I'd like for that event to come back for damn sure.

From what I understand, Delta Recruits was very successful and profitable for Cryptic. With that in mind, it would be likely for them to do it or something similar again in the future.
Personally, I would want to see a return of the event. I even have a plan as to what kinds of characters I'm going to make already.
Also, I believe this is technically a necro thread.
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
as I stated in a previous thread I think it highly likely they will do another delta type event, its just a matter of when.
whether this will be as profitable for seasoned players who took part in the last event is another matter.
if it is the exact same delta recruit event with the same account wide rewards as the previous event this will seriously limit if not totally exclude any account wide rewards to players who received the account wide rewards in the previous event.
if they rename the event to say gamma event with a completely different set of account wide rewards we will be very fortunate.
the problem cryptic faces is how many disposable delta characters will end up being deleted in favour of the next batch of gamma recruits if this is the case.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I hope a similar event comes around again, but not the exact same Delta Recruit with same prizes (wouldn't do any good). Maybe a Gamma Recruit, or Some-new-rep Recruit, or whatever else.
Wouldn't have to delete the delta recruit. They gave us an additional character slot for the delta event and would probably do so again.
doesn't matter, if you only want say 6 characters maximum and you already have your 3 main characters and 3 disposable (delta) characters and you are offered the chance to get lots of bonus goodies for your main characters by creating 3 new gamma characters its bye bye deltas.
during the delta event you could only get every account unlock reward if you had delta characters from all 3 factions, if you only had 1 delta character you missed out on several account wide bonuses.
and you don't think for one minute they are going to keep giving players a free slot year in year out every time they run this event do you, we might be lucky and get 1 more next time but they are not going to keep dishing out free slots if this becomes a yearly or even 2 yearly event.

Well, if you consider that:
- There will most certainly be a service sale right before, or during the event
- On a sale, 4 character slots cost more or less the same as a single Rep space set worth of dilithium (or about 7 days of refining with the 3 free characters).
I'd hardly say dumping characters is required at all.

character slots are not a problem for me, I have plenty of free spaces thanks, like I said in my comment above, although dumping characters is not required its just a case that I don't want more then 6 and as I have done the minimum I needed to on my 3 deltas to maximise the benefits for my 3 main characters I have very little invested in my deltas so they are completely disposable.
if deleting them benefits my main characters in any way they are doomed.
and I suspect there are many seasoned players who look at their deltas in the same way.

I think that another recruitment event should be run, but not Delta, maybe Temporal, but if that were to happen we'd probably need more of the new storyline established with the new featured episodes that are coming out this season.
Anyway from the October 8th Release Notes:
'The Delta Recruit specific "Show Delta Recruit Details" button will now only display during a Delta Recruit event.'
Since that is over I might read into this that instead of being taken out completely that Interface element it is being kept for future 'Delta' (or Fill in the Blank) Recruit Events.
'But to be logical is not to be right', and 'nothing' on God's earth could ever 'make it' right!'

Well, in that case, I don't see what is the "problem" that cryptic will have to "face". If these characters are already unused/disposable, it means they are not active/paying characters so deleting them should not be a problem financially (even less so technically).
I don't personally think that it will happen again. Cryptic never said one way or another but they DID say that they wanted to maintain "rarity" for certain items acquired during events and that event items would not be brought back in the future. This is why I think that Delta Recruits won't come back. We may see similar events though. Lots of people have talked about possible "Gamma Recruits" or "Mirror Recruits" events happening in the future. Though if something like this does happen, there will probably be different rewards then what Delta Recruits received.
Aside from the illogic of cryptic's position on this, maybe they could do a new kind of recruit event with new rewards instead?
That would not force them to violate their own rules.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

the problem for cryptic is that when they look at their metrics and say x amount of new captains were created during this event making the total of the previous characters + new characters created for this event being equal to the new value of character now in the game, there will be a massive discrepancy when previous characters + the number of new characters created is far greater then the new value of characters now in the game.
besides which I did not say these characters are completely inactive, only that whatever they do is only to benefit my main characters, this basically means things that bring in large amounts of EC and dilithium this means basically levelling them up to the minimum amount to get the delta event rewards then just doing stuff like doff, Admiralty and mirror/crystalline events.
they have the basic minimal gear they need to get by, so no great amounts of dilithium spent upgrading, none of the newer missions played from dyson and beyond and no zen spent for their benefit alone.
they are basically just farming for my main character and easily expendable and replaceable and any new characters created in the next event will easily pick up where the old ones left off.
and as I said before I know there were plenty of other players who used their deltas in the same way by the amount of posters during the last event who referred to their deltas as disposable farmers in the forum.

I don't know. To be honest I wouldn't want to level a fifth toon.
I imagine I said something similar before my 5th toon. Probably before my 6th through 13th toons as well. I had stopped at ten, but then Delta Recruits happened...
LOL, I remember that in the Delta Recruit event, a lot of people's progress came to a dead halt or snail's pace from the awful DS9/Dominion story arc
Me: "You want me to do those terrible missions x3 over?... No."
well now that those horrible episodes are gone, should be ok.

"Of Bajor" and "Operation Gamma" remain. It takes months before I am willing to slog through those again.
I re tried operation gamma it seems the trick to that mission is to have a well geared shuttle.
Of Bajor isn't so awful, just rather annoying.

As successful as the Delta Recruiting even was, they would be missing a golden opportunity if they didn't do a similar event again.
I made a new character during the Delta Event, and if they ran a similar promotion again, I would make another one.
I made 2 during the event.. Rom/Fed and Rom/KDF. Only real gripe I have about the event was "Dust to Dust" went to LvL 60 episode BEFORE we could get the mission and thus, the Kobali Space set.. As it stands now, You either Skip as much of the Delta Quadrant as you can to shorten the run, or play the entire Delta Quadrant story line to get to "Dust to "Dust", which happens to be the LAST missions of the DQ Arc.. :O(

Yeah, the Bajorans snivel a lot.... Gamma really just needs a competent shuttle pilot. Heck, someone who's actually good at it can play it for you while you watch.....
They said they would probably consider doing something like Delta Recruit again in the future and I hope that they do. I wouldn't want it to be identical, though. It would be good if it were based on a different theme.
To the point that the Alliance lost many ships and their crews, one could easily see another recruitment drive to increase their ranks. I would really love to see something coupled with an Exploration themed expansion. I would be equally glad to see a recruiting event tied to new playable races.
Double 360's, Point Defense System, and a two seater Shuttle/Whatever and you get through that first part. Those Point Defense Systems handles the Swarmers in no time.

I thought I was done at 5 myself but I made one for Delta. I just can't go beyond 6 because I play them all equally (much more casually these days). If I were to make a new one for a new event they would have to die tragically at the end.

you do realise that no actual players ships were lost during the war, that was only hype for the latest expansion.

Yeah arrays+FaW are great for the DS9 stage. The Asteroid field I usually use Torps +Torp spread.
