I have never left the core room after it was destroyed and just sit there until the rewards come, and it has ALWAYS counted all five ships or however many players there are as successfully evacuating. So you dont really need to leave after.

It seems to have change since last year.

First day I didn't leave in time. I didn't get destroyed.

Maybe parking instead of fleeing works fine?

On some of my ships, I start to head toward the door at about 10%, because once that extra burst of speed kicks in, I often get hung up on a protrusion in that room, because the ship moves faster than it steers. Not a problem on raiders or the like, but on some cruisers it is.
You are aware there's a throttle control, right? You don't have to fly max speed all the time if it's too fast to turn.

Yes, that's how I unstick my ship from the wall after I slam into it. But most the ships that are hard to steer are also beam ships and thus have to circle around the core at full speed so I don't shoot the shield. So if I am going to stop shooting core by slowing down, I might just as well start moving towards the door

When the life of the Core gets into the 20s I usually position myself pointing at the door, because when the Core blows, you get flung forward. I'd rather it be to the door rather than somewhere else. Unless I get thrown somewhere I don't want, I can be the first through the door but often one of the last out. I began wondering whether there was some Accolade for being the first out.

Now, what may be an exploit was something I saw happen last night in one of my runs. The opening waste of time timer expired and we started moving toward the Trench. Suddenly we get the pop up to rendezvous at the Breech point. We hadn't even made it to the Trench when we were ready to rendezvous. Could not figure that one out.

I got that too. I think someone who had previously lost connection spawned in my game at the door and tripped the popup because when we got there there was a 6th player not on my team warping out.

    That would explain it.

Position yourself above or below the core shields and they can't block your shots.

    That's what I do.

I go high, fire on the core and as the core gets close to death I turn my ship so that I'm facing the exit door. Once it goes boom, I go to full impulse, hit the door and pop any speed boosts I have (even though that's completely unnecessary.)

You can very easily take part in the full end fight and still make it outside with a good 30 seconds on the clock.
    Insert witty signature line here.

I'm pretty sure it happens due to a 6th player joining the queue at the rendezvous point. When people complete their Breach run and log out without leaving the map first they will spawn at that point when they log in again. And it happens to be the trigger area for the message. I've noticed several times a player joining the queue even though the group was already consisting of 5 players.

And I've gotten myself stuck in a wall or one of those damn pistons multiple times, and never made it to the core room, very frustrating.

I was wondering what people are doing to escape the final room so quickly in the event. I have been paying close attention since trying to figure out how most people are always waiting outside when I come out. I have entered the first gate as soon as the boss is destroyed, ahead of everyone, nobody passes me, yet when I exit, they are usually already there.

Not that it's a competition, but I was just wondering what exploit they are using.

There are 2 exits, one high, one low.

Just because you don't see anyone pass you doesn't mean they're not ahead of you. Pilot Maneuvers and Evasive Maneuvers can vault you ahead of the pack. They're probably just doing a different path slightly faster then you.

I usually take the upper one, which is the way you enter the room from the Core room. I'm usually the first one out, but have been beaten a couple times, usually by Pilot ships.

Evasive Maneuvers doesn't seem to boost my speed at all in that event.

It does for me, out the upper level and most of the time Im first.
    Positive thoughts.

Could be someone who was impatient when cycling alts. You can change characters after getting the rewards, but before leaving. If you do, then you get dumped into the event like that, and might trigger the phase change if you're close enough to the lock.

Then why are some people not getting out?

When something is not intended to be done in a game and it is, it is called an exploit.

Besides, this has already been answered. There is more than one path out. It's just since nobody would say that during a run, it appeared to be something fishy.

I have made it out the bulk of the time, there is plenty of time to do so, unless you fly into a corner and can't back out. Generally, if you make it out of the Core Room, you are OK. Best past the double doors.

And then twiddle your thumbs for 30 seconds waiting for your reward. o:)

Why bother? I do the standard fly-around-the-core not caring what direction my ship is pointed at the end. I've never had less than 15 seconds to spare getting out, even when I do it in a klingon cruiser that turns like a beached whale.

Although the top approach could be slightly less hassle for the shooting at it part (if it doesn't teleport me)...I still have 1 run left on a toon or two, maybe I'll try it.

Yeah I've started parkign above it facing the door. That way I can grab loot then run for it easily.

Well I just tested it and unfortunately I do have to break your bubble. The core is immune to damage from the direction of the shielded flanks even if you're technically shooting "over" the physical shield. In other words, parking above it is no better than parking beside it, you will only damage it 50% of the time either way.

I also see a lot of people attacking the cores in the pistons with the question mark. Aren't these best left alone? The first time I attacked one, I noticed a "NOOB" comment in team chat and wasn't sure if that was meant for me or not. It would be much more helpful if people explained things rather than lash out with insults, but I guess that's our gaming society today.

Fighters love attacking the decoy cores, even if you don't.
I never launch fighters during the Breach, just for that reason.

One odd thing I noticed tonight: When taking down the last core, I was right at the door to the main boss room, facing it, when the last core exploded and as it began to open, I noticed a player was already flying around the boss and attacking it. Is this room also open before the cores are destroyed?

Probably. I haven't tried it but I don't remember seeing any sort of lock.
