Yeah, epic pass. I like my starships sleek. These are bloated monstrosities.
They can't keep using the same design aesthetic on every single ship in existence, it would just get boring eventually.

Three thoughts after reading the responses:

    1) A lot of disgruntlement about the underside of the Fed ship. Not saying anyone's wrong but how are you guys flying your ships? Cuz I feel like the underside of the front is not visible when I'm flying my ship. Or is just knowing that your ship has a double chinned gizzard the hang up?

    2) Yes these ships are more or less T6.5 but I'm ok with that because people wouldn't want to get ships that are worse than what's already out there. I like the betterments. Especially that extra console slot. I have too many consoles that I want to slot as it is.

    3) These ships will be good for the game. Unlike Admiral Valdor*, I believe businesses die out if they don't follow the unlimited expansion precept. Growth is good.

*Although I guess he didn't say the unlimited expansion precept was bad. He just questioned it.

Guess I am the only one who likes the Fed ship? o.o

I sometimes like the weird/fugly ships, and the more I look at them the more I like them.
But at first glance 'it was WTF were they thinking?!' :D

After watching the ZEF Films Spacedock short, I'm liking the Federation ships more.

The necks are not as thick as I thought they would have been given the pictures in the Miracle Ship Bundle announcement.

Reminds me of the Chimera/Manticore and the Dakota Heavy Cruiser.

How about all ships get it?

Cruisers are the only type that dont get an extra equipment slot as opposed to the escorts heavy weapons and the science ships secondary deflectors.

To be fair, those offset the fact Cruisers get their Comm Array abilities, though again to be fair those are more of a team buff than a single ship buff like the other two.

Well, i think the Sensor Scan ability of Sci ships is a type of Team Buff, but you are right about Tac ships...
    ...
Still, the people were asking for something speciall for Cruisers on forums - though normally they were thinking of making Comm Array a type of equipable gear...

Lets really hope this is NOT prelude to T7 ships...

What about all Science ships have 4 TACTICAL abilities built in.

Some say the Beam Target abilities are meh, but in that case I'll take Science Team and Polarize Hull on my Cruisers as built in abilities.

I also like these ships and look forward to flying them.

Escorts also get a Base 10% defense buff( while I would be all for escorts turning this into special evasive maneuvers, one being the 10% defense buff) , science ships get target subsystems I + sensor Analysis.

I really do think cruisers need a slot for something even if it is merely a specialized armor slot. Though I would be ecstatic for some sort of command array mod slot in the vain of secondary deflectors.

Warbird cruisers and battle cruisers need at least one command array power :/. They get left out but tactical ships and science ships still get their stuff...

They look good and they are practically t6.5.
But the practice with Cryptic is to release OP content then nerf it, so one can NEVER be sure about his investment. We all know this by now and many left the game after getting burned several times. So for the sake of this game please make sure whatever you release here will not nerfed later.

Otherwise good job with the looks!

Particularly with regard to the Fed ships, it almost feels like Cryptic go looking for the most unflattering possible angle they can find to show their hard work from - the ZEF Films video does a much better job at displaying them than Cryptic's own blog does.

        Very odd.

People are forgetting that cruisers already had their bonus slot; it's the science ships and escorts that lacked it. It's called having 8 real weapon slots. The 'heavy' is less powerful (you can't FAW it and it doesn't get your tac-console bonuses either). The secondary deflector and later the 'experimental weapon' slot were added because it's the non-cruisers that just weren't keeping up with the beam whales.

Cruisers have 8 weapons, the commands, highest hull, better shields than escorts and usually four device slots.
Science ships have 6 weapons, high shields, lowest hull, a secondary deflector, sensor analysis and sometimes can use beam targeting (unless they're a beam build with beam weapons and beam boff abilities, then those are just decorative cooldown icon)
Escorts have 7 weapons plus the heavy turret slot, lowest shields, and medium hull. They usually have two device slots.

Ok, so I decided to play the Klingon Mission "Second Star to the Right, Straight on 'til Morning" on the PS4, and I would swear, the Escort that you fight before you warp to Mars (have to take the bridge etc.) looked a lot like the Tactical Fed MW Cruiser.

Now it could have been the Presidio, but the mission called it an Escort.

Makes me wonder if the assets are already in the game for the PS4 at least.

Still, back on the PC now, tempted to play the mission and see if she shows up.

I think the explanation is pretty simple. They want their ships to sell and players to return. Making them more powerful in every way will most likely accomplish that goal.
The players will not return for his ships, it is necessary to restore play pleasure and create real novelties.

Nerf the new Console slot? You mean like you can only put the Grappler Console in it? ;)

        Things I want in STO:

        1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
        2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
        3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
        4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
        5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
        6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
        7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
        8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

I like the federation ships too. They actually have a unique look and silhouette to them, unlike the klingon and romulan ones which just look like more of the same.

That said, the fact that you need a special ship to use specialist BOFFs is currently one of the most annoying aspects of this game, because it severely limits your ship selection. You should be able to retrofit existing ships for specialist roles by changing one of its boff slots to that specialization (All existing specialized boff slots would return to just their basic when doing this) Make a mission retrofit zen store item that can be sold on the exchange and cryptic will even make some good money on it.

You mean do with that Console what you can do with Tractor Beam-Repulsors with the Pull Doff. I love it when my ships equipped like that grab both Tholian Capital Ships in the Tholian Red Alert.

No, I mean literally grabbing the other ship and spinning it around like a demented Gravitron ride, causing the crew within to lose their lunch and get thrown against the bulkheads as the centrifugal force of the spin overwhelms the downward pull of the artificial gravity.

The universal console slot would be best utilised by being restricted to whatever console the ship came with. As the forum just came back online, if they do what they did with previous releases they'll announce the stats tomorrow and release the bundle after Thursday's maintenance.

You get a lot of that with, though not quite as 'whippey' with the TBR Pull, but that would be neat if you could get a Console to do that 'Firefly Manuever'. :)

If they upgraded the existing one to do that, the T1 NX would sell like hotcakes.

I can't say I'm a big fan of the visuals on the Klingon versions; I can't get my head around the "Kaiju" forward sections. If they were rotated 90' for a more traditional Klingon "hammerhead" look it would probably be fine.
