If I decide to create one, it's going to be most probably KDF-aligned romulan. Career yet undecided, but I'm leaning towards tactical.

I now tend to just run a regular Human, probably female and go with a pure canon build on a pimped low level ship.
I recently flew around the new sector space with my T1 constitution which I outfitted with Mk XIV gear and it was glorious!
I have been playing the new DSEs and could hold my own against pretty much all enemies from Klingons to Borg.
They didn't explode all instantly and with some of them it took some clever piloting to not fall prey to their special abilities, but most of all it was fun!!

So, I really want to dedicate a toon to that and might as well make it the Delta Recruit.

I am not yet decided on the career. I have been playing tactical for the longest time, so might try out a pure healer toon, so science would be my way to go.

I might make this toon an Out of Time character even with an all TOS/Movie era theme. Since we get recruited by a time traveler anyway.
movie era might be better to get some flexibility with the ship. I can justify a Constitution refit and an Excelsior that way if necessary.

Answer: YES. Says so at the bottom of the Mar. 9 dev blog.
so get ready to make your Delta Recruit (all accounts are getting one extra free character slot)

I have nine characters. Making another one has zero appeal.
Not bashing the event, just stating my personal take on the thing.

I'm the same way, even though two are level 35 and lvl 10. I mean looks like I can prob redo the lvl 10, but do I really want to grind up one more char? I got one of each class for each faction as is.

Just like the title say, what race and career have you chosen for the delta recruit event? Or have you decided not to play the event? I'm thinking of going Romulan male, the career is tactical, and is ally to the Klingon faction.

I just might go as one of my BOFFs, a female pink alien with green hair, TAC.

A Caitian or Ferasan in honor of my cat that recently passed on. It will more than likely be the last character I create in this game, unless they eventually make the Jem'hadar.

Now, if they have a lifetime sale durring this event (no matter how unlikely this will be)

    FED liberated Borg Tactical

If not might just go with the generic redshirt.
Or another rom I don't have a science yet.
Hope there's a new race I'll jump on it if there is.
    Exploration needs to return!

Romulan havent decided profession but allied to the federation

I know its the federation but atleast THEY take baths and don't smell like the backside vivirr cat

one wonders how a species like the klingons can still exist being angry all the time , not bathing and are generally incompetent with the IQ of a rock...perhaps i should not insult rocks that way. :D

I'm really torn on what to do.

I've got three characters to reroll that are low level but I'm not sure what'll make me happiest.

    Fed Klingon Tactical

    KDF Klingon Tactical

    Fed Romulan (unsure)

I've done the Fed side twice so far (albeit a long time ago before a lot of the episode updates, sci cap and engineering cap) never got a Klingon past 20 on their side, and haven't even touched the Romulans before (as I generally had no interest in them until recently.)

Think I might start with either the Romulan or Klingon and then try to get them all done before the event ends but not sure what to start with.

In honor of the late Mr. Nimoy I will be running a Vulcan Science officer. I will also be making a rom and a kdf character for the event.

Romulan Science. I had a Romulan Tactical before, but I deleted her when I realised that all new content was gonna be playable by all three races, so I didn't see the need for two characters (didn't have a KDF at the time).

Okay, moment of truth: I'm scared to do anything but engineer at this point. You may think that's funny, but engineer is a safe bet. I'm not going to die. On the other hand, I would like to break out and try something else. I don't want to do Sci because that seems really team oriented and ... I'm a loner. I'm thinking tactical. But i'm concerned about survivability. Especially since my end game ship will be the T'varo

I had a Sci character in an Odyssey Tactical that mopped the floor with just about everything. If you do it properly, Science is fantastic as a specialisation.

I've thought on this for a while, and I was seriously considering a KDF-aligned female Romulan Science captain, but I couldn't come up with any interesting build ideas (and as other players have pointed out, Romulan sci ship choices are very slim).

I've decided that my Delta Recruit will be female Aliengen Fed Tactical captain, because I don't actually have any Fed-aligned Tac characters; my only tac is KDF-aligned Reman in a T'Varo. To make things interesting and work with the Temporal event theme, she will be flying a Mirror Escort Retrofit and the crew will wear the All Good Things alternate-future uniform.

With the right build, any captain can get good mileage out of the T'Varo. My Reman Tac flies the Fleet T'Varo Retrofit as a sort of hybrid stealth torpedo bomber, which is a refreshing change from my other 4 Cruiser-flying characters (and 1 sci ship). The trick is that the T'Varo doesn't tank or heal anything like what you might be used to with a Cruiser. It's fast and nimble, so your survival comes from maximising defense/evasion. Abilities like Polarize Hull Plating, Emergency Power to Engines, Aux to Dampeners, and Attack Pattern Omega work well here, just don't forget to carry at least one shield heal and one hull heal.

