No, to say "W4P is not mandatory, nor is it a rule," and argue it's only a courtesy, is wording things confusingly, as (while technically true when the call for WFP hasn't been made) there's the meta-rule, if you will, that you *must* respect the call for WFP when requested. Kinda simple really.

    What is WFP and W4P?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Both variants of Wait For Pets.

Yup, because as Porchsong mentioned in a 70s run getting pets out means the second pet gets out with 30s remaining of the run if the first survived the initial cube. If you pop them after the initial cube then you'll get the second out with about 10s remaining if you are lucky. So WFP or W4P is necessary to make sure that you can run at full damage capacity especially if supported by Recluses.

However it's more a part of the 30K plus matches, however in the 10K matches the Carriers may still want to get their pets out and be usable instead of having them wasted on exploding cubes at the start.

A final thing, it's a courtesy to the dude who went to the trouble of making the group in the first place.
    Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."

    To repeat myself,
It's more than just about launching pets. It ensures that everyone actually warps into the instance and is ready to go, and especially of late, that bridge officers, traits, or trays haven't fallen apart.

Nearly every queue I play, except Cure and CCA, has some kind of a wait period at the start, which helps to ensure things like that (off-hand, ISA and KSA have the option to wait, BDE, VCE, HSE, and ANRA all force one).
    SCM - Crystal C. (S) - [00:12] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 8.63M(713.16K) - Fed Sci

    SCM - Hive (S) - [02:31] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 30.62M(204.66K) - Fed Sci

    Tacs are overrated.

Whichever ship I use, I always wait for pets, even in pugs if there's a carrier because a team is a team .

Yep. Even if w4p isn't stated, I've now taken to cloaking and waiting until there's a move-to-engage call, or I just see everyone jump in.

Gives me time to engage the post-cloak bonus anyways.

While technically true, also very confusing worded that way, as respecting a call for WFP itself is *most certainly* a rule:

    6. Respect Wait For Pets (w4p, wfp) calls or any other strategies prior to start of match.

    See Rules

    read like this

Respect wait for pet calls or any other strategies prior to start of match

All this says is 'Respect rules called prior to start of match' such as wait for pets. I have seen people call 'LF4M ISA NoWait', this is fine. Although if i could misunderstand your meaning, and all your saying is that W4P is a rule that people call.

Any way, misinterpretations aside, W4P is a generally observed rule, but it is by no means a mandatory rule of the dps channels. The rule is intended to imply, follow the rules of the person putting the room together, if you don't like them, just wait till that room is full, and start your own.

I reserve the right to have a completely different standpoint depending on my mood.

    Bingo.

Don't like the rules of the guy setting up the match? Set up your own.

Going in and not respecting the rules from the host you voluntarily joined just makes you an *******.
