesn't want to deal with them in PVP. Getting rid of that 1% is most definitely a fix that would let the rest of us keep our fun.
QUOTED FOR TRUTH!!
This happens so often it's sick. The PVE game gets hosed because of some change that just had to be made in PVP, because so many PVP-ers whined up a storm about it.
PVP in this game is irretrievably broken, and the changes that broke it came about exactly for this reason -"PVP - I was killed by X so it must be nerfed!" and one on "PVP - I can no longer insta-kill someone using Y so it must be nerfed!"

I've always wondered why they don't just make NPCs and players function similarly stat-wise. Instead of being just a HP bag that does almost nothing, Cryptic could reduce NPC HP but make them use simple abilities and have damage resistance. Then new abilities could be scaled to where they wouldn't over-perform in PvP but under-perform in PvE.
Right now this console that people are talking about is vastly overpowered in PvP, but I can see how it wouldn't be in PvE. A 300k hit in PvP is game-breaking but in PvE, that wouldn't kill an elite enemy because they have so much HP.
It just seems like there are a number of ideas out there for making PvP and PvE better and preventing the constant battling between PvPers and PvEers. I for one prefer PvP and have been a loyal supporter of the game since Jan. 2012. I'd rather not see people's idea of "GET RID OF PVPERS" go through.

I don't want to risk my entire post being eaten, so I'm just going to quote myself.
I actually hate how things get nerfed because of PvP. FBP is now useless so escorts and vapers run rampant in PvP (FBP doesn't even work really well in PvE), so are the non-healing embassy consoles, so are many if not most specialization boff powers. I'm sure there are more things I am forgetting. There just needs to be a consistent way of scaling powers, rather than having to worry about lower hull players vs hp bag NPCs.

The crit is not just the Quantum Warhead Module....it is that Induction coil console set power thing, right? That takes up 2 consoles on a BoP...which is, like, already lacking a console slot. You have to pay up and get rid of something else to get this, as usual for a BoP.
I would suggest taking a looksie at what they have to give up or have to add to their build....to allow them to do this to you. I would look closely at all the new traits and consoles and stuff that came in with Discovery Lockbox and the new Bajoran Anniversary ship, too.
Hmmm...and I remember a friend of mine telling me they have weapons in the Discovery lockbox that adds to his hull? Weapons that heal....that could be it, too. Do those come in Disruptor cannons? I shall have to go check out the Exchange when I need a break from Omega Farming.
2 Set powers on the Quantum Warhead Module looks like this:
Overcloaked
Reduces the recharge time on Cloak
Critical Ambush
Grants a bonus to Critical Hit Chance and Critical Severity for a short time after exiting cloak

To be fair PvP used to be about timing and skill. There are many consoles and abilities that facilitate a “1-shot” kill in PvP through shields. The warhead console is not one of them.

The Discovery box comes with 3 flavors of phaser and disruptor.
Emitter Linked adds to shields
Integrity Linked adds to hull
Sensor Linked adds to attack and defense (can't remember the exact details off the top of my head.)
Both kinds come in both beam and cannon variants. Sensor Linked seems to be the more desirable because of its passives, and thus more expensive on the Exchange.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

I do believe that pvp in STO should go the way of the exploration clusters.
Personally I would rather lose the PvP and get the exploration clusters back.
Some of us actually had fun exploring the rich history of the 3rd Borg Dynasty. Nothing wrong with that.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
Guy's please keep this thread on point. Debate is fine as long as it's kept civil but flame/troll posts are not.

More defense without losing console space or skill points can only help my BoP.
I wonder if Cryptic forgot about these Quantum Warhead Modules. Of course, any misstep by the Devs and you can bet someone is going to find it. LOL!
+++++++++++++++
Those Quantum Warhead Modules can only be used on BoPs and was released on the Kor about 2.5 years ago.
So, it is now being effected by all the new stuff coming out of the latest and greatest lock box and ships. So, yeah, we know which is going to be on the losing side of this argument. Cryptic is still trying to sell keys for that Discovery Lockbox.
If you have that console.....play with it, now, I'd say.

I don't get the point.
PvP is completely optional anyway.
Nerfs on a PVP server would not carry over to PVE. Both sides happy

I too agree..I never used to PVP because I was always one shot killed and was screwed in less than 20 seconds..But atleast now I can hold my ground as an eng captain, when one of my fleet mates threw 6 shuttles, 3 holo dedereux warbirds, a damn projector and a bunch of other things of a sci based captian for 5 minutes..In a test run..
So basically its good the one shot attitude got a one shot nerf..It kinda levels the playing field..

Actually, it's usually called 'instagib.'
The warhead console is not one of them.
