People would argue otherwise about the people existing besides their characters, which some people still don't see as a 'person' per say.
But that is in another place at another time; this is more about playing normal vs advanced rather than RPing. That discussion is in another forum somewhere else.
The thing is, why are you complaining about having to try in normal while it's better to fail in advanced? They are supposed to be realms apart in terms of difficulty. Elitists, über completionists, DPSers or the like may see normal as a waste of time, but to the casual player with only $10 to spend every two weeks and a love for Star Trek, it's fine.
Either stick to advanced and actually succeed at it, like you guys are supposed to compared to an everyday man such as myself, or stop complaining and telling 'everyone' to drop normal and play advanved.
Personally, I like not seeing my ship a piece of scrap metal floating in space. Most people may not care, but to me, that ship is my character's home and his friend's and family's home.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] "Look at me I'm a target!" "Fire the Lance on my mark... MARK! "How many times have we gone into the breach again R'shee?" My proposal for a Galaxy bundle
I wasn't complaining about advanced or normal or the difficulty. I explained what happened when I tried advanced. One of the team disappeared on us, I like to think because of a d/c, which made the run harder, but we stuck it out anyway and did the best we could. And yes, Advanced is much harder than normal. I just wanted to try it once to see the differences myself. But at least I tried. I blew up, I respawned and I went back in until the dread was dead. I did not park my butt outside the fight just because it was a lot harder or because I didn't like it. I simply kept trying because that's what you do on a team.
My complaint is people who queue up for it and go in and then do nothing until the last couple of minutes when the dread spawns. That's what I'm complaining about. I'm a normal, casual player myself, I just expect that when someone queues up for a team event that everyone does their part on that team, and not abandon them until the dread spawns. There's supposed to be a penalty for that, which doesn't seem to work in MI, so they basically get all of the prizes for practically no input. And disliking something is no excuse to park your backside in a team event and not do squat until the last two or three minutes. It makes you unreliable, inconsiderate, a poor player and and even more poor person.
And BTW, for the person asking about marks. On the Normal run I just did, we got all the objectives, closed 28 rifts and no more spawned and we had about three minutes to catch our breaths. I pulled in 113 marks. It was a very good run.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
I wasn't referring to you? I was referring to those saying get off of normal since failing at advanced is preferrable to suceeding at normal.
And I agree with you my friend, but let them moan and complain. Humans have done so for over ten thousand years, they aren't going to stop now.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] "Look at me I'm a target!" "Fire the Lance on my mark... MARK! "How many times have we gone into the breach again R'shee?" My proposal for a Galaxy bundle
I love doing the MI. And I don't mind doing it on Normal play, if the other members of the team are playing as a team. There's nothing in the world wrong with having a minute or three to catch your breath before the dread spawns. It's not a game breaker and it's nice to just fly around and see if there are any loot critters still needing to be picked up, or seeing if anyone might need a quick heal, whatever.
Heck, I had someone heckling one of my alts in chat during one and I didn't even notice till I'd left out after we'd finished cause I don't bother to do much more than glance at it cause I'm more busy trying to achieve objectives. It amused me more than anything since the heckler appeared to have the mentality of a twelve-year-old. I already know I don't have the most powerful setup in the STO universe, but it's not TRIBBLE either. He survives and he blows stuff up. 'nuff said.
Now a LTS and loving it.

devs/programmers, please extend this Mirror event for 3-7 days more.
i still have some old mirror event to catch up, i had horrible bad timings for last 2 years with both Mirror events and this year i am trying hard not to miss a day.
please allow "extra days' for rest of players who may need few extra dils/or-and some rep marks on "daily" until event end, just to allow some catching ups for other folks.
14 days is real too tight to get a shard tokens for 14 days.
I find this event much easier than before. The old Typhoons were much more devastating than the Command cruisers that replaced them, despite the Command cruisers using almost all the same abilities plus their platforms and pets.
14 days is real too tight to get a shard tokens for 14 days.
It's already a 21-day event, not 14 :
The Mirror Invasion will be returning to Star Trek Online as part of a brand new limited time event starting on Thursday, November 5th, 2015, and ending on Thursday, November 26th, 2015 (when maintenance begins).
So the lowest on normal I got of marks was only 42. The highest I clocked was 58. Why the grade difference? Simple, the number of portals closed. Each portal closed is a mark; so they guy saying he closed 100 portals… exactly how many marks did you make?
Back to the 42 mark fight; I had to practically fly CAP for the starbase since no one wanted to close the portals and one person decided to stay dead.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] "Look at me I'm a target!" "Fire the Lance on my mark... MARK! "How many times have we gone into the breach again R'shee?" My proposal for a Galaxy bundle
some or many People said it before, and i say it again, PLEASE make the "Special Items" from such Events (Mirror Event, Crystaline Event, RERUNS - Shard of Possibilities, Ophidian Cane and so on) ACCOUNT WIDE Unlocks, like you did with the Event Ships, that was a great move that EVERYONE appreciated, now PLEASE do the same with those Items.
Iam not talking about the "whole" end Reward, not the Dilithium, not the Mark Boxes ONLY the "Special Item" like in this case the Agony Riffle, you allready put those Special items into the Recliam Store, so please extend it to the WHOLE Account (Account Reward Store)
Thing is, there are more than enough People who have more than just a few Characters, like me (42!) those People would like to have such Special Items on all their Characters.....but having to do this for 14 Days on Several Characters can be extremly Tiresome, in my Case if i wanted that Item (riffle) on all of my Characters, that would mean 42x20 Minutes (15 Minutes Stage 1 and more or less 5 Minutes Stage 2) = 14 HOURS PER DAY!!!!!
I doubt that anyone here would disagree that this is / would be INSANE, if i would try this, i would end up in an Asylum after just a few days
And i know enough People who have also a high number of Characters, and are facing the same Issue.
Again, all we would like to see is that the "Special Item" is unlocked Account Wide, everyone who wants the Dillithium, and the Marks can / has to do the Event with all their Characters, that would be ABSOLUTELY FAIR.
And doing this for all other "Special Items" should be an easy task, since the Characters Personal Reclaim Store, recognizes those Special Items allready, it only has to be extended to an Account Wide Reclaim Store.
So Pretty Pretty Please Cryptic??? You dont want your Players to Grind themselfs to death just to get that Item on all their Characters do you?
I'm hoping that this is more of a mistake than an fact.
Each additional Multidimensional Transporter can be traded in for an additional 50 Fleet Marks, 2000 Dilithium Ore, and 35 Marks of Your Choice (Fleet, Romulan, Nukara, Omega, Dyson, Undine & Delta) through a secondary Event Reputation Project that will become available after the main Project is completed.
Is that simply a misprint and someone forget to mention Terran Marks?

