The Delta Recruit Event was a way for newer players to "close the gap" between their inventories and skills and those of long time players. Somewhat. It was also a way for older players to revisit parts of this game they have not been to in a very long time. The preceding are opinions and should not be mistaken for facts.
I prefer playing KDF or Rommie but when Delta Recruit started I decided to roll up a Fed Science char. I did not intend originally to play him every day or work exclusively on bringing hiim up to par with my other chars. Mostly, I just wanted to keep my hand in on the Blue Side. In case it got interesting again. The rewards offerd for doing so were a good return on the time I would have to invest. To my surprise, I found myself really enjoying playing my "Delta Retread". Hadn't played some of the Fed missions in years and a lot of them were different from what I recalled. I had fun playing STO again. Something which does not occur nearly enough for my taste.
It was never impiied or inferred during the Event nor the adverts leading up to it the Delta Recruit Event was a one time event. It also was never implied or inferred it would occur again. I understand the idea of always leaving the audience wanting more. So I can see where Cryptic might want us to be unsure about it. Do you think they should run this Event again? And should they do so multiple times in the future? I'm thinking running it every other year is a good idea.

I had fun with my Delta Recruit. Cryptic never said one way or the other they would run such again. Do you think they ought to?

It was a pretty fun event. I actually started 2 Deltas (Fed and KDF) to help with Fleet projects. STILL need to work on my KDF as she's on Nimbus III and there's a nice, shiny Negh'Tev in her future.
I don't personally think that it will happen again. Cryptic never said one way or another but they DID say that they wanted to maintain "rarity" for certain items acquired during events and that event items would not be brought back in the future. This is why I think that Delta Recruits won't come back. We may see similar events though. Lots of people have talked about possible "Gamma Recruits" or "Mirror Recruits" events happening in the future. Though if something like this does happen, there will probably be different rewards then what Delta Recruits received.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

I expect them to change up the rewards offered if they decide to run it again. It would be foolish for them to not do so.

Maybe they should make a special Romulan/Klingon recruit event, for example. But this time benefiting already existing characters, too, perhaps? (And with rewards carefully selected so this isn't a boost for KDF Contrabanding Alts, but for actively played characters.) Something to drive some population to the lesser played factions. (If it works out, it will also pay off for Cryptic, since that means more people buying Romulan and KDF ships in the C-Store.)

I think that every time the story is making a quantum leap (going to a new quadrant, starting / ending a major war -by major i mean a war that is going to last one or more years IRL-), there should be a... let's call it a recruitment event. Because this (=the associated bonuses and the changes to the story / missions it initiates) is the only thing that motivates me to create new characters.
It's not the fact that i lack ideas or concepts for new characters, it's the fact that bringing a new toon from lvl 1 to 60, with decent gear and spec points, is a time-consuming process that i don't want to start if i don't have a good reason for that.
Season 11 is imho a perfect time to start one of those events : Starfleet / KDF / Romulan personnel has been decimated by the Iconian War, and in the same time new exploration expeditions are planned. The Alliance has greater need than never before of fresh recruits.
I would like some Q event where he sends your character back. One can keep their spec points and all missions reset. Maybe charge 1k zen for a token or something after the event? IDK, it's not a fully fleshed out idea.
I dunno, last time they did the event, the forums were flooded with "Cryptic is FORCING us to do stuff we don't want to."
But people always complain about everything Cryptic does. It's difficult to figure out from the forums whether a majority of players is speaking or a minority.
I think the question was- did it look like the event was a success and had many participants? I think it did.

I can certainly see another recruitment event happening as it was a success for old and new players. Anyone that disagrees really shouldn't be playing. Despite the few negatives the usual players throw out on these forums, it's what's happening in-game that matters. I have 2 Delta Recruits, and all my other 4 toons benefitted, I even made a new character last week and that still gets the benefit of the Recruit event!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I thought the event was good. Even though I barely have time for other alts, I went and created one. She is almost lv10 and I have a lot of plans for her. Only thing is time to play.

Then again, I can barely keep my now dozen guys'n'gals under control, getting it up to 15 would be hard. And I like them all too much to drop 'em...
On a similar vein, I like all the events, featured episodes and stuff that is thrown at us. At the same time I would love a couple of weeks just to get some more episodes done on the toons that are less advanced in the sory...

