Sadly all the game economists I've spoken to about the idea get really upset that there might be people participating in their economies who actually value the enjoyment of other players over profit.
Yea, I heard of those types, and had the misfortune of running into them as well. But, to them, and all greedy folks....be it gamers or bankers....this is all I can say to them.
not sure why ppl got nut ab the tos connie. It's look... un-futuristic. Perhaps it was for the 60s or 70s, but definitely not for the 90s and later. For me the real star trek techs began from the movies and next gen. The tos connie doesnt look like a ship from the 23rd century tech. Hell we r at the 21st, and the techs we have look way better. I guess whoever wants the tos connie r old folk lol.
Why is it that people complain about other players setting the prices for the ships or packs? It was a Cryptic decision to make them extremely rare in the r&D packs. Cryptic set the tone for this situation, not the players. I have not been in game for a week or more, I don't even know the price of the packs on the exchange.
I don't see where all the problems about this ship come from.
I bought mine for 925 million at the start because I knew it was a "limited-time promotion."
The sale went easily and I've been flying it since, where's the problem?
Is it just a spoiled milk effect from those that didn't buy it earlier and missed out?
I'm pretty sure this promo isn't coming back again so you better buy it while you can and at as low a price as you can and get it before they're all gone.

I think the OPPOSITE.
See, to me, smooth, sleek hulls are more advanced looking that stuff all gnarly, covered with greebles and kibble. And I feel the hulls would be woven, grown, printed or manifested. And, the slender bits shows to me, that they have VERY strong materials. The Klingon ships are the same.
The TOS Constitution took a nuclear blast, 100 meters from the epicenter. The TMP Constitution got mangled from torpedoes (which got NERFED big time since the Wrath of Khan) and phaser fire.
And not all of us TOS lovers are 'old folks' I'm only 37. And the T6 Constitution I got is my fav ship to fly.

If they are not selling, I see these ComicBook Guy wannabes trying to sell them for a BILLION and lockbox keys, and they keep spaming, and spamming, and spamming their items....so no one is buying. They're gonna have to lower their prices if they wanna sell the darn things.

Agreed.
To me the TOS ships look more futuristic at least externally. There's nothing there that marks them as anything less advanced than the plated steel look of the more modern designs. If anything the different appearance marks them as something very different.
And people should remember when they are bragging about these 'modern' designs that their general appearance is nearly 40 years old! (Star Trek TMP which set that look in stone for all that followed was in 1979).
There's the unpleasant whiff of control-freakery about it.
If you want to sell someone an item at a discount, just sell it at a discount. It's not really any of your business what the person does with it afterwards, is it?
The name comes from the most common non-MMO usage - selling/giving away young animals. And yes, there IS a perfectly normal desire to see that an item you're passing on is going to actually be used/loved by that person and not just resold. I have this conversation with artists all the time who do nice things for me on the cheap and are relieved when they feel certain I'm not just gonna scalp their work on ebay the day after the show.
The exchange is a very impersonal place, but it doesn't have to be. Many, MANY real-world transaction absolutely hinge on some input into what will be done with the item. Plus the TAGH system still allows a merchant to eliminate competing low-cost product by buying it up, he just has to use it himself or destroy it while selling the not bound versions they own.
Incidentally, I sold a TOS promo! pack last night for 22,850,000 - slightly undercutting the lowest price on offer at the time. Took a bout 40 minutes to sell and I know at least 5 cheaper ones were posted and bought out before mine moved.
That is blazingly fast. They're still doing very brisk trade.
Given a 1% grand prize rate, a T6 TOS should currently command prices in the vicinity of 2.28 Billion minus the value of 100 materials backs. I may get my 3 elachi ships for it yet.

I would love to see this in more MMOs including this one.
Off course you can do that now - blocking that behavior (or at least the direct profit motive for it) is ENTIRELY the point of the option. Though you will likely lose some profit in the process. 'Course there's a whole psychological meta-game that some people would be willing to pay slightly more for a TAGH item they intend to use specifically to indulge mutual benevolence. A crafty merchant will offer some of their product both ways, as, once it's sold, what do they care the other person won't be reselling it? If anything that's a plus for them.
Market traders sometimes fail to grasp how much other players resent economic PvP. Particularly in a game calling itself Star Trek. TAGH creates some interesting new dynamics and makes the field a little more challenging for players providing arbitrage services. You get to step around the little landmines left out by do-gooders .
It's a bizarre and novel idea, devaluing your own items so you can control what other people do with them after they've paid you, I will grant you that.
What's nice about it is it uses exiting systems - unlike the real world, you can make "no, you REALLY won't be reselling that" an absolute, and not just a verbal promise.

You can do that in the real world too by means of a contract. Enforcing it requires pockets, but not deep if it's small claims.
I've signed real life sales contract I before that had all sorts of TAGH requirements in it. If you think about, your EULA are actually a type of this as well.

Thankies. I do my art in a sort of anime style. Hope to try to make some anime trek at some point.
Don't like p.o.r.n.o. ish to me. ~shrugs~
Maybe you're supposed to dress them in nun's habits, then give them amorphous body types and grouchy schoolmarm expressions on their faces.

Right after you show me where I suggested it had been stated.
And my opinion is that comparing some G-rated pictures to graphic...adult imagery reeks of puritanical sanctimony.
Agreed. That entire mindset is bizarre to me.
