Not prominent enough to ever appear in even a single episode of Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, or Enterprise.
Not a single appearance in 700 episodes across 30 seasons.

How many Tellarites did u see outside of ent and TOS hum, and Andorians for that matter?
limited costume budget for a tv show is a poor argument.

You would say that. You are a cat. I bet you eat pasta as well.
I'm a cat? Last I recall, I'm a man playing a star trek game. Cats do not possess the intelligence to speak in human language or operate a computer in a logical manner.

Yeah sure. Most cats playing this game pretend to be human. Whilst sitting there eating pasta and laughing at us.
Still not getting what pasta has to do with this joke, but whatever.

So the question remains, is Star Trek: The Animated Series (or Animated Adventures) canon, or not? We would like to think so, if only so we can make more work for ourselves and all future historians! At some point, we would like to start adding more information to our site gleaned from this show and have it form part of the overall collective consciousness of Star Trek. Or, do we simply leave the whole issue ambiguous and let the fans decide in their own mind what they consider canon? Put to a recent vote on the site, fans favored the canonization of the animated series by a margin of more than 2-1. Let the white smoke billow!
The final word on the matter was on the official CBS startrek.com page "what is canon" which they removed in 2010. This is preserved on ex astris scientia, and they repeat tas is canon but in contradictions live action has precedence.
While I suspect it is true they only did it to sell copies of the DVD, they still did it. Their show, their intellectual property, their rules.
Tl/Dr TAS is hard canon per CBS, ergo m'ress, caitians and kzinti are hard canon. Licensing etc are a whole other can of worms.
Must remember to post comments about things not counting, and people being weird on the "Why no Planet of the Midget Merchants" thread, explaining that they don't deserve a planet because they have cornish pasties for ears and being mere shopkeepers, don't rank as a significant species anyway...

That's different. Cornish pasties are delicious. The species would be wiped out within days by Liverpudlian and Irish visitors.
This is stuff that can definitely be added in as time goes on.
Because many of these home worlds where in one of the star trek shows or other.
But since this is cryptic....it might take a bit...as they will want to do it right....or at least get it to a point that it will be something really neat.
I mean look at RISA....I remember when they put in the planet....then added the beaches and things....and now its at the point it is now....
It took time but eventually it got to where it is.....so if anything I think people should definitely keep up on the list of planets not in game yet and just keep reminding the developers about them.
There are a lot not there....and Space is BIG....unimaginably HUGE!!...You thought a trip to the Chemist was a long way...but that's just peanuts to space....
Just Remember...the population of the Universe is zero....because to figure out any population you take the size of the area and divide by the number of people in it....and with universe that's close enough to be zero to might as well just be zero. So it can be said.....anyone you happen to meet in the universe is just a figment of your deranged imagination.
By the way if they ever add in Triskelia...I will definitely be gambling quot-luhs against the three glowing brains.
Power without Perception is Spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.
Yeah it's some crappy cartoon. Are there really people who are Star Trek cartoon partisans and not also furry people? Are they otherwise obsessed with cartoons?
Look at it through this eternal lense of truth: "one of these things is not like the others."
To me the biggest issue with it was voiced by ex astris scientia, they gave official final word on canon to popular vote. That is a truly horrible precedent no matter my feelings on the direction the decision went.
However while it may show its age, it was the highest budget cartoon of its era. It has the actual actors, not impersonators, that is Shatner and Nimoy and Nichelle Nichols, and James Doohan, and Deforest Kelley, etc. I think there's a lot in it that was lame, but I also think that of the live action. In the end, it's entertainment, and it is trek.
Nope, lizardmen count as anthropomorphic animals, thus 'furry'.
And that's the second time you've ignored my mentioning The Voyage Home. Either you haven't seen it, bothered looking up Caitians at Memory Alpha, or you're just flinging bait.
It's ok to have reptillian species, and assorted 'paint an extra a funny colour because thats all the makeup budget will cover' species.
But if you happen to have a captain from a FELINE species sold in the c-store as a premium race, you are some sort of deviant weirdo who should have the content you paid for removed from the game.
That kind of makes it serious.
Take the Kobali... they have a T6 ship, a planet, a mini story arc, a fancy new purple quality boff, and a casual drop in warzone. Who the hell are the Kobali?
Some of the feline players expressed a wish for a home planet is all, no big deal.
Personally I don't see a real NEED for one but I support their right to ask, their claim to be canon is as good as most of STO, there's no call to refer to them as perverts, deviants, furries, or weirdos, and whine that they are asking for something other playable species already have, and many minor league non playables as well.

Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day... Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life...</size>

Or in comparison to the canon of seven hundred Star Trek episodes, spanning five series and thirty seasons, some extras in one of the movies just don't count for much.
Lizards don't have fur, so they aren't a furry thing like dogs and cats and horses.
Still counts as canon. So obvious bait then, good to know.
How many times something appears in all the official ST episodes/movies etc. isn't the issue, if it appears just ONCE it's as Canon as Kirk...
By admitting that Caitians appear in ST, you admit your claims of non-canon are false, thus revealing your position as bait...
That's his point.

You forget the TAS. Learn the right facts.

People resort to poor excuses when they have no viable arguments.

You are just digging yourself into a deeper hole.
Not sure if serious nor what pasta has to do with anything.
Oh thats a laugh mate. You clearly have a selfie of yourself as an avatar (some kind of lion I beleive) and you claim you are not a cat?!
Next you will be telling me that's not really a picture of yourself, and that you DONT eat pasta.
Pull the other one! its got bells on it!
Are you DENYING THAT CATS EAT PASTA?!?!
I have a question for you.

Sooooo lizardmen aren't furry. And Star Trek IV somehow doesn't count.
I would not say it was a 'crappy' cartoon. It was a bit naff, but all cartoons back then were a bit.
I have been trying to have a bit of fun with the conversation but it seems catian lovers take the case VERY seriosly

All the best if the homeworld is kept secret.
