Colour me surprised they did give the Lt.Comm. Tac to the Yamato (and thus copied the Andromeda - seriously, the only reason to use the Andromeda is if you absolutely hate th look of the 3rd nacelle and the lance, otherwise the Yamato is same or better in all respects).

And since they replicated the Lt.Comm. Tac on the Kara as well, it gets a curious Boff layout (also funny to see how much superior to the Galaxy family Ha'Apaxes are). And for the tac console junkies, it does get the 4th tac console already on the C-store version (same as a T5-U Haakona).

And yes, the Kolasi is simply KDF's second 'escort carrier' though curiously with destroyer masteries.

Now the big question: Why do T6 warbird cruisers get 0.5 lower turn rate than their T5 counterparts?
Both the Haakona (also the Ha'apax) and the D'Deridex have a turn rate of 5.5. But the Kara and the D'Khellra have a turn rate of flat 5.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

I'm liking that Kara warbird. My question is: Does the Kara do the same thing the Gal-X does, and have the wide beam mode when the ship is separated?

EDIT: Oh, and the Kara's spinal lance beam looks just like the Reapers' particle beams from Mass Effect 3.

Kolasi is definitely cool, just not much dreadnaught no matter how you look at it... just curious why even bother to use ship class designation when they're meaningless and so detached form archetype

Oh man... that BOff layout was so close to not being complete butts... but then I saw the Lieutenant Science... and was sad... if that were a universal slot (in addition to the Ensign Universal) it would be perfect... but nope... Maybe we can change it to a Lt. Uni... and then I can give you $30...

LtCdr Tac slot on the Gal-X AT LAST.
Slightly disappointed with the Console layout 5/2/3. A 4/3/3 would have been sweet for standard version and 4/3/4 for the fleet but its an improvement on the current Gal-x in game, not sure on whether to buy this or keep the tier 6 Galaxy as boff stations are exactly the same, the Tier 6 Galaxy benefits from either an extra Embassy console or a Research console which can give better dps returns than a 4th tact console.

The single hanger and lance aren't enough to place this in the must have category above those that already own the tier 6 Galaxy.

This is caters more to existing Galaxy-X pilots, i can't see it having many people whose main ship is a Eclipse, Guardian, Arbiter or Command ship jump out of those to fly this one it simply isn't better than any of those.

The Boff stations are not the same. The Lt Tac BOFF has been upgraded to Lt Commander. Which means CSV/CRF 2 andBFAW/BO/TS/THY 3 are now available. As should be expected on a Dreadnought. Also it has a Command Specialist slot.

So yeah, this about what we've been wanting out of the Galaxy-X and I'm quite pleased.

Yeah, except the BOff layouts for the T6 Andromeda and the T6 Yamato are the same. Both have as follows:
    - Commander Engineering
    - Lt. Commander Engineering/Command
    - Lt. Commander Tactical
    - Lieutenant Science
    - Ensign Universal
Hell, the T6 Resolute would've had the exact same layout too if the Ensign Engineering station was made universal.

It kinda sucks though because in terms of damage potential, the Yamato is superior to the Andromeda, because the stats are exactly the same. Literally, everything from the crew compliment to the inertia, turn rate, shield modifier, and hull strength are identical between both the Yamato and the Andromeda. The only differences are that the Yamato has 4 Tactical consoles vs. the Andromeda's 3 at Fleet level, and the Yamato gets the built-in Phaser Lance plus a hangar bay.

If all people care about is DPS, then the Andromeda is, for the most part, subpar to the Yamato aside from the nostalgia factor. Don't get me wrong, I love the Yamato and the Galaxy Bundle was the first big thing I bought from the C-Store, but the facts don't lie.

Have to call BS on this one... I've been doing STF on the EliteSTF and DPS channels for years now and have never even seen a Galaxy Dreadnought in team much less get a parse read out on one. I don't think it even makes the qualifier requirements for the DPS-10,000 channel. However, the Scimitar I see almost daily... It performs like a dreadnought, the Galaxy doesn't and I've frequently seen the Simitar parse in the 60K to 80K DPS range.

Shall we try this again? 17k from a level 52 captain with subpar gear. All shown at the end of the video. I changed to MK X weapons and finished the setup and did 33k the next round of ISA. Finish on a captain and I can hit 75k if I really wanted to push it without kemocite bugging it up.

    Point of confusion.

I don't own the Andromeda. It says I need the Andromeda for the costume unlock. All of the screenshots seem to show it in the Andromeda costume. What does it look like out of the box if I just get the T6 Dreadnought?
  • leviathan99#2867 leviathan99 Member Posts: 7,747 Arc User
Same exact BO layout of the Andromeda Class? A dreadnought this ship, is not. =P

They couldn't give the Andromeda the same loadout in Eng flavor as the Pathfinder (even though the Intrepid, Defiant, and Galaxy all shared identical layouts just in their respective class flavor before) due to massive playerbase whining, and the Defiant is likely either to copy the Andromeda or Pathfinder in layout.

And they couldn't give the superior loadout of the Guardian to the Andromeda either. At least they didn't give the Andromeda or its KDF equivalent the loadout of the D'Kellra (even though the D'K still has a technically superior Boff vs the Andromeda Layout, ignoring the Command hybrid on the LtC Tac).

At least they stuck to canon, as far as how canon as the Galaxy-X is; it's just a more offensive Galaxy. So the Yamato is just a more offensive Andromeda.

Personally, they should have given the Andromeda the Eng-centric seating of the Pathfinder, then give the Yamato the seating it has, which is also the Andromeda seating. But at least both have some fangs now.

I think they could have given the Dreadnought a pilot hybrid BO station. The Galaxy-X was unusually nimble and it would have made for a unique flavor that supports the cannons and lance on the ship better, especially with the low turnrate.

