A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

I have read ALL of your posts. And I HEAR you. All I'm saying is that it is PAINFUL to invest in "chances". You give and give and give...but when you finally click on the "execute" button, nothing happens. THAT is what I do not like! I would rather there be a set price to upgrade the quality of an item...NOT pouring in hard-earned (time and REAL money earned) resources into a CHANCE to upgrade the quality! "Chance"= rip-off! I've said this many times and I stick by it!
Thing is, after a while you WILL max out the item you're upgrading. Never costs the same amount in total, but you will end up getting it there. And they DO give you a lot of chances to get free upgrade items, especially in events. Just look at the Pheonix Pack they just did as an example...
I think a good compromise would be to have a sliding chance table, the lower quality the item the better your chance to upgrade the quality and as you ascend in color that value diminishes. White to green might be nearly automatic, green to blue reliably solid, blue to purple somewhat more difficult, purple to teal significantly more difficult still, and teal to gold at least as difficult as now if not more so. That way the cost really evens out over the course of an item's upgrade path if you want to take it all the way to gold but if you're willing to settle for less it might not be so painful.
or just do what ESO does - have reagents you need to use to upgrade an item's quality, of which you need 10 of a specific one to upgrade from one rarity to another at a 100% chance, and each rarity level has its own specific upgrade reagent

ummm 5, at least from white to green.... dont have enough to go to blue yet but Im not even lv25 so...
passives from the specific crafting line alter the chance; i was referring to the chance each reagent gives without any, which is 10% per - for rare items, at least, since that's all i had to examine; it may vary at different quality ranks

think it does, or I have some passive affecting green, cause each gives me 20%

I've already given you the link that lists most of the other "Free" upgrade stuff.
