Not sure about the art of the new escorts, but the new Heavy weapon slot has potential.
Let's see how this plays out.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Because if there's one thing this game was lacking, it's a diverse selection of Tactical-focused starships able to deliver an ungodly amount of firepower. I'm so thankful in Cryptic's efforts to rebalance the game to make Eng/Sci more competitive against Tactical, that they're implementing a brand new Heavy Weapons gameplay mechanic for Raiders/Escorts/whatever else they feel like throwing a gimmick on.

Well, it's your fault in the end.

I have to say that those Cat-scorts look really nice. Or should I say Purrrty.
Can't say the same for the Romulan ship though. Most Rom ships are very nicely designed but this one, not so much, IMO. Now that I think about it, the Rom Bug-scorts were not on my favorites list either. I wonder if it's just an escort thing...
Anyway, I am also interested in the new Heavy Weapon mechanic. I'm not exactly happy that T5 ships won't be getting this upgrade, though. Ah well.
Also not exactly clear exactly what ships will be getting this upgrade. Oh sure it says "Tier 6 starships with a Tactical Commander seat, 7 weapons and 1 or fewer Hangar Bays will receive a Heavy Weapons Slot and access to a basic upgradeable Heavy Weapon."
So does that mean that ships have to meet all those requirements or should there be an "or" in there? Or should it read like this; Tier 6 starships with a Tactical Commander seat "OR" 7 weapons and 1 or fewer Hangar Bays will receive a Heavy Weapons Slot and access to a basic upgradeable Heavy Weapon.

Yeah, now that you mention it, it IS a bit baffling. They rebalance to help out Eng/Sci only to give Tac ships (and some Eng ships, or maybe all, difficult to say ATM) an extra weapon that does "heavy" damage, yet very few if any Sci ships will get this mechanic. Perhaps at the same time Sci ships will be getting some type of boost to offset this, but for right now it looks like the message is "don't play Sci ships".
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
The Fed and Kdf designs look quite nice. However with the Rebalancing work going on over on Tribble I hope you'll forgive me for keeping my wallet closed until those changes are finished and I see how the rebalance affects Holodeck before I commit to any new purchases.
Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.

I'm going to blame the Remans.... it says "allied" and the thing looks kinda Reman.
*Slow clap* Well done. Well done indeed. Good play. Had me totally fooled.
All that talk about balance and they hand escorts even more DPS. Meanwhile the larger and slower battlecruisers/cruisers can't equip it.
It reminds me of that request made years back about a 360 torpedo(yes, it's an old request), because a 90 degree torp doesn't work well with a broadsiding cruiser.
It seems pretty straightforward to me - all T6 Raiders (Kor, Baltim, Tadaari, Ouroboros, D4X) and all ships that meet all of these conditions:
Tactical Commander seat (Escorts, Destroyers, certain Dreadnoughts)
7 or fewer weapons (Escorts, certain Destroyers)
1 or fewer hangar bays (Escorts, Destroyers, certain Dreadnoughts)
On my end, that means upgrades are coming to the Valiant, Kor, Malem, Ouroboros (which I don't fly, but ok), Xyfius (also not using it), Nandi (also dormant), Hazari destroyer and Jem'Hadar strike ship.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

I have to say, super tickled to see more allied races added - including a Ferasan ship at long last(Will Hathos be added as a playable Romulan race - or atleast recruitable bridge officer?). Hope this means we'll be seeing a T6 Flight-deck cruiser bundle with Vulcan/Orion/Reman soon. Maybe something with Tellerite/Lethean/Yridian as well?

I'm pretty sure that the Hathos class ship is a Reman design.

Nandi's 4/4 weapons, though, so I think that it wouldn't count.

And we get a 360 kinetic weapon... For escorts.
Now that you mention it, wouldn't heavy weapons make a lot more sense on big ships like dreadnoughts? Escorts are basically glorified fighters. Hm, food for thought.
What about Tier 5 lockbox or lobi tactical ships?
What about hybrid ships like the T5 Dysons that turn into tactical ships with 7 effective weapon slots?
What about tactical carriers like the Vonph or Narcine or JHDC?
As far as I remember, cruisers and battle cruisers were all given their respective command abilities except for warbird variants which for some reason were left out in order to keep up with other ship classes.
Then, secondary deflectors became standard on all science vessels.
Now, tactical captains (who do best conventional weapon damage) are given a T6 escort exclusive treatment with a brand new mechanic that's upgradable, while singularity abilities, cruiser commands, and a big part of having a cruiser with the most weapons is also given away to promo ships that are now dreadnought carriers.
All this during an ongoing major balance change, not all that long after a major skill revamp.

Something that fires in all directions would be very cool on the Vonph, since she turns slowly, anything that fires in all directions is a big plus.

I thought thats what the carrier pets for? Coveringing the slow turning ship
I am eagerly looking forward to these heavy weapons, but I do agree. This is an odd time to be add them and 360 Degree + Heavy Railgun don't quite line up in my mind.
The Hit and Run Starship Trait looks like it is labeled backwards, it appears to be more of a Run and Hit trait, with the Evasive Maneuvers happening before the damage bonus. Thinking further, I do kinda think a trait that reduced Evasive Maneuvers cooldowns when you crit would be fun.
It's on the ship type versus the captain so withholding judgement with tac changes on captains (especially with DO still undergoing testing) - going to be interesting to see what abilities are in, etc. Ships look good, but with a, say, Acamarian or Suliban ship had been used for Republic.

Cryptic you've finally found a way to show that starfleet is really full of themselves, by making the ship look like the starfleet logo.
Well done my friends well done.
What about hybrid ships like the T5 Dysons that turn into tactical ships with 7 effective weapon slots?
Well, Dysons are T5 so they're not in the initial list. But it's interesting to note that they *do* meet all of the other criteria - Cdr tac, 7 weapons, no hangar. Including a heavy weapon (to balance the sci-mode secondary deflector) could be neat if they ever do a T6 Dyson.
Anyway, nice to see some more diversity - though it's a little surprising to see Caitians getting T6 ahead of Andorians and Vulcans. I just hope the Ferasan ship comes in pink.

Also looking forward to the roll out of a heavy Weapon mechanic, a 360 Torpedo Launcher would get me buying the Alita to asap.
Ferasan ship, Ferasan Ship, for the love of Q finally a Ferasan Ship.
13 characters, with 3 Ferasans, 2 Reman, and a Gorn. My Allied Races are very very happy now.
Let's see how this plays out.

Heavy weapon slots sound interesting, although I'm probably not flying many ships that qualify....

Caitian Shikaris looks like a Starfleet Combadge. Hoping these will be used as a Starfleet frigate class pet for a T6 Caitian carrier.

I like how you think(That Proton Cannon needs a replacement)...I wish the Mobius was included with a heavy weapons slot..

But that Reman ship - ugh. Looks more like a Klingon ship - and an ugly one at that.
