My primary interest in these changes is hoping that the 10-15k builds cease to exist.
I don't think it's fair for players to put out insane amounts of damage and then look down/belittle on those who didn't invest in that kind of build because they play for fun.
I am also hoping that these get a damage buff:
In my personal experience, they don't do much damage, which confuses me a lot.
Those specialist powers in the second image should do a lot of damage, especially since it requires that 2-3 console slots be dedicated to gaining these abilities.
Especially since canon states these are high damage abilities.
Now granted, I don't expect to see ship crews get taken out in one shot by Thalaron Pulse or entire planets explode, but at least a heavy damage hit should be expected from these powers.
A third concern is I hope casual gear layouts like what I use on my T6 Scimitar are not inhibited in some way:
I just use what I like, not what's deemed best.
For the fun factor.

yep, it is really unfortunate, that using the consoles that come with the ships are pretty much always a way to absolutely cripple your build performance wise. I mean cryptic has already shown some awareness of that problem since they started to add passive stats to those consoles.
I see the problem with the stacking of the same consoles for best performance. The spire tac consoles are the best example. Not only have they made all other tactical consoles irrelevant, they also fill up most of your console slots on any competitive build that relies on energy weapon dmg. If you really want to be competitive you stack your embassy plasma consoles too, so...in other words the ship with the most tac slots and sci slots is automatically among the best ships simply because it offers the most slots for stacking the best consoles.
Further it would be extremely nice to have, lets say 3 dedicated slots additionally for ship specific consoles.
I'd really like to use those console sets, but at the current meta it is really just a self-nerf thing to do so, and winding up with just 10k dps is really a burden on the group for most of the STF queues, even some of the normal ones.

at that point they may as well just start integrating the sets in the ships themselves. and stop wasting our time with this.
a better idea would be start setting caps on how many of any given non basic console can be on any given ship. not a nice measure but it would cut down on the level of slot this or your gimping yourself.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
I am 100% with people playing for fun and not making powerful builds but why are people asking for those with powerful builds to be nerfed? Most of the powerful builds play advanced and elite ques which call for more powerful ships anyway. I think the worst thing STO has done was to not have a gear check for advanced and elite. Most MMOS do this to keep under powered characters from leeching higher end content.
I get that people don't want to or don't have time to come up with and run powerful builds but don't punish those who do have the time and put forth the effort. The bar should not be lowered just because some people don't want to jump high.
Also I'm going to miss the small army of security officers I could call down. I don't no what the max you can have out at once was but I'm sure I've had more then a dozen out at one time. Was allot of fun to run around Defera with a ton of security officers in tow.

I'm one of those 'play for fun' people. I don't have the resources to spend on this game, so I use what I have. Parsing my DPS just out of curiosity and it's pathetic compared to those who are able to parse in the 100k and up figures.
That's something I likely won't attain, but my builds do the job and that makes me happy and I have fun.
I'm also on the 'wait and see' bench, which seems to be kind of empty
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

cause the "powerful" builds rip though 20 minute long content in less 30 secs. which shouldn't happen... ever. most "fun" builds if you use half a brain are good enough for pretty much anything.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
Well I don't particularly like other players telling me what is considered the fun way to play. Apparently, fun is performing poorly and those of us that try to get maximum performance out of our characters and builds are doing it wrong.
I don't tell anyone that they're 'doing it wrong' or 'doing poorly'. My opinion is that if I can survive what I'm doing then that is not doing poorly. Blowing up or dying multiple times means I'm doing poorly and need to figure out how to fix it so I don't do poorly anymore.

your fun is not wrong, how ever there is a time and place for it. when newbies and casuals start having problems playing because min maxer apparently can't control themselves in low level group content, than we have a problem.
now, if you can teach your fellows how to share the sandbox with the rest of the children we will not need much in the way a nerfing and could focus on buffs instead.

It's always interesting to see the gap of understanding some people have between what they heard versus what was actually said.

Maximum performance is still maximum performance if it's only six times the average and not FIFTY times.
Putting in the time and effort to understand builds and understand gameplay will always be rewarded. They just won't be rewarded to the ludicrous extent they are now.
And at the end of the day, the real point remains to have more choices and more strategies that fall within 10% of the max possible.
@vampeiyre this entire thread is basically people whining that they don't like the way player x plays the game and they want to change the meta to favour there own vision of the game or the way they want to play.

This doesnt make sense, you don't lose anything for blowing up.
To me, not blowing up makes the win far more satisfying....blowing up, top me, cheapens the win.

no, that's all that happened THIS patch, and all they've touched is ground - there's still space to go through, which will happen over the next several months leading up to the next season (or half-season, whichever comes first...i think the anniversary was the half-season though)

They need to hurry up with it. People won't invest in gear if they know a large nerf campaign is underway, since anything they buy might be turned into garbage.
I'll be fine either way, but for the workingman out there a purchase that is later nerfed could be devastating, and I worry for him.
Markets need stability, Cryptic ought to come out with it and say what is being nerfed so that the people can make informed decisions IMO.
Not to be too cynical but, this. I'm currently in the middle of getting gear/upgrading gear for my main's build, with an eye on what I should be grinding for my Temporal Agent. I'm putting all of that on hold until I know what's going to be useful and what's going to be useless. I don't want to innundate myself with gear that isn't going to help me anymore after the rebalance.

This is very true. For me, fun is being able to make it through content without blowing up. No matter how long the battle lasts before I 'win'.
For others, it's being able to one-shot any and everything.
Whatever your fun is, have fun doing it.
