I briefly remember that. It was when he wanted Kirk to return in the next Star Trek movie, but Paramount went with the First Contact plot that didn't involve Kirk at all. So Shatner ended up writing his own parallel universe about what he thought First Contact should have been like.

No, it was in a book by Jeffrey Lang called Section 31: Abyss. Thought it featured the Kirk Cabal, a counter-Section 31 group.

That doesn't mean that Dougherty wasn't somehow connected with Section 31. We learned in "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" that Admirals like William Ross would look the other way while Section 31 conducted its business. If they were desperate enough the Federation council could look away too.

That's assuming the Federation Council is even aware of the existance of Section 31. It is a shadow organization after all.

Insurrection was a great Trek movie.

Arguably it's the most 'true to TNG' movie in the franchise.

The movie wasn't one of my favorites. However I loved the Son'a big ship. At least put that into the game.

Despite the plot of the film, I say it's still a good idea to borrow elements from it. Besides the neat looking Son'a battlecruisers with their subspace weaponry which could be added to the game, I would also like to see the Type-11 Shuttlecraft and Starfleet Scoutship in the game. Son'a fighter Hanger Pets would be pretty cool as well.

That fan belief is based on the game Star Trek : Legacy, and its one of the least obnoxious of the conflicting Borg Origin theories/stories that have been thrown out over the years. Here right from Memory Beta:

I am aware of it, but in my book it doesn't make sense. It's just lumping superficial similarities together to create some more recognition - the very definition from Memory Beta goes against the portrayal of the Borg in "Q, Who". The Borg does not consider carbon life forms inferior, the Borg is (are) a carbon based life form. The Borg isn't (aren't) machines. V'Ger is a machine. V'Ger is a single consciousness, the Borg is a collective. Granted, First Contact/Voyager rewrote the Borg and the Collective was abandoned and retconeed with a single consciousness of a queen and zombie drones. This is what I call "nu-Borg" and you can indeed twist it far enough that V'Ger is the Borg Queen, although it would still be a stretch. But "Nu-Borg" and Borg from "Q, Who" are indeed two completely different things that contradict each other.

At the very least, (mandatory: despite the rather severe problems with the game right now that I'd rather get fixed before anything new gets added), a T6 Sovereign/Regent with a proper Sovereign full interior would be most welcome, preferably one that doesn't come with the Intrepid interior lock-out 'treatment'.

Ok so I had to look up both The Motion Picture and The Final Frontier plots to make sure I'm not going crazy and they both have nothing to do with the Borg what-so-ever.
    (...)

There is a "fan believe" that resides within the "trekdom" that the probe from TMP is somehow supposed to be Borg or send by the Borg or be the founder of the Borg. Of course it isn't and people who still cling to this theory obviously didn't understand the basic in-lore concept of either of those beings AND disregard the out-of-universe reasons the two cannot be related. Cryptic however paid tribute to the matter by modelling their "Borg command ships" after the machine being V'Ger in TMP.

Roddenberry himself speculated that the Machine Planet that V'Ger (Voyager probe) encountered and that repaired it, might've been the Borg or in some way connected to them. This is neither confirmed, denied, nor canonized officially anywhere, though.

V'Ger was aluded to have been to the Borg homeworld in one of Shatner's Star Trek Novels, where Romulans captured Spock and he came to find out the Romulans were experimenting with Borg tech, and he melded with one of the villians to realise that he'd had the same 'sensation of thought' when he melded with V'Ger. If you watch the Remastered Director's Cut of ST:MP, V'Ger's ship is almost a copy of the Borg Cap Ship (this is most apparent after the cloud has dissipated). Add to that Spock's own narrative about what happened to V'Ger, then it does all make sense.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

What was wrong with enterprise? The last couple seasons were top notch!

Insurrection was not great however. But maybe a so'na lock box? Their ships were interesting at least.

Agreed the Xindi-arc was brilliant and Voyager had the most interesting characters and stories in the entire franchise! At least it didn't have that idiot man-TRIBBLE Riker and irritating Jar Jar Binks prototype Wesley Crusher.

No, VOY didn't have Riker; but it did have Bi-Polar janeway, who was written very inconsistently: One week will to sacrifice everyone and everything for the Prime Directive; and the fol, lowing week throwing the PD out the airlock to save a single crewman, etc.

VOY also gave us probably the worst written episode in the Star trek franchise: "Threshold"

Also, there's many terms I would use to describe VOY's stories; but "most interesting" would not be among them.

The problem with sona boats being brought in game is that it would take far too many polys to model them convincingly and attractively imo. There are tons of little details on those things that simply can't be textured or even bump mapped in. Modders for STBC ran into that problem and ended up having to release ones that looked awful simply because a detailed one was impractical to make.

    Hehehe.... AHAHAhaHAHaHAhahahh!!!!

Actually one of the older Star Trek games had the Son'a in it as bad guys. Their ships were not identical to the movie version, but they looked pretty close.

I agree with the interior... but I think the Sovereign model should be based on the Nemesis and post-Nemesis refits not the earlier movies.

I mean... we already have the 'Riker Swoon' console... so I think we have enough from Insurrection...
