    The Krenim Timeship, aka "Babylon 5 TRIBBLE for Voyager", is ginormous...it should never...EVER be playable outside of a FE.

    Weird...for some reason, the word "h - a - c - k" is edited/asterisked out. Odd, that.

    Science Dreadnaught? Are you guys referring to the Krenim Temporal Weapons Ship? No way in hell do we get to fly that as a our own ship. At best it will be a special mission where we get to control it. My guess is we'll be escorting it to the Andromeda Sphere to escort the sphere out of existence. That ship is WAY too broken as a regular ship.

    In any event these changes seem very positive. Time will tell as the other lockboxes cycle through and we all see how it shakes out with the past items.

    Immersion has always taken sacrifices to gameplay. Remember - a phaser set to kill can instantaneously vaporize/disintegrate a person. You don't need to hit it 5 times to achieve the effect.

    In other words, the Big Temporary Destroyer Weapon of Doom/Destruction/WinkOutOfExistence will at best turn into a fancy phaser lance / disruptor javelin.

    That isn't particularly extreme power. Ultimately, we're still flying starships that can practically devastate an entire planet's surface, be it with weapon power or some fancy biochemical weapon.

    When you upgrade a c-store ship to T5-U it gives that ship a free upgrade at account level for all other characters. That also means if you delete and reclaim that same ship on your character at a later date you can upgrade it again for free.

    True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!

    mehh i was hoping for a science ship...
    Removing the mini doff packs and making it a little more rewarding to open a box is nice but putting another bunch of destroyers/battlecruisers in after the late big influx will not make me open one of these boxes.
    My Sci is in dire need of a proper T6 science ship (no-fed)

    Exactly, if you say Krenim or Year of Hell people think Aronax' Timeship, people don't think Zahl Cruiser or Krenim Warship, we've seen that warship for like 3 seconds or something like that in the Voyager episode... capital mistake if they add it with the crummy Delta Pack, if not lockbox, at least make it a event related reward, it'd be the decent thing to do.

    OMG OMG OMG doggies have finally been added, yes now we have cats and dogs, awesome! Also, many players I am sure will greately appreciate the changes, that have been made to improve lock box rewards that aren't dare I say cannon fodder trash! Nice changes Cryptic!!!

    Nothing in it really grabs my attention to want anything from it. Not trying to be mean but that is just how it is. Much less haven't seen anything remotely close to solving issues of the game that drove me away from even doing daily stuff. Just feels like its more grind for substandard stuff and then on top of that no ground weapons lol.

    Now if say they had a krenim doff or something that modifies what kind of cloak your ship has then I might have been interested in that just seems development on what I like to play just has been completely abandoned.

    lol - again, they AREN'T removing the doff packs, just the R&D Mini Packs.

    After the Khellid accolade fiasco they promised never ever to tie an accolade to a lockbox again.

    Now they go and tie 2 titles (and a pain to obtain if it requires doff assignment crits) to a lockbox. History repeats itself.

    I for one, like the R & D mini packs. Other than that, kudos for getting rid of the trash boosts. Hopefully we don't have to wait a year for you to have sufficient "input" to mod the earlier lock boxes.

    Before we list out the prizes being made available, we’d like to take a few minutes to inform you all of some “under the hood” changes that have been made for this upcoming Lock Box. In an effort to improve a feeling of worth when opening every Lock Box, the lower-tier prizes normally offered will be undergoing some noteworthy changes.

    Awesome. I'm so glad that the emotional value of worth is so much more important than a tangible value of worth. Who cares what the actual facts and data are as long as you feel good about it?

    But we're talking about gambling here, so the moral compass in this topic is already pointing south.
    Firstly, we have removed Mini-Packs from the prize table. The removal of a prize with such a large chance of occurring means that all other prizes within this Lock Box have received a relative boost in their odds of dropping.

    And we just take your word for this, right? Because you aren't going to tell us what the actual odds are. You never did before, and there's no reason you would start now.

    Despite all the other number of bugs in the game involving the RNG, the lockbox RNG is pristine and works as intended and always did, right?

    So, clearly we can take what you say at face value without any sort of data to back up your claims.
    Secondly, we have removed Small Boosts, and replaced them with Extra-Large Boosts. These new, larger Boosts include items such as 35,000 Fleet Credit Bonus Pools and 750 Mark Bonus Pools. The existing Large Boosts will have their odds of dropping increased to approximately the rate of the previous Small Boosts, while these new Extra-Large Boosts remain a bit rarer.

    And again, we just take this at face value because we have no other choice in the matter. Awesome.
    Our hope with these changes is that we’ve managed to further reinforce the sense of value that players feel each time they use a Master Key to open a Lock Box.