An Engineer would really boost a T'Varo's survivability, but you would be losing out on serious alpha-strike potential from a Tac captain or sneaky Sci-based debilitation. Besides, it's good to try something different - you might end up liking it more than your other characters! In a worst case scenario, you've tried the other style and learned that it's not for you.
Forget the possibility of PvP, for so much has become pay-to-win, never to be balanced. Forget the promise of exploration and research, for in the grim dark future of Star Trek Online there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting publishers.

If I do it, I am thinking a Fed Space Magic Captain; I have 8 toons now and no Science Captain. It would have been nice to give some love to EXISTING alts instead of having to make new Captains to get love. A Skill boost across the board would have have gone over real well . . . and required little effort.

Would a Romulan Science Captain suffer much with the power lost?

Engineer for certain. Not sure about which faction, though. Still weighing between KDF and Romulan.

    Will make 4 Delta Recruits.

I'm hoping they put the LTS on sale during or prior. I want to make at least one Borg Delta Recruit.

One Alien Fed agent (Sci Female).

One Borg Rom-Fed agent (Tactical Male).

One Alien Rom-KDF agent (Engineer or Tactical Male).

And one KDF Alien or Orion (Sci or Tactical Female).

Alien for the extra Trait slot, and to create some random backstory about being an ascended/augmented/superior human, romulan, or KDF agent sent back in time with some of their memories regarding the future lost/erased to prevent too much alteration in the timeline, while they work with a temporal agent to do what needs to be done to try and save the Milky Way Galaxy. The Borg being an eventual possible alternate main, if the game ever gets alt-friendly enough post Delta Recruit.

Yes. Romulan and Science is the worst combination for a captain.

    1. The 40 point power penalty for Romulan ships is pretty significant for a Rom science captain. You will not have much power to devote to both weapons and auxiliary subsystems.

    2. There are only three science ships; T5 Ha'nom, T5 Fleet Ha'nom and the T5 Romulan Dyson Science Destroyer.

    3. A Plasmonic Leech is more or less mandatory for a Rom science captain flying a Romulan ship.

My Fed aligned is flying the T6 Breen Carrier to avoid #1 & #3. The power penalty of the singularity core is not too bad for my KDF aligned Rom tactical captain who also has access to the Plasmonic Leech. I nearly deleted my Rom science captain twice.

I'm going Fed alien all the way, but i'm not sure if romulans can use the fed intel ships or not. I want to make him pure intel DPS, but it all depends on if they can or not. Otherwise it's a Scimi to blast through everything as fast as possible.

Romulans only have access to T1 - T4 Fed / KDF ships.

I wasn't sure if I was going to participate in the delta event or not. Still not sure actually. If I do I'll probably make a telaxian kdf sci. That way after the event ends I can farm contraband.

After long consideration and thought I am going to make a Federation Farmer to stand at Starfleet academy to do the lore mission everyday

I have no desire to redo all the reps and get skill points on a new toon so its the most positive character I can make nor will I buy new ships or expensive Doffs and equipment like a plasmonic Leach or lobi items when I already have them on existing characters
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

I have the most fun when I create concept characters. I currently play a character that I head canon they accidentally time traveled from the WOK era to current game time.

I believe my Delta Recruit will be a similar character...my characters will have traveled to the STO universe from the JJ Abrams universe. So I did a test run today...created a character and put them in the TOS uniforms...i darkened the colors and gave them silver badges and rank...then I used the WOK pants.
I gave my captain and his bridge officers the TOS phaser but I think I will be switching to the phaser pistols since they fire the bursts like the JJ phasers.
I will probably go with the Exeter refit since it looks like the JJ rise but smaller. I'd probably go with antiproton arrays since it looks somewhat like the JJ phaser fire and quantum torps since they match what the torps look like in Star Trek (2009).

I can't wait to create a science Boff like Science Officer 0718....the cybernetic guy on the bridge in STID and maybe pattern some of the other BOFFS after some of the other bridge officers on the JJ Enterprise.

I'll level him up to 50 in the Exeter and then switch to a T5U Oddy which is more the size of the JJ Enterprise and more useful at endgame.
    Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

lol, I wonder how many people squirmed with anger while reading that. I'm kind of envious of the concept though as I'll be running a Rommie.