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
The Devs better extend this event as the server instability is making it unplayable for some people... it's frustrating to try to run the event on any difficulty when you keep getting SNR and disconnections and each time yuo don't get any reward regardless at what point you were in the event.
It's also throwing out login queue waiting messages.
Since not everyone can play 24/7 this is rather annoying for people who have limited time to play due to work schedules.
Since right now it seems the devs are sticking their fingers in their ears going 'lalalala everything is fine' when things obviously aren't.
There is something strange about mark rewards, I did a perfect run 35 portals closed, base fully upgraded and at 100% health and bonus dreadnought marks and got 56 marks instead of 60, with a different character I closed 20 portals, got base at 90% health but fully upgraded and bonus from dreadnought and got 52 marks instead of 44.

I know . . . it uses Cryptic math. I have been checking the last couple runs and have been shorted a few marks each time. Not only do they time gate the TRIBBLE out of the event they short you on marks!

This seems to happen if you have a good score, as I said, I had the perfect score and got 56, my last queue gave me 55 instead of 57:
Here I've got 54 instead of 52:
Also rifts stopped spawning after we closed all rifts in less than 5 minutes.
On Normal, what is minimum amount of marks? What is the max?
The max is 60. I had one yesterday where we managed the continuing rift spawn at the end but it does not go above 60 for the reward.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
On Normal, what is minimum amount of marks? What is the max?
max marks you can get is dependent on number of portals closed... so there is NO? max if you can keep closing portals. There probably IS a cap but dont know what it is.
5 marks for killing boss within time limit.
10 marks for Full HP for station.
10 marks for Defense L5.
+? marks for number of portals closed.
If you just sit and shoot ships and do jack then get the minimum of 6 portals closed that you are required to do to kill boss.
The very first one I did yesterday, we closed around 25 or so portals and they stopped spawning, so I find you saying you closed 100 of them and they kept spawning to be suspect.
This was back in the earlier editions of Mirror, which has, in fact, gone through several revamps. In the very beginning, the portals-not-spawning after you closed enough was a thing, and a real obstacle to being able to get maximum portal score. You had to work things a special way, or you'd end up with fewer marks. Not that this mattered, but at some point we put together a group just to find out what the hell the maximum score really was.
Anyway, people moaned. It was changed to Infinite Portal Hell. It seems that change has been reverted. I wonder if other things have also been reverted, or if it's just plain impossible to get full score even if you wanted to now.
I don't know about you, but part of the reason I do it is to get marks. Just because the first part is a lot of pew-pewing, I still prefer to at least attempt to complete the objectives so I can earn more marks.
That's your perogative. I don't tell you that you can't, even though you're actually making the completion time worse by adding a repulsor troll wave to the base.
Again, because it bears repeating, those who expect to get the prize even though they deliberately abandon their team do not deserve any respect, nor do they deserve the rewards. They're poor players, in my opinion, and even worse people.
Who said anything about abandoning anyone? We're all here, playing the mission our own way, for our own reasons. You want marks, I'm after the thingummy. To this end, I am following an optimized strategy which produces the desired outcome in the minimum time and effort. This strategy is demonstrated and tested to be logically correct. From my perspective, you're actually making this more difficult. But it's a public queue. I don't have any more right to dictate how you should play this than you do. Frankly, if it were possible to run the queue privately without needing 5 people, we wouldn't have this discussion.
You and I have very different views on abandoning then. If you do nothing except sit there with your thumb up your behind for three-fourths of the mission then that counts as abandoning the station (and your team). (And the fact that it simply goes offline instead of blowing up makes no difference). Those of use who want as many marks as we can try to keep that from happening, as well as closing as many portals as we can. As I stated before, close between 20 and 31 portals and they stop respawning. Even if you don't want the marks (and you can still exchange them for dil, you know), it would be nice if you (and people like you) would help out those of us who want or still need marks.
But I guess being nice and helping others is as dead as the dinosaurs for some. I'll just have to hope that Cryptic/PWE does something one day to penalize you AFKers.
Alternatively, why don't you guys form your own teams and go in and do your thing. I'm sure there's plenty of you out there. Just get in the shoutbox and shout out for others who want to go through and AFK the thing?
Now a LTS and loving it.