    Yeah, well I can hope in one hand and excrete in the other and we'll see which one fills up first. If you are simply hoping for more patronage of your master key sales and lockbox participation, then maybe the problem is with your policies and not the players.

    In a data-driven environment, I'm pretty shocked that you're hoping that that you're reinforcing the sense of value. These are not quantifiable things. Hope is not quantifiable. Sense is not quantifiable.

    You don't put emphasis on actual value, or take steps to help push the change from hope to confidence. You're just gambling on player stupidity and impulse buying, and that players will blindly take what you tell them at face value when in other parts of the game -- you're perfectly willing to be more open and transparent, and engage in honest communication.

    Your honest communication when it comes to lockboxes have not been that great in the past, and I see absolutely no concessions in this dev blog to see any indication of learning your lesson now.

    And this is a major indicator as to why down below.
    While these changes will be restricted to the Year of Hell Lock Box for the time being, we are considering updating older boxes with similar changes if they receive a positive reception.

    Okay, so you think you're doing the right thing and making the right choice with the Year of Hell Lockbox. You acknowledge that the "sense of value" or "feeling of worth" for past lockboxes is enough of a problem to try to correct it. But you're only willing to do the right thing and making a better, more ethical choice if people respond positively to this lockbox.

    Which, of course... means that they're willing to spend money on master keys this time around for this particular lockbox before you're willing to go back and go under the hood for the previous lockboxes.

    This speaks more about that "hope" thing rather than "confidence". You honestly do not seem confident that your changes are meaningful. If you don't appear confident in your changes, why should the players? Do I want a video game developer that is confident in their meaningful changes, or do I want a developer that hopes their changes are meaningful?

    A business should always do the right thing, consequences be damned. I understand that's not how it works in America, or in the video game industry. But if you want some honest feedback, people respond better to companies who don't look like they're becoming morally bankrupt.

    It's a shame to see so much improvement with Cryptic's communication in other aspects of the game, only to see more of this superficial means of appeasement when it comes to chanceboxes.

    Tell us more about the coalition disruptors, apologies yet unnamed weapon packs. What is their weapon type and what makes this weapon type unique? (I'm assuming residual temporal radiation)

    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Just 1 Krenim ship... ??? poor guys.... sigh. And where is my beloved time ship??? nuuuuu..... a waste of lockbox, again. I also thought that they will be introducing the time ship as a strong science ship built. I see that science definitely will be forgotten to the obvlivion lol.

    That's good news if it's true. :)

    Still, with another set of ships coming, I will run out, maybe not this round, but the next. We honestly need more ship slots.

    Where's the science dreadnought? Let's face it, that's the real prize here. Pretty disappointed it'll no doubt be used for some kind of pack promotion.

    Additionally, the Weapons Pack that will be found in this Lock Box will offer players that open the pack a choice of the type of weapon they would like to receive – Cannons or Beams.

    I'm guessing most were wanting the specific weapon type to be choose-able, not just the general weapon type. While an improvement over the purely random weapon class, if I'm using DHCs, I'm going to want 3-5 DHCs and 2-4 Turrets, not single cannons and DCs. On a Broadsider, I'm going to want all beam arrays, and DBBs are getting tossed. More value to me if fully choose-able weapon item, even if the mods are still random. To get the mods I want on the weapons I want, I'd open more directly if the specific weapon type, whereas with getting not usable weapons on my build means I'm going to wait for what I want to come up on the Exchange instead.

    Not sure I get the Beagle link. :)

    Porthos was a beagle from Enterprise he was Capt. Archers dog just like the cats we got a ways back now all the players that screamed to bring porthos in now have that

    hope I spelled that right

    as for the lockbox should have seen this coming after the last FE but either way this should be interesting how the drop rate has been slightly changed.

    Let's jus say I'm very much angry at the Reciprocity trait being lockboxed.

    Yes, on one side KDF and Romulans are getting this OP trait. (That's pretty much what I've always wanted.) But on the other hand it being a lockbox item means I'll never get it.

    Also, adding new lockbox assignements for dil and xp after the originally Klingon 12 hour assignements (mostly used for xp gain) were majorly nerfed is another low blow.
    TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
    Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

    Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

    The most intriguing aspect of this lock box is the Temporal Investigation Assignments, but not if it's all on the shoulders of an RNG and probability. I'm not going to spend a fortune just for the chance of running a few cool doff assignments. It's like a chance of a chance of a chance...

    And really, they ought to figure out which direction ships fly before releasing them. This is three ships now that are going backwards. Watch them finally release a T6 Refit Enterprise... that flies with the nacelles forward!
