Sulu's TRIBBLE ?

Why should George Takei care about what gender Kelvin Universe Sulu likes. Kelvin Universe Sulu is not his character, it is John Cho's. We have Kelvin Universe Spock being a horndog and as far as I know, Star Trek 2009 and Into Darkness didn't happen during Pon Farr. Everyone is given a new life where they don't make the same decisions as their Prime Universe counterparts. Frankly, I am surprised that we have the same main characters since they are more likely to be doing something else or end up on a different ship based on different decisions.

That's actually a fairly common misconception, stemming from a confusion of imperatives. Pon farr doesn't designate the only time that a Vulcan can have sex, but rather the time during which a Vulcan, particularly one who has been mated, must have sex. There's nothing to indicate that they can't do it whenever they please; in fact, Sarek's successful marriages to two Human women would tend to argue the contrary.

Thank goodness They don't censor the word Bi...

I'd have to be a Two-Sexual person and that doesn't roll off the tongue so well.

Though, come to think of it..., it does describe me to a T.

Well it seems like Kelvin Universe Spock must have sex just like any regular human male. Prime Universe Spock is far more reserved when it comes to sex.

Really? How many times have we seen NuSpock having sex? Because I don't remember it at all.

In TOS, PrimeSpock hadn't had a relationship in some time - but in "This Side of Paradise", we met a girl who'd had a huge crush on him at one point, apparently during his Academy days, and he got to kiss her, which on the TV Kirk Scale of Physical Intimacy counts as sleeping with her at least three times (as we never saw Kirk get any more active than that either). And as I've mentioned before, while it was kind of subtext (although almost outright text in "Charlie X"), Nichelle Nichols did mention that she played against Nimoy as if Uhura and Spock had recently had an amiable breakup...

Takei's main reason for not being thrilled with the fact that Kelvin Sulu is TRIBBLE is because it goes against Roddenberry's vision for the character, but everything after (and including) DS9 went against Roddenberry's vision

Roddenberry would've hated The Maquis, for example
If Roddenberry saw Cal Hudson he'd be livid, so I don't think he would mind a TRIBBLE Sulu after that

There's a documentary about Roddenberry's vision by Shatner called Chaos on the Bridge that talks about it, its pretty interesting, I enjoyed it

Why's everyone getting their panties in such a twist? There's a minor background revelation about one character - it's not like suddenly this has become "Star Trek: Planet of the Oiled-Up Weightlifters" or something...

hardly a revelation if this is referring to what I think it is, as a star trek fan I have known about this stuff for some time and still think George played his role perfectly, I have also read his autobiography and seen many of his interviews and I think he is a really nice guy, I know he is as much a fan of star trek as anyone and has revised his role in sto fan flicks.

see Star Trek New Voyages World Enough and Time on youtube.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Yes, officer, Sulu is a string of asterisks.

Just replace the asterisks with g a y, no spaces.

I think they can do what they like in an alternate universe. Which is why it's set in an alternate universe, to give them wiggle room to maybe change characters a bit.
Now a LTS and loving it.

I just imagined Peter Dinklage as Captain on the new TV series, and I love the idea.

Where did this come from all of a sudden? Is this in the "KT Trek" or regular?

I understood the actor is TRIBBLE, but what is the correlation between them? How did thus come about?

I still don't see what the problem is, it certainly did not effect George Takei's ability to play his role in star trek and just because George is this way does not mean the character role he plays will also be, there have been many well known male actors who were also and many of them played strait roles, rock Hudson is a prime example of this.
I will also remind you that many strait actors have played non strait parts, Tom Hanks springs instantly to mind right now.
that just proves the strength of the actors ability to play their roles well whether they are strait or not is unimportant.
their orientation is totally unimportant to me, it is only their acting ability that counts.

of course in the days of ToS these things were not mentioned on screen but is this day and age it is far less important for most sensible people thank god.

This is what they did. So they can reboot Star Trek and have no issues of trying to keep it the same as the Prime Star Trek. This will allow all freedom to tell the story how they want it and desire. Which is basically what they are doing.

Honestly, while I know that the Prime Sulu was not "playing for the other team", the Kelvin Reality is different enough that the Sulu there could be. Especially if you look at the Mirror Sulu, he was damn near a rapipst, as well as a psychopath.

What the Main people who are producing the Movies Forget is many things about Star Trek Universe. They Ignore The Trek Universe They Ignore George Takei and They Ignore Gene Roddenberry. They say they know him when in fact They dont. The 1 part of Star Trek Universe that hasnt been destroyed and cannot be touch is WW3 or also know as the Eugenics wars. The Human Body was mapped out in such great detail they were able to create a Super humans or some say Super Soldiers. They were cured of all diseases, cancers, chemical Inbalances. Being G ay is basically A person with a chemical inbalance. Which was cured in they Star Trek universe.

You do know that 2 men cannot produce a child or 2 women. So either you are adopted which means your Biological dad is not TRIBBLE or if the person you call dad is your Bio dad than that means that you were test tube plant. Or that you dad is your Bio dad which would mean he believed in God in the beginning but fell out of faith with him and if that was the case I all ready feel sorry for him. and will prey for him to find the error of his ways

I don't completely understand it myself, but the facts are:

    1) my mother and father were married when I was conceived

    2) my mother knew my father's last relationship was with a man

    3) my father has always been an atheist

Trek has survived as much in spite of Roddenberry as because of him.

Roddenberry was a great man. But he was not flawless, and some of his flaws did serious damage to the franchise.
