I've been idly wondering if this isn't their "cunning" plan to get around CBS and the 'no endgame connie' ruling and still shut up hordes of players demanding one
You're about an order of magnitude short on your cunning. Put out KT Enterprise first. Collect all the money from people who really want a TOS Connie but will settle for what they can get. 6 months later put out a TOS T6 Constitution-class and rake their money AGAIN along with all the hold-outs.
It doesn't work even fractionally as well if you did it in the other order.
on one hand I hope yer right... I'll make bazillion on butthurt sales of torches and pitchforks again... and popcorn
on the other my wallet hopes not
Shame it wont be compatible with the existing TOS/TMP skins. I can envision some neat configurations if the ability to mix and match parts between them all. Oh Well.
The fact of the matter is, CBS has vetoed an endgame TOS Connie. It's as simple as that.
I'm still convinced it's much more interesting than that.
We already know the Connie wasn't supposed to be in the game at all but a TRIBBLE up in communication had Gamestop throwing a hissy fit that forced CBS to allow it into the game in some form or watch STO's launch go down in flames. The best reason for there to have been no appearance at all (and no further use beyond its tier 1 incarnation) would be Paramount weighing in, wanting to keep the visual space clear around their new movie hero-ship. "Let nothing to distract fans from the new flavor." The restriction also allowed Paramount to offer a degree of exclusivity when negotiating with other video game companies.
Now that Paramount are themselves advertising through STO, there's a lot less need to hedge out the old-school version. I really do expect we'll see a T6 Constitution in 6-8 months and that one is much more likely to appear in the Crpytic Store.

Actually, I expect it to happen much earlier than that. Get the Kelvin Universe Enterprise and put the TOS Constitution costume from the Tier 1 TOS Constitution ship on it and you get a Tier 6 TOS Constitution. So if next week's lockbox is the Kelvin Universe Lockbox, then we are getting Tier 6 TOS Constitutions next week.
Depends whether I can use the apple store bridge on other ships. No deal if I cant.

Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

And what lock box grand prize ship has ever allowed you to reskin it with a whole different ship? ...much less one less than half it's size?
I'll only get one if there's a even grind version for every factions' AR ship. I would probably not use it asterwards as a permanent ship but I'd grind them out. I won't however get it from either the store or a box (I never go for boxes).

Ok, this is a little convoluted and a lot conjecture, but its consistent with what we know.
At some point the CEO of GameStop was talking with somebody high enough up at Cryptic to be held accountable for what they were saying and asked if the Constitution would be in the upcoming Star Trek MMO. They were given an affirmative answer, likely not realizing CBS absolutely wanted no Constitution in the game. The head of GameStop was so put out when they were told it wouldn't be, they threatened to not carry the game at all. Cryptic basically had to go to CBS and say "we screwed up, can you please, please, please let us use the Constitution at least a little bit or GameStop's gonna chop us off at the knees?" CBS being not stupid and liking money made allowances for the teeny-tiny version we've had since launch to be included in the game to appease GameStop and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE.
Now CBS isn't stupid and likes money... so what possible reason could they have for blocking a sure fire monster seller all this time? Well, this would all be taking place when Paramount was about to re-launch the brand with a new movie, which would have its own games and sub-licensees, all of whom would benefit from NOT having reminders of the old-style TOS Connie running around distracting potential customers. As people pushing for a T6 Connie are so fond of pointing out you CAN get T5-U versions of several other TOS-era ships. It's not an "age" thing. Its not a setting logic thing. Those ships are ok because they DON'T step on the JJ-prise's toes. Simple as that. Paramount is rightly protecting their visual space to promote a property vastly more valuable than STO. From Cryptic's perspective the word would come through CBS, but the mandate comes from the movie side of the house.
Now that Paramount plainly sees STO as a useful ally instead of potential competition for its own sub-licensees, its possible that they'll rescind their objection to the promotion of the TOS-era Enterprise, particularly as their own ship design will be prominently displayed here. At least after they've taken their cut from the uncontested sales of the JJ-Prise and KT lock Box frenzy has died down to a dull roar. Or they may allow it as the actual 50th anniversary day rolls around on September 8th, having had a good 2 months head start.
It's a real shame the Klingon version is the D4 and not the Warbird .
I would have bought the hell out of lockboxes, DOFF packs, C-Store, whatever, to buy this...

Nope. Don't like the JJ Prise. Always felt it looked ugly, both inside and outside. Not getting a TOS T6 Constitution, but getting a JJ Prise, to me, is like asking for filet Mignon and red wine, and getting a big mac and a diet coke instead.
IF one could have a TOS Constitution skin, then I'd get it. Otherwise, no.
I would rather have the actual TOS connie in T6 form. I find it interesting that we have a TOS themed major update coming, celebrating another birthday of Star Trek, based in the TOS era, but leaving the actual TOS constitution-class itself out of endgame form.
The Nautilus Class Temporal Science Vessel can use the Daedalus Class Science Vessel costume if you own both ships
The Theseus Class Temporal Escort can use the Perseus Class Temporal Escort’s costume if you own both ships
The Sagittarius Class Temporal Cruiser can use the Gemini Class Temporal Cruiser’s costume if you own both ships
The Paladin Class Temporal Battlecruiser can use the Ranger Class Temporal Battlecruiser’s costume if you own both ships
===
And the actual TOS constitution-class is specifically left out. Despite AOY using the TOS era. But hey, there's a JJ-Prise coming but not the original connie.
NO.
no t6 connie not now not ever, it's jumping the shark
LOL, we have currently in STO:
Even more ancient ENT-era ships at endgame. Ships from before the Federation even existed, at T5.
Playable Species 8472 Bioships.
Starfleet, KDF, Romulan Republic captains flying around in non-faction ships.
And you're telling me a T6 Connie would be jumping the shark when this kind of stuff has happened already?
And if you let him keep talking, he'll claim the Cardassians were just misunderstood people and the Bajorans the evil ones. Some people have certain fetish topics you better ignore when the topic goes there, even if they have usefull stuff to offer outside that.

I too would love to see the warbird, as I play KDF as much as I do Fed. Just not on this account, I have a second which sees action. Sadly, I think Cryptic missed the boat when it came to the KDF playerbase. TRIBBLE treatment from the get go, and then a little love too late. Treated like a ginger foster kid, and then pretty much ignored. Hey at least KDF is a full fledged faction, unlike the Roms.

I dont EVER Lockbox. Ive opened like less than 5 all time. Im not gambling for the JJ Prize, no matter how sexy I think it is. ESPECIALLY considering we are going to rank out of it in the blink of an eye. Ideally, the hull and stats of the JJ Prize are so pimp, its actually a Tier 4 ship that opens up at T1. That way its still viable for a long time for the new toon we basically have to make. The JJ Prize is the LAST greatest design left to sell to make a boatload of money off of, because its obvious Cryptic designs dont ever inspire Top 5 all time sales figures. As much as theyre tempted to Lockbox it, surely they have to know that just putting it in the C store is going to make more money than the overall amount of people lockboxing. Lockboxing gimmick has ran its course. I want to assume most arent that stupid any more, considering lock box odds. If they listen to me and make it Tier 4 viable that opens at T1, its going to triple its already ludicrous C store sales figures than if its just viable at T1.

Nah. I'd get a Kelvin type, or an Armstrong type, or even a Mayflower type if the added the option of a rollbar; but neither the Connie nor the Vengence interest me in the slightest.
