As for K7... remove it from the game. Its interior is of extremely low quality and the station serves no real purpose (other than a few breadcrumb missions).

I love K7 - no esd chat spam and only here and there an idiot placing a Disco ball. On top the very short ways - maybe delete esd and first City - but don't touch K7 - or Genalda.
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway :)

Yeah I think the TV shot with the Defiant is actually out of scale. Especially when compared to something like this:

    USS_Leeds_at_DS9.jpg
    Galaxy_class_docked_at_DS9.jpg
    bg4_KLLC.jpg

Then again, it is difficult to judge scale by how it looks on TV given how inconsistent these things are.

I'd say the game's DS9 could be shrunk a bit, but not to the point where it looks as small as it was compared to that Defiant.

No no no! It's scaled correctly...what you're seeing there is a shuttle craft design of a defiant is all.

Rescaling things is a waste of time. I want new content, not rehashes of old content.
DPS-Bronze, DPS-Silver, DPS-Gold, etc. are FAKE! They were created by an outvoted minority who destroyed the original DPS channels!

Tactical Team sucked, once upon a time. I got it buffed. Don't think for a minute that Cryptic ignores forum feedback.

I honestly think that DS9 should remain the size it is, for in-game reasons, but maybe give it an overhaul visually. Its pretty close to what it looks like in the shows, but it can be better and I think the Art Team is more than capable of tackling it.

As for K-7. The novelty has worn off. I get that they wanted to make a nod to TOS with a static space station back when the game first released. But its beyond time for that out dated and poorly layed out place to get an update. If they dont want to do that then just remove it. And if they dont want to lose the nod to TOS. Than add some sort of Statue or high quality image in the new K-7. Makes no sense that in the middle of a war they can afford to replace ESD twice (For those newer to the game, the traditional mushroom space station was not the ESD we had at launch. http://ruzstolog.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/earth-spacedock.jpg) but not once update or replace an extremely aging and by far subpar space station on the Fed-Klingon Front. Heck, if theyre feeling lazy. Just use the original ESD. Its an interesting design and looks like it could be a natural design evolution for what K-7 might of developed into over the years. Maybe update it a little visually and you have a new K-7.

It was never scaled correctly on the actual TV show itself. When they composed shots, they went for what 'looked good' on the screen. Why should a game based on that (and all the other Star Trek series) be any different?

I remember when they had DS9 to scale during STO Beta, that's when it was "TOO SMALL!" then they made it larger and it became, "it's too big!" Trust me, its better as is.

But the key thing people have yet to mention is that in DS9 they still used Studio models. And the DS9 full scale was as large as the Defiant Studio Model, so they they had to create a docking model. So everything you see on the show wasn't to true scale, but camera scale. If you doubt me, then go to the DS9 battle scenes where ships are flying through the rings. We can recreate it with the larger DS9 model in STO, but it was impossible with the accurate-scaled DS9.

As for the interior of DS9, yeah it still needs tweeked. Even after her revamp it still didn't have the Security Office, the Assay Office, and the Infermary. But hey the doctor is in the bank, drop by! So if Taco did another remodel, sure be nice if those circular stairs were added and holosuite ports for Foundry Authors (in making holosuite episodes).

Tbh, I think "proper" scale is not that needed. I do not want to spend hours trying to run from place A to place B. I like the scale as it is now atm.

I'm not fused about the outside of the station but the interior needs to be shrunken down a bit and look more like how it is from the show. They've got the DS9 tech manual for info.

They got lots more than the DS9 Tech manual, but the effort you ask for to make it feel to scale would require them to redo the zone from scratch. It took Tacofangs months just to redo ESD.

That said, if he can get the big boss to allocate the hours for it, all indications are he'd likely enjoy the project, so it would be more than mere busy work. :)

the promenade should be in the middle with the habitat ring where the current map is based.

I don't really care about the scale of DS9, but the game could use those adorable tiny defiant combat pets
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Actually, I always thought that the show's DS9 was too small. And when inside, the corridors were too curved.

You sure? If I'm not mistaken, the Promenade is right below Ops. The Promenade is smaller than a good sized grocery store.

The promenade was fine. But when they walk down the habitat rings, they (the corridors, not the people ;)) seem to be too curved to me. I may be wrong, of course, but that was my impression.

Because what "looks good" to one person doesn't necessarily look food to another person. A standardized, "in-continuity" size and scale is needed for consistency and reference.

Just because I can, since everyone is on this "it's the wrong size thing" I would point out the tech manuals are considered non-canon :P (No I'm not a canonphile, I just like point things out).

Considering the effects people on DS9 couldn't even maintain a scale for the station or the Defiant, I don't see how anyone can come here and say it's wrong.

Wow never realized DS9 was that small. Galaxy class is pretty big next to it. Can't imagine Odyssey or D'Derix

The same way fans figured out the JJprise's scale.

DS9 changed sized in the series as visual effects demanded.

We will never see a 'correct' size for the station because there never was a correct size for the station.