I've gotten 30k in a Risian Corvette with beams and all turnrate boosters. Many things are possible with FAW spam.

I really hope that Yamato will get access to all goodies from Galaxy Set (Cloak, A-M Spread, Saucer Separation), the console from Andromeda could do nice work here too... but... how all the sets would combine? 3-piece from old Galaxy, 2-piece with Andromeda, and now another 2-piece with the one on Yamato? - I hope, but also hope they will avoid bugs from all the combinations....
Still i liked the old T5 Galaxy X - i actually used it instead of Odyssey Set on my Fed Toons....
Untill the T6 made entry... then it was Command Cruisers and Breen Carrier for missions and PVE Queues.
Looks like Galaxy made it back :D

Not overexcited about the ships, but the trait would be great for my D'deridex build.

Well the stats aren't as bad as I thought they were going to be (like with the T6 Prometheus), however I'm getting sick and tired of this BS where it seems like all new ships released, the Fleet version comes with the extra Tac console rather than something else. Why? Give the ZEN version of this DREADNOUGHT that 4th Tac console so it can fight on its own. Is this how we should expect all Fleet ships now: being the ships that give the most Tac consoles? Are you so desperate for people to throw money at this game, this will be how Fleet ships work now?

Also, would you just get rid of the damn Cloaking Device console and just make the cloak built in!? Seriously, it's completely pointless now that Feds are allied with just about everyone that has cloak, it should just be built in! At the very least, the console should be an Enhanced Battle Cloak!

Yup, Fleet version AND level 4 starbase.

Definitely half $ at a sale.

They save me so much money lately, no wonder they need to have lockboxes.

Maybe they will find a Business Major in one they open.

Anybody notice that the stats for the Kara Advanced Warbird is missing a cloak of any kind? Hoping it's just a typo on their part, but have to admit that it has me a bit worried.

That would hardly be the first mistake or omission in the blogs.

What concerns me more is they give T6 warbird cruisers worse turn than T5 ones. And at least for the D'Khellra, it wasn't merely a blog mistake.

I don't see anyone who uses a Eclipse as there main jumping from it to a Guardian, Arbiter(???), Command ship or Galaxy-X T6. That ship is OP. Lets not forget the Eclipse has one of the best boff stations around. Lt Comm Tac, Lt Comm Eng, Command Eng/Intel , Lt sci/Intel and a universal ensign. Console layout for the Fleet version is 4/5/2 and it comes with a cloak (just regular). Give the T6 Galaxy-X that layout and I'll bust the old penny bank open for sure and you can keep your hanger (don't like them anyways). Lets just say, give me the option to start purchasing ship skins to use on any ship and I'll throw the X's skin on the eclipse's body and I'll be done ship shopping for awhile.

P.S. Cryptics got us by the balls when it comes when it comes to min-maxing our builds now. They know if they throw a good trait on a TRIBBLE ship its still going to sale. Thats why they can get away with pricing t6 ships now for 3000zen and not hear any backtalk, (cough, cough AHOD command TRIBBLE, cough, cough awesome trait, cough). What was that? did I hear something? Keeping it at 100, just saying.

It has the same console arrangement as the T5U and Fleet T5U ships, which came out a year ago, which is pretty typical of these T6 updates (some exceptions, but not many). They have to entice you to spend that $5 somehow.

The T6 Dreadnought comes with the Andromeda Skin, but the Fleet version doesn't. If you read it again carefully, you'll see that the Fleet version can only use the Andromeda skin if you own the Andromeda.
However, I can't help wondering if they mean the Andromeda Cruiser or the Andromeda skin of the Dreadnought. I'm thinking toward the T6 Exploration Cruiser since there is no Venture dreadnought and it comes from the T4 Exploration Cruiser.

I am a little disappoint with T6. Although we did get better tac and eng seating, still no improvement to the lance or the cloak. After two upgrades and enough console set to fill have the ship, it just never seems to get the improvement I keep wishing for. The whole selling point on this ship is the super gun. As much as I love this dreadnought, I am worried that buying this again will just be an exercise in frustration.

So the Guramba will be the new standard in DPS?

Unlikely. Without Battlecloak, a 5/3 weapons layout and frigate pets with FAW it's not going to dis-lodge the Scimitar line. The Pilot Raptors, Mat'ha and Kurak will be hard to top KDF side, unless those fighters open up some very interesting abilities at higher rarities. Having true OSS, instead of something similar via the console with a two minute cooldown, on the Mat'ha and Kurak gives them a rather nice force multiplier that the Command hybrid the Kolasi has can't match. Though the Kolasi has a superior conventional Tac loadout, in the age of Reciprocity (expensive though it be) and All Hands of Deck, that isn't as big of a deal as it once was.

So...after all this time...Federation is still the only faction with no frigate class pet?

Ill be honest, till my federation toon gets a replacement for my atrox carrier, I'm not logging onto sto, and not playing this game till my fed toon has access to the federation frigate pet I'm looking for.

Guess I'll just keep a lookout for the layout of that new in development fed carrier.

At least the Federation has multiple hanger pets that are IN faction. Romulans only carry Scorpion Fighters and the Romulan Drone Ship (which can only be used on the Scimitar-class vessels). So, technically, all Roms get to use are the Scorps if they aren't flying a Scimi.

  • vonhellstingvonhellsting Member Posts: 543 Arc User
Kind of disappointing we still only get Scorpion fighters as a Romulan choice for carrier ships. I'm not about to put Federation or klingon hanger pets on my ship "I am Romulan not a Vulcan!"
Well at least the Spinal Plasma Lance looks like it will be a nice addition.