I dunno, last time they did the event, the forums were flooded with "Cryptic is FORCING us to do stuff we don't want to."
The only time I remember that in connection with the Delta event was during the 'replay old episodes' part which came two weeks after we had done them the first time, so obviously people weren't too keen on doing them all over again. Otherwise the whining in the forum were no worse than during any other event, so by that logic Cryptic should never run any event ever again. Don't know about you, but I don't really see that happening.
Honestly, I hope they plan something similar next year. It's the 50th anniversary of Star Trek and the next movie is hitting the theaters, those things could get this game a lot of new players. Having an intro event a la Delta Recruit would be a nice thing for them. At least I'm hoping they're doing something for the anniversary.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.
Cryptic never said one way or another but they DID say that they wanted to maintain "rarity" for certain items acquired during events and that event items would not be brought back in the future.
You mean like they said the pre-order items would be exclusive?
That only sticks until they see they can make money off them again.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
I would like another event like this as well, even though I really didn't participate in the last one. It wasn't that I thought it was bad or anything, just for me as a veteran player the stuff they added in wasn't really all that new. The Iconian data and tech was mostly stuff we'd find out in the course of the story anyway. What I personally would like to see are new playable races. For example, Denobulan or Deltan.
If they offer me another free character slot, absolutely! I have put too much into each of my toons to delete one just for a delta recruit. BUT, I had fun playing thru the old missions again and finding the Iconian stuffs... However, now that the Iconian story is over, it would be nice to see more of a Gamma Recruit to do exploring in the Gamma quadrant...

I view the Delta Recruit Event as an all-round success. Good for both the players and for Cryptic's bottom line. I've not seen anything anywhere to refute this viewpoint. I'm hoping the people at Cryptic are smart enough to figure this out for themselves. Without someone beating them over the head with a Scimitar repeatedly until the lght bulb comes on.
They've already established <Copy/Paste> is their game development technique of choice, even when they have the talent and manhours to do better. So, ringing in a variation on this theme should be obvious to even a blind man.
But I come to praise the Delta Recruit Event, not to drown it under a sea of seething nerd rage. I'd say this is an idea which has all sorts of possibilities left within it. And it should be easier to do successfully the second time around.

The Delta Recruit event roped me back into the game after I quit in frustration at the start of the year. In my opinion it was a step in the right direction and a sign that the executive decision making had changed for the better. I'd definitely be open to another type of event, might as well be the Delta event since they already have all the assets needed for it. (less work for them) But I'd also be open to a different type of event.
PSA: Any players with Delta Recruits that have not finished the Cardassian Arc should do so ASAP in the event that the season 11 Cardassian Arc revamp messes up the Delta Objectives.
Unnecessary, since the items/rewards are placed in the new missions.
Yes. this was only ever a good idea if it was intended as a repeating event.

He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

Yes it was. There will be no more Delta Recruit events ever. The reason is because it was tied to the 'current' story arc.
A dev interview did say that because the Delta Recruit event was such a success, they'll consider events like it to be done in the future(like a "Gamma Recruit" event), but there will only be one Delta Recruit event.
I really like the event and the rewards were sweet, especially the holographic bridge officer.
Maybe they should add a new race in with the new season and have some kind of recruitment going for the new mini-faction, like a Cardassian political/military party joining the Alliance out of necessity.
Granted, after Iconian's - there isn't a real big threat to warrant that decision now. But who knows what the Mirror Universe will throw at us that could possible surpass the Iconion threat. I'm thinking of a temporal war of sorts, in which the very Federation [creation thereof] will be threatened.
A Suliban would be nice as a race option for whomever they are suited for, I presuming Romulan.
The Dominion joining in on the fight, maybe against their own Mirror Universe counterparts - perhaps they are actually very nice on their end. Many possibilities there to add a new event similar to the Delta Recruit event.
I don't know. To be honest I wouldn't want to level a fifth toon. I'm still working on 3 others behind my main with the DR added in. But then again it was pretty fun working with my fleet to finish missions. And for the first time my Rhode Island Refit they gave away after the first summer event saw use, and it gave me an excuse to play with the Belleraphon/Pathfinder classes without switching my main off her vesta. Kinda mixed feelings on this to be honest. But I guess time will tell won't it?

No, opening it again really wouldn't make sense given what it was in the first place, however I wouldn't mind seeing another, similar recruitment event happen sometime in the future. Being able to claim bonus rewards from the tesseract thingy for reaching certain milestones was an incredibly satisfying game mechanic.

Is there confirmation of that? Have people taken their DRs onto Tribble or something?
EDIT Well I took one of my DRs onto Tribble and can confirm the two iconian pick ups are in The Spoils of War and The Factory.
Well I really enjoyed it. It was a nice lateral injection of content into the entire game which I'm still enjoying the fruits of. I am on more often because I can star t a recruit and get benefits from the Delta project, encouraging me to play more often.
I would like it again, but, its a business decision. They just need to look at how much it costs against the increase in customer spending increase of visibility. Then that'll tell them what to do.
Like the man says, its all about the money all of the time. So goes business.
