I would pay for a ROFL emote. I would keybind it and use it every time I see someone with that armour.
Now serious. Probably you have to unlock it with a special reputation project which costs dilithium. Further, I don't have a clue what is the reason behind this exotic looking gear. Just as all those player running arround in a Vaudwaar outfit. It is the enemy! If you want to win the war, kill the enemy. If you want to win the war and look smart, kill the enemy, take his clothes and put it on, because what we give you makes you look stupid.
I never post on these forums, but I just had to log in and add to the conversation that this armor really and truly blows. I guffawed when I saw it. Seriously, what the frack is Cryptic doing?
Shame I won't be able to use the hat/visor for fear of covering up my Vorta aural vents.
The visor is indeed nice.
Shame it'll probably all be a separate costume category as usual, not combinable with other clothes. I never use the rep armor costumes for that reason.
Finally! a reputation event I can ignore - poor rep traits, godawful armor, bleh space gear (yay, scis get shafted again due to any debuff getting cleansed after a short time) and yet more AP pandering

I'm meh on them myself, which has always been my reaction to armor in this game no matter what TMP indicated (interesting isn't it that the only armor to appear for the Federation on screen isn't in the game?).
But laugh all you guys want, given how many people in this game want to use swimwear on duty, I bet you'll see these a bunch of people wearing these.
What in Gre'thor is this? A bad joke? Are we supposed to fight our ultimate enemies, the Iconians, in that? Are they supposed to die from laughter? Or maybe it's all an elaborate plot by the Iconians, to make all those brave, new Delta recruits die from shame?
Maybe this "armor" design was supposed to go into Champions Online, but they refused it, and now we're stuck with it :P
Seriously though, my Schott Bros. Perfecto leather jacket looks as it could probobly provide more protection in a firefight than this... Back to the drawing board. That's my suggestion.
So, putting this through the sci-fi tropes lens, I gather that this armor is made from some sort of super strong, yet flexible material. Intended to maximize mobility without losing protection due to sci-fi fabric. The visor is designed to give tactical updates. All well and good. Not sure what the point of the shoulder/arm stuff is. Hidden weapons? Power packs?
I'm sure it will have other color options. I would probably use something a little more muted and make it into a stealthy/assassin sort of appearance. Might be fun to equip a sword and go for a "cyber ninja" look.
Ya know the more people say this armor looks horrendous, and it does, the more OP it's going to grow before release.
Cryptic, Star Trek is not Tron. I like Tron, and I love Star Trek. Doesn't mean they go well together.
Just a thought, but maybe you could release some canon uniforms in the C-Store alongside this. Uniforms like the WoK bomber jackets, MACO fatigues, even those Federation Infantry uniforms from that DS9 episode with the Trooper dying staring Jake Sisko in the eyes.
That armor is absolutely horrifyingly bad. It's garish and also probably some of the worst pandering to "sex sells" that I have ever seen. Really? Nipples on the women's armor? No. Just no.

I can't wait for the next enemy. Bet we get "Sailor Moon" armor. Possibly TRIBBLE/Leather Daddy armor ?
No, no, it'll be Revenge of the 1970s. Leisure suits, sun glasses and pastels everywhere.
But seriously, I like some of the pieces of the armor. The visor is kinda nifty and some of the other kibble bits like the gauntlets or boots aren't bad, but it's the overall look combined with the clearly recycled art assets from Champions Online for the bodysuit that just falls flat. I think this really emphasizes the need for breaking out of the current setup for armor set pieces to be restricted to only each other, as some of these pieces would probably gel well with, say, the Delta Alliance or Voth Heavy Combat armor costumes.
Right now I can't kitbash pieces from those costumes together, and that's disappointing and a waste of art pieces.

A shame in the old days people weren't so upity about borrowing aesthetic from other franchises. Forbidden Planet, you dodged a bullet there for being relevant in ST conversations before the internet.
(Come on guys, there's the question of aesthetics (ie. just how bad do these look in their own right), and then there's just being pedantic. Abstract neon lights on clothing may have been popularized by tron but its by no means the sole contributor to the genre (or one that's inappropriate for Star Trek. Unconventional for ST? Sure, but that's not the same as being unsuitable for the same universe that brought us the Tranya Guy.) Recently you have Halo 4 making strides in the direction of the neon-disco-fantastical-future. Is that copying (in the playground sense)? **** no, just take a look at how art history works. Same process, different actors. Ideas permeate through culture and find modified expression in different outlets. STO participating with society isn't bad. Its the shrink-wrapped tin-foil onesies that is.)

And another thing that I do find more galling: see on the screenshot the alien in the middle with the white hair? That's impossible for us players to create. That's an Alien character using the Talaxian mohawk, and players can't make that combination, and that really grinds my gears.
I am getting kind of tired of the devs flaunting combinations of costume and character pieces we can't replicate on NPCs. Club 47 is one of the most egregious examples of this as nearly every character in there is using costumes or character designs that are impossible for players to create.

Nothing comes to mind, sorry.

No, basically. I'll just stick to my uniform, it looks better and it'll probably protect me more.

Which no doubt will soon come the Dev propaganda saying that ICONIAN REP ARMOR IS THE BEST ARMOR EVER AND THE PLAYERS LOVE IT!
IMO, Iconian Rep armor should be more like "Appleseed" and less like "Space Channel 5".

..guess I'll be doing iconian stfs for fun...

Fun? What's that?
Camel t.....OMG WTF AM I THINKING????
Something that STO used to be prior to October 2014. I'm still sticking around in the hopes that this "fun" may one day return to us.

"Fun? Ah yes, the employment of time in a profitless and non-practical way."
Going by that quote I'd say Cryptic nails fun perfectly.

You gave me plus +10 laughter there. Always nice to run into fans of the Boys from the Dwarf.
