Hi. I didn't expect to, but I started making an Iconian War mission I'd like to include in the Anthology. The main idea is: What's going on with the Dominion in all this? I'm a firm believer that a real galactic war should take place in all four corners of the galaxy.
It's a short-ish mission (I think; we'll see). Your ship is sent from DS9 to the Gamma Quadrant to check on a Starfleet Intelligence ship that went missing while going on a recon mission in Dominion space. You find them and find what nearly took them out, then help them complete their mission.
In my mind, the Dominion has been coy about what they want, not committing to join the Alliance but allowing talks about joining to go on. This despite the fact that the Heralds have been attacking their space. There have been some tacit, on-the-groud alliances in battles but nothing formal. What is their game?
I'll have to come up with a new name. Initially, I was calling it "Blinded Gods," but with "Blinded" already an Iconian War mission, I'll have to change it. "Missing Gods," "Silent Gods," and "Hidden Gods" all have their appeal.
I'm part way through the mission. The way I'm writing it - a new way for me -- I already put together all the maps and the complete story, but with placeholder dialogue. I'll work on that, then let you know.
I'm writing the mission, BTW, to take place roughly around now in the war, probably just before "Time in a Bottle." My end point would allow for the Dominion to become an ally, stay neutral, or maybe even ally with the Iconians (that one sounds absurd to me, but still) in later missions.
I have now begun writing a follow-up to "Ghost's Gambit", tentatively titled "In Plain Sight".
It is a different story concept from the one I said I originally had in mind (but couldn't do for lack of suitable maps/assets). As you might guess if you've played "Ghost's Gambit", it proceeds down the rabbit-hole presented at the end of that mission, which leads to a certain artifact from Trek canon that could end the war quickly. (If you've been following my forum posts in General Discussion and Ten Forward relating to the Iconians, you can probably figure out what it is.)
For the continuity record, "In Plain Sight" will take place in between "House Pegh" and "Time in a Bottle". It also approximately coincides with the start of the Lohlunat Festival (which is a big, juicy hint as to where most of the mission's action takes place).
Alright Mark, I gotta ask....where the heck did these pictures come from??
I mean that's each member of the Iconian Council in a new setting - especially the last three of M'Tara, T'Ket, and L'Miren not all glowy, in clothing, AND standing in what I assume is a city inside a Dyson sphere of the past!

The fleet that looks for stuff.... in the code.
I'm not sure what Cryptic will use them for, but the current story arc seems like it's headed towards becoming a time war. Maybe the weird city is in the past?
Also it made me look back at the picture I made of the Iconians standing in a circle.... each is unique. so I think the circle in the last FE are the ones marked as the counsulate.

Yes, every single member of the Council of Twelve is different. And the last three pictures are labeled 'ancient' so one can only assume they are the younger versions of the Council members. Just take a look at M'Tara here:
This definitely looks like a younger version of her. She seems to be standing in a city inside a Dyson sphere. Perhaps this was from a time after the fall of Iconia, when the Iconians had just started their revenge plans? The Dyson sphere looks new at this point.
It sure would be nice to have the Dyson assets in the Foundry....not only for the Iconian anthology, but for Voth stories as well.
Now that you mention it the BG DOES look like the Solanae sphere doesn't it?
Most likely because this shot was taken in the Solanae sphere. :P While the others look like they came from "House of Pagh"
I think these are new, different environments. The colors are wrong for the backgrounds showing the individual members of the Council of Twelve to be from the House Pagh mission, probably hinting at another Iconian structure or base. And the Dyson background above looks too new to be a sphere we have visited already. It's probably one from the past, just newly built.
It's house of Pegh... the room where Kahless dies... I have no idea what programs are being used but my best guess... said player model or maybe the T'Ket NPC are being switched.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I haven't been on the forums for a while (IRL trouble, plus getting a new computer).
Anyway, I've just begun writing a second mission for this anthology, with the current title being "[Ico] By Persius Slain".
Anyway, my reason for posting is that I wanted to ask - would anyone mind if I killed off (or put on the "Endangered Species" list) the Medusians from TOS "Is there in truth no beauty" ?
They're implied to be a Fedration member species, and I think that, considering their abilities with navigating and technology, the Iconians would want them out of the picture sooner rather than later.
Actually... there was never any indication that they were a numerous or powerful race in the TV show. so it's not a stretch to say they're nearly extinct now.

Well, considering that they would drive ordinary humans insane on sight, I don't imagine that they leave their planet much (which would explain why we never see them again in the later series), instead focusing on contributing things like software and research. But I doubt that they're endangered - well, at least until the Heralds get at them.
Also, I had the interesting idea that the reason Medusians exist as energy is that their native habitat is the storm belt of a gas giant planet, feeding on the static electricity generated there. I've already started building a Federation embassy station that floats inside the storm belt. It's an interesting set, and particularly the part of the mission has you EVA around a damaged section of the station in high winds!
I'm nearly writing [Ico] Stars of Wrath which will be a follow up to Glimmer of Hope.
The Alliance will be launching a three way attack in an effort to prevent the Iconians from gathering the materials for another protomatter torpedo (I think that's what Taris used to destroy Hobbus if I remember right). The player will be leading an attack on a Tal Shiar installation where the weapon is being manufactured.
Why do I still play and put money into STO?
The Foundry, and my love of Star Trek
I've always had to wonder how a race that lives in a gas planet would ever manage to build a starship. Especially a race made mostly of energy....
Ian Douglas solved that one in the Star Carrier novels with the H'rulka (a race of 200-meter colony organisms resembling blimps). They were technologically uplifted by another species.

Point. I hadn't really thought about how a gas-giant based race would manage warp drive.
On the other hand, starships have been shown to either try to hide in or get trapped in gas giants with surprising frequency, so it's possible that a advanced enough race could be able to examine and repair a starship that got trapped in their native environment.
On a side note, since the plot has the player accompanied by a task force for most of the space battles, I would like to include a handful of other people's characters, at least for the space battle portion. And since I'm trying to take a darker "The alliance isn't winning" tone, it would be really cool if I could kill some of them off

You can use Admiral Leo if you want. Just don't kill him off yet, he should be appearing in Death at Mol'Rihan any day now .

I take it somebody's finally done something useful with that fake paradise Risa and burned it to the ground?

You could say that. Basically I'm giving that map the same treatment that Cryptic gave the old ESD map in "Surface Tension".

...Would those work also for Fed/KDF allied Roms?
[/quote]
@guljarol
Yes, they should be compatible with Fed/KDF Roms. 'Bout time I got around to answering this eh?
As for my end of month deadline, well... I didn't make it. Making them is going to take more time than I anticipated due to IRL stuff.
@paxfederatica
Here's your banner!
Lovely!
And no worries. I'd get to them anyway, and in the meantime I played some other foundry missions on my list.
