Well, I think the issue was - she WASN'T working for Cryptic; she went over to PWE. That said...

Wow - promoted then (I assume) laid off. Yep, certainly makes me want to work for PWE...oh, wait...

Not that I would pretend to know Trendy's motivations, but I have the suspicion that she realized she wasn't making much of a difference as the CM of STO and thought having more power as Senior CM of PWE would allow her to make that difference she (correctly) thought the company needed.

Unfortunately, like so many others who are intuitive and proactive, she likely came to the realization that she didn't have any power when the management at PWE are going to do whatever the hell they want, and she was only there because she showed up on time and worked long hours. Her opinions were not needed or necessary for the continuing adventures of PWE and the search for more money, and she could have felt disenfranchised from a company she showed sincere loyalty to.

Again, this is all idle speculation but given the evidence of her hard work at PWE and desire to change things for the benefit of the customers, it's hard not to see this as anything else other than a purge at PWE to quell dissenting opinions the bean counters don't want to hear.

We aren't going to get a better CM than LaughingTrendy, period.

Ya know iconians PWE sounds like its ran by spaceballs always in search for more money and air lol

Oink me, the OP's stupid thread title suggested something much worse happened. Please don't do that.

That's bad news indeed. I hope she quickly finds a new employer, I think the STO forums would gladly write an open letter of recommendation for her.

I thought Trendy was in that rare circle of passionate CM's who made their companies look that much better. I'm disappointed to hear of these events.

In my time on the STO forums, we've been through... now 4 CMs.
    • Branflakes (Pretty cool guy from what I remember)
    • CaptainSmirk (Had his moments but wasn't as good.)
    • Trendy (BEST FRAKKIN' CM we've had, really engaged with the community)
    • Kael (current CM)

Trendy was awesome. We shall miss the Ban'leth and Leek of Doom...

If only she could stick around the forums for a little bit longer to ban people who use annoying symbols in their thread titles.

Hopefully she'll continue to play the game and interact on the forums and on Reddit in a non-official capacity now.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Like others have said, that rarity may have cost her the job. (The more uncertain part is whether she left or was fired.)

You know, that might not be a bad idea.

Shame. I took time off to play another game, just uploaded this into my new laptop, and find out my favorite CM is gone.
Branflakes was my favorite, until Trendy came along. I wish her the best in all her future endevors.

This is what happens if we're too nice and happy with our CM. :(

Quick, let's say mean things about ambassadorkael.

"ambassadorkael doesn't know the difference between a pre-ganglionic fibera and a post-ganglionic nerve."

Let's hope she finds a new, cool and well paid job soon.

Yeah, same here. I'm not fond of saying it, but that was pretty dumb. (The thread title) Don't do that. Never do that.

Umm... you know she was about the only person from PWE that even bothered to engage the players at all...which is crazy brave as you know since there are so many malcontents. I'm sad to see her go. I think she did a decent job interacting with the players. If she sees this I want to say sorry for causing the trouble that I did at certain times. I can be a passionate person...particularly when star trek is concerned. I wish her luck in the future.

This is unfortunate, Trendy seemed to actually care about feedback (good and bad). I hope she finds something else quickly.

Just goes to show, Don't! Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do *anything* that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I see what you did there, nice.

As I always said, executives and managers are bean counters who think they are intelligent and talented, when they are actually not, and won't listen to anyone with better ideas.

Going to be interesting who they gonna have replace her....probably some monkey with the IQ of a potted plant, someone they won't consider as a "trouble maker", I bet. :|

Pushing it slightly. While I definitely agree she did a much better job then any of the dev team at communicating with the community I still think there were several failures during her reign as community manager that could have been handled better. With that said I will miss her... no one else seems to interact with the community much so it is most definitely a loss.

More then likely as someone mentioned she will be replaced by a "Yes Man" , sounds to me trendy went up against corporate egos' and lost, she is a pretty, smart and talented lady no doubt wherever her travels lead she will find success.
