Speaking of manual processes, I DO have an idea of how to set up a very, very bare-bones "dev tracker" of sorts, though it will in no way match the functionality of the current one, and it may take me considerable time. (No, it will not involve scripts or any other things that should not be on the forum.) I can't promise when it will happen, though one idea I have is to do it in stages. But I'll see what I can do over the course of the next week, once we migrate.
The Dev Tracker right now is based on the forum's search function, searching all posts of a number of peoples. If Cryptic where to ensure that we have a list of all "dev" posters, we could probably always improvise something like that, unless the Vanilla forums don't let us search (by names).

If you check how it works, the dev usernames are all tied into the "devtracker" username... so that searching for posts by "devtracker" pops up the full listing of all devs that have been tied in. If they simply carry that system over, and allow the search to be restricted to the individual games' subforums, it should work fine...
Ugh, I was going to check and see if a similar functionality exists, but arcgames is a tad "special" and insists on making me enter a PIN every time I try logging in... from the same computer connected to the same ISP. I don't care enough to check anymore, but I really hope that ends with the forum migration.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I really, really hope postings like that don't get to be completely ignored when we rush head first into half-baked forum software lacking in "unimportant, non priority" things like security and privacy...
Much of the feedback from the previous thread on the matter was obviously ignored for it to have to be brought up again here, yeah? It's likely an overall goal for the forums though. Cause anybody with a lick of sense wouldn't go near it with a ten foot pole while wearing a hazmat suit. So the forums will be a much happier place where everybody can sing nursery rhymes while hugging one another.

Do you have cookies disabled? Every time I clear all my cookies, arcgames.com insists on sending me a new PIN. It also seems to use the same cookie for two different accounts. For example, if I sign in to arcgames.com using one account and then try to sign in using another account, arcgames.com will require a new PIN for the second account. Then, if I try to sign back in to the first account, it will require a new PIN for the first account. The only way I've found to avoid this is to use two different browsers for two different accounts.

The search is much more primitive on the new forums. What I was thinking would have to be done is simply have a sticky post that has the link to each dev or CM's "Latest Comments." The trouble is that like here, there is no member list viewable to the public. That means the easier way by far would be for the devs themselves to put it together. For a member to do it would mean not only having a full list of the devs, but doing a search on the current forum while we have a more powerful search function, to have posts that each of them did so we can go from the post into their profile and get the link we need for the dev tracker that way. Much more labor-intensive on our end for sure.
BTW, again, for those who do not want to view boards for other games, once you get logged in, hover your mouse over each one you don't need, and a very faint gear will appear in its upper right hand corner. Click on that gear and hit "Hide." Do the for each one you don't want, and you'll be good to go as far as visual clutter is concerned.

I believe I'm starting to be pissed about the move to the vanilla forums again... Guess I better get out of here.

The thing is, if you notice my response here... these forums don't have that issue. Why then should the Vanilla forums have issues such as that, and why would it be desirable to use them when these forums work better? Come to think of it... why not migrate the Vanilla forums here?

Well I can't even log into the Arc forum today. Click the log-in button and I just get a blank page and when I click "Having trouble logging in?" I get this error message:
An error occurred during a connection to www.arcgames.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

The Arc forums do have TLS encryption do they not? cause you know Poodle has compromised SSL3.
After signing in it doesn't reload the forums page. Instead it takes me to what looks like the Arc games page and the top part of the page is messed up. You can see it showing in the upper right that I'm not logged in and below I am logged in. http://s31.photobucket.com/user/MonkeyGuts69/media/arc%20log%20in%20messed%20up_zpseojofri8.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 While on this messed up page after logging in, clicking the refresh button in my browser loads the Arc forms with me logged in just fine. Somewhere in the transition while logging in it doesn't take you to the correct page.

When on the forum page that asks you to "log in or Register" if your name is above the "log in" prompt, click your name. You'll login and still be on that page. Took me a bit to discover that "functionality".

I doubt it this is roughly just an assimilation of players across all games of PWE to be stripped of any type of belonging or individualism.
Yeah. Some forum titles are from veteran/lifetime rewards and some discount packs in the c-store are promoted to have forum titles unlocked when you purchase them. I doubt such titles would removed permanently. It's possible they may be inaccessible temporarily after the migration, but I'm sure Cryptic would have a say in the matter and do what they can to preserve what we, essentially, payed for.

Yes, that is the button I was clicking and it goes to the next page loads the header stuff and leaves the window below where the log-in should be empty (blank).
The log-in at the top of the page just spins endlessly doing nothing..
But thank you for the info and pics. At least now I know what I'm looking for..
With the transition taking most of the week. Does that mean these boards will end up closed until completely ported or will the new STO board show up there on Monday for us to start posting on the Arc Forum?

Most likely the first part you mentioned. But doubt it is going to take the whole week. At most 2 days or so.
Umm...I may be chewing on an idiotball, but is my arc name the same as the name I log into the sto forums now?
or is this the next step to force us to adopt arc by making us sign up for it?
You already have a fully functional arc account by logging in the STO forums, they forced you to do that a long time ago. So yes, your login credentials should be the same. I just they don't change the display name to the actual login name...

When I first signed up for STO, it was already free to play and thus I came with the PWE/Arc account. And that stayed with me all along as well as on the new forums.
So no display name change happened for me.
Of course if you were part of those with originally Cryptic accounts, your mileage may vary with all the mess that your display name has already been through.

I don't get it ... I tried to login on those forum and it kept asking me to sign in or register? Not liking this at all ...
+ Putting all games in one forum won't make me play the others. But I cam understand the reason for cutting down on forum management
Yup, it has a double benefit... the aggravating PIN thing might cut down on forum activity while allowing the company to assign moderators to multiple games. Well, there might also be the associated benefit of whittling away at the negativity on the forums by adding a proverbial "straw" to those that are on their way out and/or not spending money anyway. We'll have to see how the thing works once they've got it ported over.
I just they don't change the display name to the actual login name...
They have separate login and @handles as a basic security measure; it prevents folks from waiving their login username around the forums unless they really try.

I know, Cryptic did this back in the day already. Right now, I have four names popping up: Display name in this forum, arc/pwe login name, @handle (Cryptic) and my old Atari/Cryptic login name even pops up when I get disconnected and being sent back to the login screen in-game

I must say i'm 100% not interested in other PWE or Cryptic games so i don't see anything beneficial that comes with this on my side.
If the new forum and it's security related things are not to my liking, i simply won't use it. In the beginning the whole point of joining this forum was to have a basis to communicate with the devs, but since they don't care much for our opinions, i see no reason why i should go through all this trouble on that new forum.
STO has steadily grown into a direction i don't like anyways, so well...

I wonder if they are making this move because it is cheaper? No one has mentioned this. People forget PWE/Cryptic is a business first and foremost. Like all businesses everywhere they are continually looking for ways to reduce overhead and extra expenses. If this is the idea behind the move to vanilla and it frees up some capital which then gets allocated towards STO, can it be a bad thing?

First they took STO's website (along with much needed features like Server Status, Account Status and such), now forums are gone too.
Killing individuality one step at a time. I wonder how long until STO will be renamed to "ARC Game #3" or something like that.
