You have to wonder how many players want/wanted the T6 Connie simply for the sake of having it. I witnessed at least on conversation on local where a player was making a big fuss about wanting it, but later stated that it probably wouldn't be his mainstay ship and wouldn't replace his Yamato class.
I, for one, made almost no effort to obtain it; I know full well it would be wasted on me. I have my favotite ship and as good as the T6 Connie may be, I wouldn't put it to good use.
I'm a huge (and old) TOS fan - and the original TOS Starship Class/Constitution was the ONE ship I really wanted an endgme version of - and I had been very vocal about it; but resigned that:
- It would NEVER happen (IE that they'd make an endgame T6 TV series TOS version of the ship available EVER)
- If they did; it would be right before they planned to sunset STO.
So yeah I was utterly surprised ( and pleased) that they finally were introducing it (I luckily got one the first night they released for about 880 million EC - and I actually thought I might have paid high at the time as many were predicting you'd see them reliably at the EC cap of 750 million or less on the Exchange - but as we know now - that didn't occur. Yes, some DID put a few of them on the Exchange at the cap; but they went so fast that even if you were monitoring the Exchange for that - you still had to be lucky/quick.)
But somehow, a group of sellers now have it in mind that letting this ship go for less then 1.2 - 1.4 Billion EC (Well, EC and Keys); and I guess they're still finding takers or that price would be dropping.
Anyway, to my point: I picked up a T6 Connie for my AoY toon because it's the ship I always wanted in this game; and at least Cryptic have made it a very nice Endgame ship too. But now that I have it and a character for it - there probably isn't another Star Trek ship they could release that would pique my interest - nor get me back into the 'Keys for EC' market. I have my ship; and my AoY toon will soon be at the same level as my former main (who I put my T6 JJ-:Prise on when it looked like that might be the only endgame 'Connie' they released.) It's the one ship[ I'll always fly in this game no matter what - an any other ships I use on that character are just for the time it takes to unlock the various Ship Mastery Traits. The only two items permanently on that Character's ship slots are the T6 TOS Connie, and the Class-F TOS Shuttlecraft.
And I do have to say, they marketed things perfectly for them - bring out the JJ-Connie first in a Lockbox and even include a skin and Nacelle cap color scheme that can make it appear closer to a TOS TV series Connie; then after you've had all us TOS Connie fans feeding on that - bring out the real thing in a Promo Pack and Ka-Ching!
I really do dislike the whole 'Promo-Pack' paradigm because it does make the most iconic hero ship from the Trek franchise really stupid rare and hard to get - but it made them a LOT of RL cash. I mean, I bought the $200 Zen package; and yes, if you translate what I paid into RL cash, it cost me $140-$165 depending on when you do the conversion of all the game currencies and items involved - but that's just remaining ingame currency I can use to buy/advance my in game characters. But Cryptic/PWE got $200 RL cash out of me <--- And that's all the company accountants see or care about.

I have no idea what the value of the TOS Connie is and I don't really care since I am not really interest in acquiring that ship. I simply sell the Promo R&D packs on the Exchange so that others who really do want the ship can have a chance to win one. I sold my 1st Promo R&D pack last night for 23.5m EC which is not too shabby.
I am going to guess once the Promo R&D Packs that rewards the TOS Connie dries up, the asking price may increase. Though there is always the chance there could be people willing to sell it for a "reasonable price".
I have actually started to consider buying a Vengeance for my AoY captain.... though spending around 300m EC (unless the price went up during my short break from STO) for a character bound ship kinda puts me off.
I wonder if they'll release the Connie Promo together with Agents of Yesterday on the consoles. Maybe even together with the R&D System?
Though that might cause the Connie to be one of the most common promo ships on the console... A sudden need for R&D materials paired with the chance to get a Connie?
I wonder how many of our favorite market speculators in STO have made a console account just for the sake of experiencing a fresh market with new possibilities.

Well, they just announced the Kelvin Lock Box for the console so I would say that the TOS Connie / D7 / T'Liss Promo R&D Packs will eventually be offered.
However, that will have to wait until Cryptic implements the Doff and crafting systems first. There is no real point in sell R&D Packs if you cannot really use the crafting materials.
