A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"

A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.

The Force is united within me.
Regardless of whether or not it actually is possible (Which, might I say, has been stated several times that it either isn't, or isn't possible WITHIN REASON), piloting your ship from the bridge isn't going go be a thing, simply because of the sheer amount of resistance we've been given whenever it comes to the subject.

Geko (or whoever) teases it in a tweet, the next week, here appears the bar. Given the emphasis they give on the dropdowns, it falls in line better than any of the other speculations, and it has the benefit of timing.
It doesn't fit. Gecko repeatedly said in replies on twitter that a revamped DS9 would not be considered a "feature." Considering that nobody has actually asked for a bar on the colony, and the fact that a cosmetic map revamp (which is very similar to an addition that is also purely cosmetic) isn't considered a feature, the new addition is blatantly not going to be the bar.
They DID ask for the bar on the Colony... INDIRECTLY, that is. Everyone is always clamoring for a Dilitium sink, well here it is. 200k Dilitium for the serving bar. Then you have to add stools at 100k Dilitium each, and only 50k Dilitium for each bottle of flickering booze you add to the shelf behind the bar. Tables to sit at around the bar, just a paltry 125k Dilitium each.
Now the sink has a sink. Wishes to this crowd is like asking one from an evil Djinn.

They want cheaper exchange rates of Dilitium to Zen, because many get their Zen that way.

The problem with the above is what happens when you leave your bridge part way through the count down. If you leave at the start, you go back to where ever you left to get to your bridge. If you leave at the end, you go to your destination. If you leave in the middle, where do you go? [...]
Uh, you do the same vector computation that you do when actually moving through space, you just don't graphically represent it on any map. That's trivial, really.
Spoken like someone who's never had to code a complex system with visual realtime representations. Everything seems easy to the person who doesn't have to do it.
We've also had the real-world discussion of Cryptic coding, Soph. Do I need to remind you again of how the addition of vehicles to a completely different game crashed the chat server for two weeks, even though that system shouldn't even be connected to anything that has to do with graphics? Or when the Wild Hunt event was introduced in CO, which crashed the entire Desert zone, and how that was somehow solved by deleting all the coyotes near Greenskin Base, even though they didn't interact with anything?
And you think changing anything in this code is "simple"...
(For that matter, do I have to break out my anecdotes from coding at HQ SAC back in the '80s again? I mean, I'm pretty sure everybody here is getting sick of Grandpa talking about the Bad Old Days, but if you insist...)
Consider for a moment that said "feature" is to roll out with the next expansion...

"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

As has been pointed out several times: a cosmetic, pointless addition is not a feature. It's cosmetic. A DS9 revamp, as specifically mentioned by Al, is not a feature. If a revamp of the entirety of the setting for one of the shows for 7 seasons straight isn't a feature, you can be absolutely certain that a bar that holds literally no functional purpose besides looking cool and roleplaying will not, and will never be, considered a feature.
Also, here's a good question for you. Why would he randomly decide to tease the bar of all things, as opposed to any/all of the other cosmetic additions to the colony? Are you saying that glass floors and foliage aren't features? I have never seen anyone ever asking for any of these to be added to the colony, so why would a functionless bar of all things apparently be a popular feature?
And also, Kael said he had taken some screenshots of a new, highly requested feature to be revealed at a later date, and that happened AFTER the bar was announced. Using our mystical powers of common sense, we can reasonably deduce that Kael and Geko were talking about the same thing, and that it is in fact not the bar that you seem unreasonably hyped for.

Geko wouldn't tease a new feature and say its gonna be big, only for it to be another cosmetic for a holding. We get those every once in a while. That is not a "New" feature. Its just coincidental timing.
